I like that qualifier "some", Besame*.
- Some laundry - Try to finish holiday cards - sleep and that's it! |
I did soooo good today!
I wanted to get up and work on cleaning up and out some of my garage so I could park Winnie in it before the snow started today. Done! I wanted to donate some items to Savers. Done (and I picked up a nifty roll top desk and two pretty jars)! I wanted to do laundry. In process now. I wanted to bring some furniture items inside the apartment to clean them up and determine if I'm keeping them or selling them. Done! I wanted to bring my winter clothes in my storage unit back home. Done (and my shoulders are aching to prove it!! I wanted to get a shower. Done. I'm all shea buttered up. I want to get some real sleep tonight. TBD. The struggle has been real the past week or two. |
– more calls to family to make sure everyone is inside and safe
– make more canna butter and body butter, maybe – start writing holiday cards (some are late, bad girl) – start writing thank you cards – work on some crafts – make some Emerald Bliss smoothies to last a couple days – praise one of the littles ones for making her bed each day – thank my lucky stars |
- take care of the doggo
- grocery shopping for Christmas Eve dinner - pick up last minute stocking stuffers and some more wrapping paper - send a late Christmas card to my Aunt Sue - deep clean guest bathroom |
It's just me and Brittany for the next 24 hours or so - the fam is out doing Christmas stuff. That's just as well, I can blast some alternative Christmas tunes (think the Pogues and Sting and the Waitresses) while I do the following:
- finish cleaning the guest bathroom - clean the kitchen - call my Mom - wrap presents - prep tomorrow night's dinner and then B and I will finish watching The Nightmare Before Christmas before we snuggle down in our beds, while visions of sugarplums dance in our heads. |
Make fast food type tartar sauce
Wrap presents Finish laundry Cut up stacks of old T-shirts too worn to donate to use for things around the house like dust cloths and more. Do the dishes Drain then scrub and disinfect the bathtub. I filled it just in case because of the bad weather, forgot about it, then walked in to find Monte drinking out of it. Or at least trying. Not from the tub where there's water in abundance but from the faucet with barely a drop coming out. Okay then so it's been established, Survival Kitty you're not. I kind of figured as much the day I found him trying to hide behind some cardboard boxes large enough to cover up most of him but left his ears sticking out. I wanted to believe it was a one off and give him the benefit of the doubt but... Yeah well I love you anyway I told him. |
- Unload and reload the dishwasher
- Wrap presents - Fill stockings - Check in with some people and wish them a Merry Christmas - Hang up Christmas cards - Mix up a couple of appetizers and prep for oven - Take care of the doggo |
Not much … will talk with family and watch movies.
|
– Work on income taxes
– Make some canna oil and salve – Exercise – Write a thank you card |
to do list
-laundry
-dishes -call my twin -watch Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker -pick up thyroid meds -make cornbread to go with beans and rice -pay bills -start taxes |
Everyone who's starting their taxes: Good for you! I can't even think about that yet.
- change sheets - laundry - prep dinner for next few days - clear a path in my bedroom - I've let it get very cluttered in there since Christmas |
- change sheets and do laundry, because I didn't get those done yesterday
- gather up trash from around the house - pick up all of Brittany's confetti, although I might need a rake - it's like leaves everywhere. I suppose I could try to stop her, but she loves it so much that I can't bear to. - work on an arts and crafts project |
More housework. I have appointments with two social service workers coming up and I don't want either of them thinking J isn't taking good care of me. I don't know why they always suspect that. It's like I told the last one - Of course she isn't abusing me. If she was why would my son still be walking around unharmed? I mean he's the one who picked her. I'm not going to punish her for his faults.

Today is a short day at work. Yippee!
I hope to get a 2-3 inch trim off the ends of my hair. Then a brisk walk around the spring bayou to enjoy this beautiful afternoon. Make some brownies with Valentine M&M's for my crew at work. |
Clean the hallway carpet. <sigh>
|
Car shopping....wish me luck. My 2016 350 truck will not be a trade-in. The truck gets like 12 per gallon and I need something more traveling friendly. I will be paying cash so I hope that gets me some bargining power. Looking at either a Subaru Crosstrek or Forester. I drive so little I am thinking I might be able to get by with a used vehicle as they now can easily get 100k plus miles. I guess there is something good to be said about getting old.....expensive purchases can be considered your last.
|
On my agenda today.
Hey nh I hear ya bud. I bought what I thought would be my last buy and got used van and paid cash. Done, lol. Thats good thinking or so I thought. Van has given me not 10cents worth of trouble. As you know you lose a huge chunk of cash on whatever vehicle you buy if it is new. Hope you are doing ok my friend. Like said before I need to get down there to see you or you pop up here for a week. Anyway take care of you .
my agenda today got me groceries and a much needed haircut. |

I also had a similar thought about my dog - how she will probably be my last dog. :| * * * * * Today I have to: - go to the grocery store on Valentine's Day :( because I forgot to purchase 2 cards instead of just 1 (thank goodness I remembered 2 gifts, I just forgot the card, it's Old Timer's disease) - make dinner - be home when the Orkin guy comes - be home when Amazon Fresh delivers groceries (on the day I'm going to the grocery store; I know, it's ironic) |
A doctors visit for the hand I burned on the wood stove. My fourth visit and yes, it was that bad of a burn.
Stop at the state liquor store for some of my downfall poison. A trip to Wally for groceries. Then to Tractor Supply for a wood bundle and to see if their winter coats are any cheaper. I have plenty of wood outside at the house but their wood is extra dry and split. |
- Cook 3 meals with my Mom's "help". Breakfast is going to be a frittata with pasta, meatballs, tomato basil sauce and whatever veggies I can find.
- Watch TV with Mom. - Keep Mom entertained. - Make sure Mom and I both take all our meds on time. |
Thinking I'm going to go down the driveway and pick up some starter firewood for the coming cold spell.
Cut up the one log blocking me from doing a drive/plow through to the back woodpile. Haul in a few bigger chunks for the stove so they can dry out a little more after setting out in the snow/weather. Yep, it is ALL about wood this week with the weather I see that's coming. |
- Sleep.
- Recover from trip to see Mom. - Play with dog. - Unpack. - Sleep some more. |
Babysit, my place while J sees the chiropractor
Babysit latter, their place while J gets a massage She and my grandson were involved in a minor fender bender the other day. The man who caused it tore out of there like a bet out of hell. Fortunately no one was hurt and they all have insurance. I guess my grandson handled it well and didn't start crying until he realized his mom was. Even then it was only just a bit. Everyone was calm and very polite. The woman who rear ended J gave Little Man a healthy snack treat and a stuffed toy hedgehog. No one wants a car wreck but if one can't be avoided this one went pretty well so far as these things go. After J is done with her wellness trip then a quick run to the store to pick up a few things for dinner. Then home again home again jiggity jig. |
We are supposed to have a storm coming in tonight and lasting through tomorrow. Then the temp is going to drop like a rock so no getting out of the usual snow work with luck and sun, it's just not going to happen.
Do some dishes, ok mostly silverware, because frozen meals only need a fork. I need to go out and turn the plow truck around and make sure it has plenty of gas. I've been bringing in wood but a few more rounds won't hurt and maybe I'll run a few pieces of slab through the chopsaw. Go down cellar and check to see if I need an oil delivery. Cancel my Dr's appt for tomorrow because the bandages are off and the hand look pretty good. Go to the store and pick up some food and beverage so I won't be driving in that mess tomorrow. Check the nesting boxes when I let the chickens out because there is gold in them their hay. |
Sleep.
Play with the doggo. Finish up a craft project and prepare for mailing. Contact my doctor and change my appointment. Fill out some insurance paperwork and upload it. Sleep some more. |
I'm sitting at the dealership today. They are installing an anti theft device. Apparently, there are videos being made to show how easy it is to break in and start my car model.
I brought some handwork with me. Let's see if I can put my phone down. I'm rather addicted to a game I have. LOL I've been bingeing on Breaking Bad!!! I was slow to that party.Lol |

– Ice – More rest – More ice – Exercises (maybe) |
A very busy day at work! Its definitely spring in Florida. Absolutely gorgeous day to be outside☀️😎
Later meeting with a dear friend for BBQ and a walk around a cute neighborhood tonight to spy on all the chandeliers that have been transformed into yard lights in their trees. This neighborhood is famous for this. Two for one great company and get in some extra steps! |
Another snow prep day. Off to Wally for food and supplies, Tractor Supply for suet because those birds will need a little fat with this storm coming in and a bag of cracked corn for the chickens, then to the drive to jockey cars around because a friend wants to leave their kid's car here during the storm, bring in a little more wood, and go to the state boozery for a bottle so at the end of the plowing day I can relax with a bloody by the fire.

I met someone last night. I think we hit it off pretty good so far. You know, cautious as I go forward.
Later, I'm taking pineapple upside down cake to watch a sunset. Easy breezy and super causal. |
