Battleship. Always like a good, "good guy vs bad guy" action movie. Man I miss walking the decks of a Navy ship. I'm ready to serve another 20 if I get called back up. Bring it!!!

Last night I attempted to watch White Palace but fell asleep......no reflection on the movie of course I was just tired........
|
Chuck Stars: Michael Rapaport, Elisabeth Moss, Naomi Watts & Liev Schreiber
A drama inspired by the life of heavyweight boxer Chuck Wepner. He was the pride of Bayonne, New Jersey, a man who went fifteen rounds in the ring with Muhammad Ali, and the real life inspiration for Rocky Balboa I really liked it.............:movieguy: |

I watched a somewhat odd but enjoyable movie last night on Netflix called Waffle Street....
stars: James Lafferty, Danny Glover, Julie Gonzalo Waffle Street is an adaptation of James Adams' 2010 memoir of the same name. After being laid off at the hedge fund where he worked, and further jaded by his culpability in the crisis, Adams chose to work at a popular 24-hour diner. Offering a fresh take on the fallout of corporate greed, Adams' is a tale of the redemption and unlikely friendship found under the tutelage of Glover's character Edward, the best grill man in town. |

I had a movie day on Thursday. I saw all of these movies.
It wasn't Oscar-worthy but it made me laugh. Normally, I don't like movies that do jerky flashes and mix up the sequence of events but I liked this one quite a bit. This movie is junk food and candy for your brain. It just so happens that I enjoy junk food and candy. This was pretty interesting. The ends were tied up too nicely for my preference it was decent. OMG, I cried. Such a good movie that will tickle all of your feelers. |
Shot Caller ~ the trailer has some spoilers~
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, also known as Jamie Lannister in GOT, in a totally different role that starts with him as a stockbroker Everyman out for a night with his wife and another couple.
It winds up with him somewhere that he never would have dreamed in his former life. His acting is outstanding and the movie is sobering. It is violent but goes with the territory. |
Saturday Evening I re-watched Philomena (2013)
|
We saw this a few days ago. Very good and very sad.
|
We saw this yesterday and it was really good. Very funny too!

Any cinephiles interested in film festivals? I keep wanting to go... and then keep forgetting... about the Austin Film Festival which takes place in October. I mention Austin's just because it was advertised this morning on the radio. If there was a festival elsewhere .... and there were others also interested in attending... I'm game! :)
