Just finished my exercise commitment for the day. Half hour recumbent elliptical. I did increase time and number
Of reps on machines. Totally cool is that I am increasing the weight load on the machines.:) |

Even though I haven't posted much I am reading the post that you''all put hear.I am glad to know we all have a common goal of weigh loss with good health,I have learned a few things from the things I have read.thank you all for that.
My biggest issue with weight loss has been fighting the fight that seems endlessly harder than I ever though it would be.I would lose a few then get stuck going nowhere, exercise harder and longer .eat more or eat less to find the still where I was...totally frustrating. Then I found out my thyroids and hormones were a wreck plus my sugar count was up.I get it all worked out but my sugar count as it was is a battle and I guess will always be one.My last A C 1 test was over 7 so then metformin came into the game.Boy did I make a diffrents as in the last two months I have lost from 262 to 249.Thought it isn't for weight loss it re gears my body into procesing sugars and carbs that even on a lite workout program I am on the weight loss has gone on.I was shocked when the weight started falling off...I wish I had know about that med sooner. |
Still on schedule...one hour of swimming.

My gym gave me a wonderful pressie today. Perfect timing!
They. Have. Stair. Masters. Now! Of course, they all have a 'for Gemme only' sign on them. Some people may see it as an 'out of order' sign but I know the truth. Interesting workout today. My MP3 player gave out halfway through but I persevered and listened to VH1 for the second half of the workout. I never watch VH1 and now I realize why. It's just like MTV and now has far less music than a music station should have. Not a fan! Every 5 minutes, I kicked it up a little and went from level 3-12 in the hour and I had 4-5 one to one and a half minute running intervals at 6.0 mph. Final stats: 441 calories, 3.57 miles, 65 minutes All in all, a very good day! |
Today I took a two hour walk in the park. It was perfect weather for walking. There were a lot of shadows from the trees with speckles of light. I went up and down the St. Clair Stairs (built in 1935, 90 steps). I walked the "Forever Wild" path which is sometimes too muddy to walk but due to a lack of rain it was lovely.

Thanks to everyone for your posts. The struggle continues. Some days are better and some days feel like a step forward then 2 steps back. Been sick with the flu...just want my relationship with snot to end and have my voice back. :blah:

Yesterday I did 30 minutes on the recumbent elliptical and 40 minutes of weight machines and a little bit of weights thrown in. That's 10 minutes more of weights and machines than I have done before.
Today went to the gym and I must say my muscles were a little sore and tired from all the machines this week (more days than I have in the past) so I swam for 45 minutes. I decided to stop when my body say...no more, rest. I feel relaxed but sore. I like when I feel sore because it indicates that I am working my muscles |
Sunday
I tried something new on T33. I tried the Zone Training program, with intervals. I didn't love it because I could have worked harder and done more but the stupid thing kept me between 117-144 beats. I realize that's what I signed up for but c'mon now.....holding onto the handles for the heartbeat reading made me feel confined and restricted. No likey! I could only tolerate 35 minutes of that. 191 calories burned and 1.65 miles covered. They got my Stair Master working! Technically, it's a Matrix brand, which should have been my first clue. My second clue was that it had been YEARS since I've actually been on one and the one I used last was old. When did they stop looking less like escalators and more like angled blocks? Anyway, I knew I was out of practice with it and that those particular muscles might not be happy with me, so I did a very short stint. Boy, howdy! I was a sweaty thing when I hopped off of it. 55 calories burned in 8 minutes and that was only on level 1! Monday T33 and I got back in sync and did 35 minutes on the random program, levels 3-13 with no running intervals. 218 calories burned and 1.74 miles traveled. I then popped into the weights area and did a quick basic circuit for 20 minutes. Good day! |

I figured out a trick for the heart rate thingy a few years back. The cardio machines tend to vary wildly in calibration of the hand grips so one machine will read a lot different than the others and then the internal calculations go off (calories etc). To get consistent accurate reading you can get the chest strap for a Polar heart rate monitor and use that instead of the grips. All the big manufacturers have that sensor baked in. You don't have to use the grips and you get more accurate readings. You can buy a replacement chest strap without having to get their watch/software/expensive part. Last time I checked they were $20-$30 :cheesy: :theisland: <<< Public service announcement for the numbers geeks. |
60 minutes of Pilates this morning.
Sobering to really find out which muscles have been totally underused for the last two years. I am going to stick with private lessons for a while. Paid for 5 in advance.. :thud: |

I do, however, want to get a HRM that I'll be able to wear on my arm but that's about as constricting as I get. |
I've been knocking out 4-5 miles a day although I've been slacking on my PT a bit. Got busted at my appt today so I hit the bricks hard again tomorrow.

Tuesday
Quickie! It's so hard to get a good workout in and work and still do what I need to do during the day, so most of my workday workouts are around 30 minutes. T33 was busy when I came in, so I got to know T35 a little better. Random program, levels 3-11, with 2 running intervals of 6.1 and 6.8 mph. Stats: 218 cal, 1.90 mi, 35 minutes Wednesday SYTYCD Night = SUPER quickie! I decided to try something new in case I liked it better than I did before. Well, that and the undies I was wearing kept riding up and I didn't want people to be looking at my knickers as I walked or ran. Soooooo........ Nope. Still not my favorite by a long shot. I hopped on a recumbent bike and pedaled my way to 6.79 miles using the random program, level 3. 30 minutes. 168 calories. I didn't enjoy this workout at. all. I need to remember not to wear those on workout days. |
Back at my running, I took a bit of a break after doing the Bolder Boulder 10k the other week, as well as doing some hiking and backpacking.
Sooo, right back with 5 miles this morning on the trails with the dogs. They definitely have the most fun! Also started working out with the heavy bag this week, doing some basic drills for about a half hour. It is quite fun, thanks for the tips Venus007... Though I still managed to split 3 of my knuckles! I have since perfected wrapping my hands. |
My abdominals have healed enough to get up off the couch without moaning.
Back to Pilates tomorrow at noon for an hour. Trying to work up to 3 days per week from two... All of you inspire me! |
