My neighbors, Sonia & Francisco, just text messaged me, because they remembered that I am going fishing in the morning...

"Hollylane, do you need worms? You never have to buy them, you know how we love hunting them at midnight! Come and get them if you need them, we're almost home from the park!"

They are amazingly thoughtful, even after spending a long day at the park, selling homemade food and sodas.

So far, being here visiting My Mom..she just makes Me smile and laugh.

Thinking about how Life can change so quickly...when the unexpected arrives and leaves you smiling :)

Knowing that there really is good in the world, and that you should never close yourself off to letting it in.

Watching 8-9 manatees with a few calves slowly swim through while I was fishing yesterday morning had to lift my pole so they would clear my line as they swam 3-4 wide.

Talking to Dad and listening to what he has planned for Tuesday.

Catching up with a childhood friend.

Morning coffee.

Text messages.

Quality time spent...

:cheesy:

Waking up and calling her knowing she had to leave soon. Hearing her smile as I call her beautiful. Her understanding that I am no where near coherent with my first cup of coffee. Can I say enough her?

What made me smile today was my brother, sister-in-law and their dog going home so we can get this family back into our routine. No more messy, aggressive dog in the house that taunts Ginger. YES!

Side note: I am a dog lover, but I do get a little riled when the owner is NOT correcting the aggression or concerned about the dogs welfare. Nothing against Riley, but my brother needs to educate himself a little bit.

Pumpkin Cafe and Market, on South Street in Philly

I'm sitting here getting some work done in my friend's cafe. The lunch rush is over now--Julia is my fave waitress, she says outloud (with a deep sigh) "I could go for a snack and a nap..."

The room spontaneously broke out into laughter and applause.
Good times, lovely day, all is well in my world. :-)

"I can't hold your hand now Baby. This is my mouse hand...* In response to me extending my hand on the couch during our mutual Facebook ignorefest.

6 hours of fishing at Henry Hagg Lake, 5.75 of those hours were without a nibble, and 4 of those hours I was alone out there.

At 4 hours in, some jerk showed up with his very loud family, including a small child, who despite the screeching coming from his mom every 2.7 seconds, continued tossing large rocks into the lake next to me. The male specimen went on and on about how his wife would never catch anything with her "girly pink pole" (trust me, it wasn't the pole keeping her from catching fish, it was the loud, and uncouth mouth on her that was scaring fish from the area along with her son's help), and casting his line diagonally over where my line was already set. To add to my annoyance, he had a sinker on his gear, that was so heavy, it sounded and looked like he had tossed a baseball in each time he cast.

It was an effort to keep my overly honest mouth closed for that 1.75 hours, but the pay off came, when I caught the only fish of the morning (with about 20 people with lines in the water), with my very pink fishing pole, and pink power bait. I dispatched the unlucky fish quickly and humanely, cleaned it, packed it into ice, packed up my gear, and left with a gigantic smile on my face. He wasn't smiling. :)

Getting texts from her even though she was busy. Her calling me and waking me up from a nap. Coming home and talking to her. Us talking about all our feelings. I can't get enough of her. She makes me so happy.

This may sound strange....but...

I have found 2 of these Dobsonflies in this past month...

https://encrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com/i..._3a4ax2_tgQwcA

I hadn't seen any in YEARS...and I'm rather fond of them. They remind me of dragonflies :)

Common Name: Dobsonfly
Scientific Name: Corydalus sp.
Order: Neuroptera
Description: Dobsonflies are large (can be over 2 inches long), and have long antennae. Their large, many veined forewings are often mottled. When at rest, wings are held flat over the back and extend beyond the abdomen. Males have long, extended curved mandibles which are used to grasp the female during mating. Aquatic immature stages, called hellgrammites are elongate, dull colored larvae with gill filaments and feathery gill clusters along the sides of the abdomen. They have two hooks on the end of the abdomen.

Alderflies (Neuroptera: Sialidae) are similar to dobsonflies but smaller. Larvae of alderflies differ from hellgrammites in that they lack the two hooks at the end of the abdomen.

Life Cycle: Immatures develop in water, especially well oxygenated and high quality water.

Habitat and Food Source(s): The adults probably do not feed. The long mandibles of the males would make feeding very difficult. Hellgrammites are aggressive predators that attack other aquatic insects and other organisms in the water. They are found in flowing rivers and streams hidden among rocks. Immatures can be collected in riffle areas of streams where they hide among rocks (see Mayflies).

Pest Status: Adults are noticed when attracted to lights at night. Immatures (hellgrammites) are collected and used as fish bait; immatures are fierce biters, but medically harmless.

Management: None, not considered a pest.
