I got a quick workout in today since there's no way I'm getting to the gym tomorrow morning and no guarantee they'd be open anyway.
Precor EFX576i total body program 235.2 cal, 1.85 mi, 3282 strides, 25:00 min |
I've been shoveling for 3 days straight, so I only wanted to do a chill, barely there cardio workout today.
I hopped on an elliptical (with no moving arms) and was 3-4 minutes into my program when my trainer approached me. He had a spot open and he asked if I wanted to fit a session in. I was going to ask him about filling in tomorrow so I figured, what the Hell. Oy. I agreed with the caveat to not work the arms too bad as my forearms are still tender so I hopped off the elliptical and we got to work. Precor EFX546i, manual program 69.6 cal, .54 mi, 7.10 min Satan, er I mean, my trainer had me working my core and legs. Medicine ball twists and reverse toe touches, planks from Hell (alternating lifting one leg for 3 second intervals), step ups with a 10lb weight lifted overhead and alternating starting legs, leg presses, a machine that reminds me of a cockpit that makes your quads cry and regular planks. Mix those all up and do them again. And again. And again. Rinse, lather, repeat. Rinse, lather, repeat. I got my money's worth today, that's for sure. I stretched for about 10 minutes after that and left. I decided to weigh myself after I got home (had done so before I left) and found that, even with all the water I had, I still sweated off almost a pound. :weightlifter: |
I'm still sore from yesterday's workout so I took today 'off'. I did wind up painting for about 2 hours. Well, most of the time was spent moving stuff around and getting up and down on the ladder but that counts too.
|
Still no training that involves my shoulder (back for imaging next week), so made productive use of my time by warming up with intervals on the dreadmill, and then another 45 min of leg press 12 reps x 3 sets 180lb, calf press 12 reps x 2 sets 180lbs, leg curls 12 reps x 3 sets 55lbs, leg extensions 12 reps x 3 sets 55lbs, abs 12 reps x 4 sets. And so far...36 flights of stairs today.
Feeling good! |
My trainer doesn't normally do Sundays but since football is over for him, he scheduled me a 9am session. I hope I can get a 7am next time because that really put a kink in my plans, and not the fun kind.
I warmed up on a Technogym elliptical. 41 cal, .18 mi, 5:00 min Then it was half an hour of nothing but upper body. Oy. I can already feel that this is going to mess me up for a couple of days. I painted a wall this morning and am going to do the second coat after work today and I will be hurting sooooo bad by then. I might have to take one of my 800 mg ibuprofen horse pills tonight. It's good, though. Change and progress are rarely comfortable. |
:dog: and I did a bit.
Well it was a full workout for him. 20 minutes on his treadmill. I just did 40 mins on my eliptical. I always choose the muscle toner option. All I am focused on is trying to get my metabolism up a bit. My back hurts while I am doing it too, so can't do it for too long (but, it is always hurting, so whatevs). I figure if I am just doing short amounts of time, I will be more likely to do it more regularly. Maybe. You would think that since we were working out together, side by side on our machines, that :dog: would be a little less miserable about it. Nope. What is sad is that usually when he sees me putting my sneakers on he knows we are going for a walk, so he runs to the door. With it being colder out, he is getting less long walks (thus, the treadmill). So, yesterday, for the first time, when I put on my sneakers and ran down the steps he didn't follow me... I wish we didn't have all this snow because we could be doing our usual weekend hiking in the woods. He loves the trails, as do I. I need to go to Walgreens or wherever it is you can get those Dr Scholls inserts. Walking on pavement for long periods of time really hurt my arches. Always have, but now it happens in less than 10 minutes. So, that cuts down on things outside too (when I can't do the dirt trails). This is only when I am walking at a quick pace for exercise. Gemme, I continue to admire your strong commitment even though you are faced with pain every day! |
Most all of my exercise for the past few days has been mental. Today I'm carving out time for getting on the rowing machine if nothing else. My body and brain need the energy outlet. It's almost warm enough that I'd go out on a bike ride but I don't have enough time for that...
|
I wish I had someone to teach me powerlifting???? That is something I secretly always wanted to do but never looked into it. Not bodybuilding, powerlifting. Like Bev Francis back in the day!!!

Walmart has them too, but they are ALWAYS out of the type it says I need (310s, I think, all I remember is that they are in the middle on the left when I look at the machine). As expected, the shoulders are super sore tonight and I still have a coat of paint to slap on my wall. I should just go and get it done but I'm going to hem and haw and do it right before bed and then wish I'd done it sooner. |
:dog: and I walked for an hour at a good clip. Changed out my sneakers and arches were ok. I know I still need to get the inserts, though.
I think they have some sort of locator on their site for Dr. Scholls locations. |
I only hemmed and hawed for a while. The second coat is on the wall. We'll see how it looks tomorrow morning. That's over an hour of painting today as well.
My pecs are tight. I'm going to take some Emergen-C because I can feel something trying to start and I'll just hope that I can crawl out of bed tomorrow. |
I started working out every other day since last Monday, cut all junk food, and started the slim fast diet. So far I've kept pretty focused on weight training, with light cardio once or twice a week. I'm down 3.1lbs from last week, I'm pretty sure the initial weight loss is associated with the lack of appetite due to slim fast, two or three days I literally ate just to get up to my daily calorie intake but I wasn't actually hungry. It's very different going from constantly hungry (I have PCOS) to not being as interested in fast food at all. Impressive start!

I got a 2 week guest pass at a local gym here so today was my first day and I realized just how little I know. I walk every day but I need to learn how to lift weights, and do some resistance training. I also will be trying the Aqua class tomorrow and maybe a spinning class. Trying not to overdue it as I am still healing from surgery. It feels so good to be able to actually exercise more than just walking.
|
I walked to the liquor store, and carried the heavy bottles all the way home. It was a killer! Lol
|
Ran 3 miles on my treadmill.
|
Yesterday, I opened and shut about 50 metal doors.
Felt GREAT with my aching shoulders and arms. |

Today's my day off but I will not be going to the gym this morning. One, I am a bit on the sick side and don't want to tax my system and two, the :cat: had medical issues this morning so I'm going to stick around and make sure he's okay.
I will get in a bit more painting before the end of the day and I'll be doing housework and moving some stuff around, so I'll still have some intentional movement, which is key. The good news is that I've dropped about 4 pounds since I started with my trainer. This is with me still eating crap and candy and more than I should so that's very good news. |
I have been going to the gym since Monday this week doing different machines and swimming laps and today I tried the water aerobics class and LOVED it! I will be going again tomorrow and Saturday. So I am doing an hour in the gym and an hour hike/ Fast walk along the trail by the lake by my house. I feel amazing.

I canceled my training appointment today. Too much to do and I couldn't get an earlier one so I just went and did the elliptical myself.
I've been sick with a cold but I haven't felt sick, really. I have the symptoms but not the worn down, run down feeling, so I'm thankful for that. Hard to do manual labor shoveling and ice picking if you feel like crap. All in all, it was a good start to the day. EFX576i 222.2 cal, 1.98 mi, 3433 strides, 30:00 min I didn't really stretch much but I think I'll be okay. I can always do a good stretch before bed. I hopped on the ole scale after the workout and mid-breakfast. Two more pounds down. I think the weight training is what kicked my metabolism in the butt, so I'm glad I got back into it. As long as I use one day a week for the trainer, I think I can handle the rest on my own. Hope everyone's doing well. |
Today was the first day in over a year I was under 200lbs. I have been fighting it for years, and it's hard as hell with PCOS to lose weight. Counting calories, working out every other day, and avoiding eating when bored is working. Also got a FitBit this week to keep me motivated.
Keep at it, something will eventually hit and all of a sudden your losing it. I am officially in Onederland. |
I cleaned the snow off my car and did a little walking downtown after therapy. It counts!
|
I shoveled snow.
|
I rode my bike for 20 minutes and lifted weights.
|
More shoveling. I'd say about 3 to 3.5 hours of it, total, throughout the day.
I'm too pooped to pot now but this could explain my recent drop in pounds. |
I hit the gym this morning and did a quick workout on the recumbent bike.
123 cal, 5.2 mi, 22:00 min I stretched my legs out with a finish on the treadmill. 31.7 cal, .33 mi, 8:00 min |
After the last round of knee shots I have slowly gotten better, that's good cause I really had my doubts the new shot would work. I haven't had pain for a week so the Doctor said I could start riding my recumbent bike easy a couple of times a day but if it starts to hurt that I feel I should stop do so then try again, If it keeps this up I hope I can get off the crutches and back on the cane before to long. Slow we go on the recovery with fingers crossed.

3 miles on the treadmill.

I'm totally jazzed from my workout this morning!
I hopped onto my favorite elliptical and did the total body interval program, which has you switch from pedaling forward, backward and from using your legs versus using your arms to pull the levers and basically run the show. It's a good workout. So, I hopped on there and decided it was going to be a good workout. A 'good' workout for me means a 250+ calorie burn. I got started and about 8 minutes into my workout, one of the owners of the gym came over and hopped onto the elliptical next to me. We briefly chitchatted and I carried on. This woman is amazing. Not only does she help run the gym but she does some of the spinning classes and is in excellent shape, so when she hopped up next to me I felt a natural blend of camaraderie and competition. It's just my competitive spirit. I have to equal or best the person immediately next to me. So she helped me keep with my goal of a 'good' workout and helped push me a bit. I say 'good' because, realistically, any workout is a good workout. Maybe I'll call it a better workout. Anywho, I expected a minimum of 250 calories burned and I got that. I got a great workout in, I felt the burn of lactic acid (hate that feeling even when I know it can be a good thing) and I tore it up without tearing myself up. Unlike the poor sucker who fell off the treadmill a little later. He definitely should have toned it down. He was okay, thankfully. So, here's my stats: 329.8 cal, 2.66 mi, 4689 strides, 35:00 min including cool down I stretched on the mat for a bit and then got out of there. Oh, and I set a trainer appointment for Saturday morning. All's good in the health world for me. I'm starting to drop some pounds and getting some good workouts in at the gym and at work (hate shoveling snow but it's a hella good workout) and I'm feeling a bit more settled in my skin. It's hard to be okay, really and truly okay with yourself, when your skin doesn't fit right. You can take that literally or figuratively. It's all relative. |
I did a mile run over the weekend. It told me that I really need to get back to the gym. This move is sort of wearing me down. I'm just ready to get settled so I can develop a solid routine that includes gym time.
|
2 mile run today.
|
Crossfit. Been doing it for 4 months now. I am totally addicted. It's intense and brutal and I love every second. I would list everything we did today but if you never did crossfit it would sound like Greek to you.
|
I warmed up on the Precor 576i treadmill and walked for 15 minutes on the random program.
65.5 cal, .57 mi Then I had a 30 minute training session for core and lower body. My trainer murdered me but it's a good kind of murder. :weightlifter: I've had a bad headache since last night but it's better now. Nothing like a weight workout to get the vessels open and pumping blood. |
Super good workout this morning, exercisers!
EFX576i elliptical 314.9 cal, 2.55 mi, 4350 strides, 35:00 min Before I crawled up on the elliptical, my trainer came over and we discussed the last workout and we agreed that going forward, to do full body workouts each time. He said I needed to do more weighted workouts and I do but I only have so many sessions that I've paid for and I'm not paying for any more any time soon so I'll have to do it on my own. Unfortunately, I don't like their weight machines as much as I do other gyms. Looks like I'll be doing more free weights in the near future. We scheduled my next session with him and as he was leaving and I was mounting the machine, I called to him that I always enjoyed scheduling my torture sessions with him. This cracked up the two ladies in front of me but they paid me back. As one of them was walking away, the other called out that it was the wine coming out. For some reason, that made me smile. Then the one that called out to her friend hopped onto the treadmills behind me and was greeted by a guy who said, "Every time I see you, you're only doing cardio." to which she replied, "No, I was on one of those bikes earlier (recumbent bike)." Um, still CARDIO. lol I put my head down and carried on but I had to smh at that comment. Then, as I was stretching on the mat, I got Spinpimped by one of the owners of the gym who wants me to take her Spin class. One of her selling points was that it is in the dark so no one can see anyone else and all I can think of it, what happens when I have to pee during the class? How many people will I run into or trip over to get out the door? lol Interesting people at the gym today, folks! |
Forgot to load this earlier:
March 3rd workout. EFX576i elliptical, total body program 293.0 cal, 2.46 mi, 35:00 min I followed it with some stretching in a dark room. Bliss. I decided to forego my workout this morning. I have to get to work early today and I just didn't feel like it, so there. :byebye: |
