The picture in the gallery. My fiance was thoughtful enough, and had the forethought to carry the cancer flag thousands of miles, in her pack and take it with her in memory of someone that so deeply touched my life. I can not help but smile to know she is so thoughtful.
I saw that picture and smiled so big at the of Lisa's spirit and my honey on top of the mountain together. I had to giggle at the thought of that conversation. What a blessing to had Lisa such a special be in my life and be taken out so young. What a blessing to have such a thoughtful woman as my fiance in my life. Who could not smile at that?

I have learned that my best friend and I can do anything or nothing at all and still have the best time. That makes me smile to just think about it.

What made me smile today...

I went to the mall on my lunchbreak, to order a cookie cake for my gf's birthday Friday. I watched two small children, squeal with delight over Elmo shaped cookies with TONS of red icing (which was more on their faces, than in their mouth). It's a reminder that it's the little things that should always make us smile.

Our next door neighbours youngest boy is in love with Pirates of the Carribean right now, so I lent them the first movie on DVD, he watches it daily, as a reward for staying in his own bed the sleepy time fairy got him his own pirate outfit, with sword, cutest kid, and now he's got his own princess to rescue, the family on the other side of our house has a little girl, a few years older who loves being a princess, and I got to watch the two of them playing out front together. Kids are too damn cute!

Slick doing better, she has a torn ACL, and has been in a lot of pain. We got her to the Vet yesterday and now we are lighter in the pocket, but richer in Spirit.

This made me smile today.

A guy friend of mine, Chris, at work made me smile today. He is a software developer too ... on another team. He and I both love gadgety stuff. I think he is very interesting to talk to and I enjoy hearing how he thinks.

Here is the story ...

Our AC was out at work for a week and a half but fortunately for me I was away in training for the first three days of last week. Thank God they fixed it and it was fine today.

On Monday, I started getting this idea of how to rig up something with my desk fan, a styrofoam cooler full of ice and a few feet of rubber tubing. I have been so busy putting out fires with server issues, that is as far as I got with collecting my thoughts about my desk cooling gadget. I have not really had a chance to go over and talk with Chris since probably last Thursday. Plus, it was so hot yesterday - I left after 4 hours ... thought I was going to blow my groceries all over my screen and keyboard.

Today I went over to visit Chris in his cubicle. Low and behold, there was my gadget I had been thinking of creating ... he had it up and running with coiled, hollow copper wire, an aquarium pump, a couple of large plastic soda bottles (cut and glued together) a bag of ice, some cardboard and the items I listed earlier. Much to my enjoyment, Chris took my idea into fruition. He even had a drain tube that trinkled over into his large plastic trash can which he emptied every couple of hours. Here is the good part - we never talked about this gadget until today and I never said a word to anyone about my idea. I tell you, I love this guy's mind .. and he is a very sweet person too.

This probably did not do anything for anyone else here at the site but it was intensely incredible to me to walk into Chris' cubie and view this functioning apparatus. I just stood there looking at it for a minute. (probably with my mouth open - :) ) Then I had to get my hands on it, turn it over and over ... examine every piece and see how he had rigged each connection. The copper tubing was icey cold and wet with perspiration. Totally awesome!! *huge grins* Made my day!

Another friend at work, Henry, has gotten me into braiding leather. I think these guys I work with are interesting people. All my life, I have always had "straight guy" friends. Every once in a while, I will stumble onto an asshole before I realize it ... but hey, that happens with any "specific group" of people.

Hey Gang, for those of you who made it through this lengthy tale, thanks for tolerating my long-winded story. I, for sure, can not blame the ones who bailed out at the beginning.

Time to let Kelly Bully out to pee, then we need to get to bed.
'night all ... sweet dreams to everyone ...
