<<~ what a beautiful day this Sunday has been. I've managed to not do a whole lot except spend time in reflection, read here - off and on today, and it just occurred to me that I am starving. I must make something to eat. I'm thinking I will make.... French Toast. *yes* Heavy on the maple syrup and make some homemade hot chocolate and heavy on the cinnamon, too. :)

<<~ is staying in bed today, listening to the quietness in the neighborhood today: cars driving by slowly, a lawn mower in the distance, the wind chimes on my patio deck and will probably drift off to dreamland again before long. Hopefully, I will feel better tomorrow.

<<~ I have been in the kitchen, for the most part, today. I am making a batch of Garlic-Rosemary bread: 2 loaves, a pan of rolls and breadsticks out of the left over dough.

I also am making a soup for tonight. It takes all day to make it. What I do is take fresh, organic vegetables (carrots, celery, onion, tomatoes) and take half of my supply and make juice out of them for a soup base. Then I take the other half of the supply and slice them up, as well as adding Crimini mushrooms and ginger root and beets and slice them up too. I simmer the vegetables in the juice until they become very tender. Then I turn the heat down on low and add shredded roast pork and cilantro and a few leaves of basil and a small chile pepper to the soup base and let it simmer on the lowest setting possible for about 3-4 hours. About an hour before supper, I add a handful or two of cous cous to it.

So, this is what my son and I are having for supper tonight: homemade soup and bread. :)

Was out for pizza with my 6yo first-grader baby-butch/possibly TG granddaughter today, asking about her day, and got this tidbit. "There's this girl in second grade who likes me. She keeps following me around the playground and watching me. She thinks I'm a boy. I think she knows I have a girl body but she still thinks I'm a boy. She thinks I'm hot."

Oh dear Maude, she's SIX and already has an older girl (baby femme?!?) thinking she's hot. I explained that six year olds can't be hot, only teenagers, but this was largely just rambling in order to keep from howling with crazy laughter in the restaurant.

I'm on my 3rd cup of coffee, laundry detail is calling my name, then get ready for work this afternoon. If I have the energy after work tonight, I might go to a private party hosted by a group of friends I have known for years.... do a little bit of sofa surfing tonight, because last time I went to a summer party they had back in July, I was in no shape to be taking the train home by myself, late at night. SoOoOoOoo, I guess it's *ciao* for now. :)

Going to Ventura for the weekend with my babe and her kiddo for some beachin, antiquing and outlet shopping!! Yay! :-)

<<~ at first, earlier when I crawled into bed to snuggle with my pillows, I drifted off into a deep sleep. But somewhere between then and now, I began to have this dream that turned into a nightmare of sorts. It all started with that "deserted island" post I made earlier with three things we wished we could have if some package came floating our way. I became terribly distressed when it wasn't a floating package with books, music or a movie to watch, but rather a boat with a flimsy set of directions, no binoculars and just one oar with a mysterious haiku type message scratched onto it, begging me to come over to some nearby island. Needless to say, I must have been thrashing in my sleep which caused to me to come awake, because I was lost at sea and began panic!

I hope I can fall asleep again. :praying:

<<~ woke up rather late today: I'm enjoying that small privilege right now since it's rare for me to sleep in late at all. It was very, very chilly last night (39 degrees?). The air is still laced with chillyness even though it's still the noon hour. Don't have any plans today; will continue with my morning routine, begin to think about what I will make for supper this evening, might even go for a walk in the sunshine today. For certain, today feels like another very, v e r y, quiet day.

An Arcade Confession
 

<<~ Okay, Okay! I confess that I have had this obsession with trying to outdo the best score I had in the arcade from two years ago. So, I what I found out was this (see below):

1st place finishes: 0
2nd place finishes: 0
3rd place finishes: 0
TOP TEN finishes: 1

Total games in the arcade: 226
Total games I have played: 4 (out of 226 types of arcade games)

Total times I have played games in the arcade: 50, 2775


What's not true in the set of statistics above is that I *did* win 3rd place, two years ago. But someone else did a bit better than me, so that erased my lovely 3rd place finish. However, because I did win 3rd place at one time, I get to be in the category of placing once in the TOP TEN finishes.

The figure logged for how many times I have played my favorite card game to see if I can place again, as a 1st, 2nd or 3rd place winner, is accurate though (Minus a few Disco Bowling Ball games).

<<~ is having a cup of coffee w/ cream & cinnamon & honey this morning as I get ready for my day of activities and noticing how chilly it is outside; smoke from my neighbor's fireplace is spiraling toward the skies, which are cloudless - I can see for miles and miles (past the pine trees). It's probably about 44 degrees outside? It's chilly!

<<~ Got up about an hour ago and found three email invitationals for interviews next week. This could mean that the proverbial tide is turning, but I'm being super cautious in feeling excited (for the moment).

I work tonight and also after seeing an amended work schedule for the next two weeks, I see I am working the night of Bob Dylan's concert and also working the opening pre-season night of Basketball - The Blazer's first game of the season.

Also, I am listening to an All India Radio playlist this morning. Currently playing: Black Satin. I wonder if this song would be the song that ends this season's episodes of DEXTER.

<<~ Just got through making breakfast for myself: I made a smoked Salmon omlette and toasted 3 slices of Rosemary-Garlic bread (smeared with tons of butter). I am .... getting around for work. What I need right now is a tall cup of coffee w/ cream + honey + cinnamon + 4 shots of espresso and box of clementines to boost the Vit. C level I seem to lack today. My son must have read my mind, he just came out and asked me if I wanted some coffee ( I :stillheart: Mr. Ed).

My gf and I both grew up in minnesota, and now that we are both in state we love watching the Vikings games togather!! Its soo nice to have a gf that 1. Likes football 2. likes the same team as YOu 3. hates the packers just as much as you do!!
