Why do people mistake kindness for weakness? This boggles my mind. I've always believed that kindness is a strength. |

Why objectification is harmful to women........
Objectification isn't just something feminists came up with to confuse chauvisnistic pigs, it's an actual psychological term. Researchers interested in the topic have shown that "objectification theory" is the process by which a societal focus on the female body as object impacts women’s understanding of their own bodies as defined through external characteristics rather than internal cues. Women come to understanding their bodies through the perspective of an outsider rather than through a process of introspective thought. Because of this mind-set, women tend to be more critical of themselves because they are taught to police their bodies.
It goes without saying that self-objectification is linked to mental problems such as anxiety, body shame, reduced probability for peak motivation and diminished awareness of internal bodily states. Women come to rely on others for validation because that's how they come to view themselves: through others. Research on self-objectification also explores the extricable link between self-objectification and women's unhappiness. It turns out that the more women self-objectify, the more unhappy they are. Objectification interrupts the state of flow, which is fundamentally necessary in the pursuit of happiness. http://www.policymic.com/articles/35...than-you-think |

Mystery Barn packed with Ferrari's!
A 1974 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS with 2,910 miles, a 1972 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona with 9,752 miles and a 1977 Maserati Bora Coupe with just 978 miles were all found in the dusty Texas barn pictured below.
According the Californian auction house, Mecum, which auctioned the cars after their discovery in the summer of 2011, “the owner was a friend of Luigi Chinetti, the Italian racer who opened the first Ferrari dealership in the United States following World War II, and was for many years the only source of Ferrari vehicles here. The ’74 Dino may be the best original example of that model in existence”. As to why the Italian exotics were forgotten in a barn near Dallas? The mystery remains intact. EARLY MAN? “When I was a student at Cambridge I remember a professor holding up a picture of a bone with 28 incisions carved in it. 'This is often considered to be man’s first attempt at a calendar,' she explained. ‘My question to you is this – what man needs to mark 28 days? I would suggest to you that this is woman's first attempt at a calendar.’ It was a moment that changed my life. In that second I stopped to question almost everything I had been taught about the past.” - Sandi Toksvig |
