Now, coffee and getting myself rolling for work.

Work. Many meetings today. Hopefully time around that to do more of what I really need to do at work.

Quick turnaround time at home and then...

Evening crew time rowing on the river- happy place!

Work through piles of papers related to my father's health care.

Zone out.

Sleep.

My neighbor just came in from up North. Snowbirds. She invited me to Tacos tonight. She is sad about my Mom. She always helped my Mom bring in the trash can.

She also told me she wants to plant a hibiscus in her honor. I wish she could have been her the night she died. I could have really used a hug from her.

We will have fun tonight!

Bèsame* 08-10-2024 02:52 PM

ahhhhhh, finishing up a pedicure. Soft pink toes.
I have the rest of the evening to myself. I see a lavender facial later.

Well....we had a beach Day at Clearwater Beach today. This beach has super white silky sands. The water temp has cooled down Lucky us, the dolphins were so entertaining. They were closer to the shore and they were having fun, that's for sure. I love this beach and I'm not far from it, lucky me!

On the way home we stopped for ice cream. I've been wanting to try the Mexican Hot Chocolate flavor. It did not disappoint. Chocolate, cinnamon and some Cheyenne pepper. My fav now!

In a little while we will be heading downtown to a new brewery. We can sit under the trees and have dinner, try new brews and listen to some live music.

Now this has been a perfect Summer Day!

I’m having the granddaughters over today. We’re gonna go through the garden and pick the rest of the vegetables. I’m late getting The fall Garden in So I’ll be doing that too. I was too busy at work to focus on the garden the last couple weeks.

Bèsame* 09-28-2024 09:53 AM

Agenda...
First of I was able to sleep 3 hours past my alarm.
Do flying debris and leaf clean up around here.
Unpack hurricane evacuation stuff from car.
Some laundry.
Already went to grocery store, fruit and veggies are back in the house.

Watch college football later.
Butch bestie is coming over for dinner, more football and new drink specials. ( She's in charge)

I'm meeting a friend shortly to climb Black Mountain. It's my friend's birthday and almost retirement party. I think it's going to be a heck of a climb. I'm excited. It's a two hour drive each way and probably 5 hours of climbing so that's going to be a lot of my day. Then there will be showering, hydrating, and eating. Though we might go out to eat after in our dirty climbing clothes so we can have a toast to her milestones.

The garden club I belong to is having internal wars. The president versus the other officers. While I helped start this club, I chose not to be an officer. I’ve got way too much on my plate. But now that it looks like the club is going to fall apart, I need to get involved so that it doesn’t die completely. Today is an emergency meeting. I have to go!
After the meeting, my daughter is taking me to purchase some mum. When I get hom,. I’m going to paint some pots. I rooted a bunch of succulents and I’m going to repot them so that I can give them away as Christmas gifts.
And I’m probably going to make something called bubalinky chicken, something my mother was quite famous for

Stone-Butch 09-29-2024 03:22 PM

My agenda today

Slept very late today. Had a wonderful get together yesterday. The family brought the little one in for my birthday and got pizza on the way with a beautiful cake covered with candles lol. They were away for two months so I missed the little ones 8th birthday so we celebrated together opening gifts and having lots of laughs. It was wonderful to have a good day of sleep and rest.

I think today is my last day of Monday PFLA. My dad's needs are more scattered now so I can't cram all of his appointments into Mondays. We do have cardiology this afternoon. I have a big annual board meeting tonight for work and that's usually a fun one, bringing in our new board members.

This morning I have an external inspection for the house I'm buying so hopefully that all goes well!

nhplowboi 09-30-2024 09:07 AM

Belated birthday wishes Stonie!!! I hope it was a great day and wishing you the best in the coming year!

nhplowboi 09-30-2024 09:29 AM

Hang in there egf while you're juggling all your family needs. You will never regret being there to do what is needed. I speak from experience and I wish you strength in your undertaking of familial love.

Thank you, and agreed. I've been very intentional in my choices to make sure I was nearby when these times came, and here they are.

I have a rep from a local company coming out to give me an estimate on a few minor repairs (replacing a couple of doors and windows) and then a larger fix. I want to replace the middle roof of my home with the metal insulated panels I have seen on line. That will entail big $$$ but I spend $1500 a month in oil in cold weather and I think this would cut it down by a third. There is a ton of work here for this company if they do good work so we'll see.

Holy Cannoli! That's a heck of an oil bill. Def worth looking into your options.

It's been a busy day at work so far and looks like it will continue to be so. Then I was voluteered to join a work team for trivia night tonight at a local pub. It's a fundraiser for our domestic violence programs so... go team! (I suck at trivia...)

nhplowboi 10-01-2024 11:07 AM

Well that was an epic fail! When the rep started quoting me $3500 a window and $6000 to $8000 a door I thanked him for his time. I have gone back to Window World a cheaper option and I figure if they can give me 15 years a window it will work as that will be pretty near my expiration date. The Window World rep will be here on Saturday. The rep today did mention Foard Panels (made in the town next door) for the roof that would still need to be covered with metal but it is something I can explore.

I love the new orange/red metal roofs I am seeing on cabins around my locale! Good luck and I hope you find reasonable but very efficient windows, doors and roofs for your lovely home

I’m going to go and get my haircut. I’ve been keeping it short So that it’s more manageable. I like long hair but when I have it, I only just wear it up in a high ponytail.

Then I’m off to buy some clearance plants and bushes at Lowe’s. Lol.

I’ve already collected the fallen black walnuts. It’s my first season to harvest them and see if I can actually use them.

GeorgiaMa'am 10-04-2024 05:15 AM

- wash a load of laundry
- hope that 4 overnight last minute orders show up, as they are needed for vacay
- fold towels
- change sheets
- take Brittany to the doggy spa/kennel
- pack a bag to carry on and a bag to check
- copy notes from my day planner with hotel, flight, restaurant info
- wash dishes
- get up at 6 a.m. (hopefully after some sleep)
- pack my medical bag with CPAP and meds
- shave (something I don't usually do but I will make the effort for swimsuits and shorts)
- take my weekly injection
- LEAVE!

Part of me really misses the days when I could throw a swimsuit and a spare outfit in the back seat of the car and take off for the beach. But no, I need my creature comforts and all the stuff that keeps me alive, and I really don't want to drive that far any more.

easygoingfemme 10-06-2024 11:30 AM

GeorgiaMa'am I hope you're having a wonderful and well deserved vacation!

So far today, I visited my father, then visited a friend recovering from a rough surgery. Now I'm loading up to get in the car and drive a couple of hours to meet a friend for what should be an epic haunted house experience. Mwahahahaha.

I'm tired and haven't been sleeping well but I think this trip will perk me up!

GeorgiaMa'am 10-14-2024 03:36 PM

- pick up Brittany from the doggy spa/kennel and love, love, love on her!
- pay a bill
- empty trash cans
- order a new phone
- open packages that came while I was away

GeorgiaMa'am 10-27-2024 02:37 AM

- pay bills
- check in with a friend whose mother recently died
- try to sort out the ringtones on my new phone

I got a new to me hydroponic growing system, and I’ve been watching YT videos to help me get a feel for how they work and how to set them up. The system was in someone’s shed, and I bet he bought it to germinate seeds for his garden, but he never used it. Anyway, I just started a cycle with distilled water to clean it. I’ll probably run it again with dilute hydrogen peroxide next. Right now, I’m just getting the hang of the parts.

OOOh exciting! I got a mini hydro grower last year and am learning how to use it too. Last year it was good for indoor growth but not for transplanting outside ... hopefully next year works better!

I plugged in the grower and filled the tank with distilled water. The power button was blue and flashing, and I thought I read that the veg setting is the default, but neither the light nor the pump ever came on.What the hell

Reframing a 24"x36" poster that I was going to throw away. Mine is in a silver frame and I'm reframing it in a black frame similar to the one in the photo above.

Before tossing it out I took a look online to see if I could find it. I found it here going for as much as $1,500.

I decided to keep it and reframe it because mine is in very good condition even though I've had it for over 40 years.

I'll see if I can sell it.

easygoingfemme 11-04-2024 05:52 PM

Morning routine- coffee, read news, ready for work- check
Work. Hectic day oh my. - check
Therapy- thank goodness- check
Check in on parents- ongoing
Pajamas. A little Mary Jane. - check
I should eat dinner but am not hungry.
I shall now go between panicking about the election tomorrow and telling myself that panicking does nothing to help the situation.

Chancie 11-08-2024 06:53 PM

I’ve been paralyzed by anger and sadness since Wednesday at 3:21 am but we have a few social commitments, so I’m trying not to give up.

I’m making beer bread tomorrow, super easy, and we’re buying a pie, to bring to a neighbors’ home.

easygoingfemme 11-08-2024 07:10 PM

Well. I got through work. It's more rough than usual with everything going on.

I spent some time collecting broken pieces of glass from where we have been smashing things. Our rage space. We will make art of it.

I cooked a healthy dinner for my mom and I.

I stopped over at the house I'm readying to buy. It's a family house so I'm grateful I can do that. Did a little this and that.

But my goodness I'm exhausted. I don't think it's daylight savings, though that isn't helping. This emotional ride and preparing for the fight to come feels like such a weight on my entire body. We needed more than four years to recover from the last time.

Soft*Silver 11-09-2024 03:21 PM

I had all kinds of plans and they got changed today. I was going to spend the long day in the garden, but I woke up with a scratchy throat and my ears hurt. So I just decided to stay in the house. I cleaned a little bit and I’m doing a load of linens. Brushed out the dog making a huge pot roast. I’m gonna read a book about the I 70 murderer Herb baumeister. I was gonna put up my tree today too, but when I decide to be lazy, I give myself full approval in regard to everything lol.

Bèsame* 11-09-2024 07:12 PM

Good day spending with friends.
Friend took me to breakfast this morning. Pancakes and great conversation!

Later, bestie butch took me dinner. Went out to the beach to watch her fav college team. Went to Hooters..lol. I've never been. Again, a good time with her as always.

I'm home now and I'm watching a Christmas Hallmark movie. Time for some good comforting feelings. 🎄 🎄 🎁 🎁

Orema 02-23-2025 09:26 AM

  • Listen to inspiring music, that's on the agenda e'ryday.
  • Read the news from an international perspective.
  • Do my taxes. Should be easy peasy as long as I have the right documents.
  • Watch some TV.
  • Make some gummies.

I should exercise, but I might not get to it. Should do some laundry, but that can wait, too.

Kätzchen 02-23-2025 10:44 AM

Every Sunday I work a bit on my personal project

We have an annual staff meeting after work today, but other than going to work and attending our staff meeting, I’ve been working on a project that my therapist and I began a couple years ago. I’ve been creating a journal of events and achievements from my lifetime, and including photographs from each event (etc). I found a small business out in Michigan that specializes in publishing these types of personal endeavors, so I’m publishing my private journal via this small business. I would have chosen a small business locally, but my favorite print shop went out of business during king chaos’s last reign of terror. I feel lucky that I found this fabulous print shop out in Michigan.

Probably the same things as yesterday. I'm not working today, I'm resting my strained hamstring. You know, it's a major part of your leg. You don't realize how much you use it until it hurts. And I always thought it was your back that ran everything. I over did it at work on Sunday.
So it's Netflix, crocheting, Court TV and....
I found a really cute cotton shower curtain. I'm taking off the trim and will make a top out of the actually shower curtain. It's a Bohemian mauve-y gauze. Perfect for Florida summer weather. 🌴🌴

Sorry about your hamstring! :(

Shower curtain: what a smart way to get a lot of fabric (presumably) inexpensively! Now that Jo Anne is closing all their stores, are you going to bargain hunt and stock up on supplies?

Most definitely!! I have my eye on the markdowns. I remember shopping at that store in So Cali, when it was called House of Fabrics. At times, I still refer to it like that. That was so many yards and outfits ago. Some times it was curtains and quilts.

I have bought fabrics on line but it's so hard to determine what it feels like. I have also bought garments to repurpose. However, I have lots of fabric in my Mom's stash.

- Today I have to get my battery jumped off and drive around awhile. My car has been sitting since before Christmas. The few times I have gone anywhere it has been easier to take Lyft or I rode with someone else. But now I need my car back.

- Seriously clean the kitchen.

- Cut up a pork loin into chops and freeze them and some chicken pieces. I got a good sale.

- Call Orkin and the handyman.
