Smile

Hi,

I am back on my bicycle. When I am riding my bike I feel free and riding down a hills with the wind in my face makes me so happy.

When I am happy I smile!

Chad

I ordered some books and I got the confirmation that they were shipped, it came in an email like this:

Hello Ronnie,

(Your book(s) asked to write you a personal note - it seemed unusual, but who are we to say no?)

Holy canasta! It's me... it's me! I can't believe it is actually me! You could have picked any of over 2 million books but you picked me! I've got to get packed! How is the weather where you live? Will I need a dust jacket? I can't believe I'm leaving Mishawaka, Indiana already - the friendly people, the Hummer plant, the Linebacker Lounge - so many memories. I don't have much time to say goodbye to everyone, but it's time to see the world!

I can't wait to meet you! You sound like such a well read person. Although, I have to say, it sure has taken you a while! I don't mean to sound ungrateful, but how would you like to spend five months sandwiched between Jane Eyre (drama queen) and Fundamentals of Thermodynamics (pyromaniac)? At least Jane was an upgrade from that stupid book on brewing beer. How many times did the ol' brewmaster have one too many and topple off our shelf at 2am?

I know the trip to meet you will be long and fraught with peril, but after the close calls I've had, I'm ready for anything (besides, some of my best friends are suspense novels). Just five months ago, I thought I was a goner. My owner was moving and couldn't take me with her. I was sure I was landfill bait until I ended up in a Better World Books book drive bin. Thanks to your socially conscious book shopping, I've found a new home. Even better, your book buying dollars are helping kids read from Brazil to Botswana.

Chad,
When I read this post I was reminded of an Ernest Hemingway piece that I came across the other day, so I thought I would share it with you,

"It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have ridden through as you gain by riding a bicycle."
– Ernest Hemingway

My client (the husband) was going out for his walk and I managed to encourage his wife to go along for some fresh air and exercise (never an easy task!)
I kind of held back a bit as we walked out of the house, giving them some alone time. They've been married nearly 60 years. They held hands as they walked... I thought for a minute I should just leave them to themselves. I had an awkward and indecisive moment... but then she held out her hand for me to take...and we all walked together down the street....
I confess....this makes me a tad bit weepy as I write this.... They make me feel like family... <3

So, this was yesterday...and I am still smiling about it today:

The 3 and 4 year olds I work with singing along with "Same Love" by Macklemore when it came on the radio.

Totally made me mushball with a huge, "OMG how cute are you all?!?!?!"

Smiling from ...
accomplishments and the outcome of some tedious manual labor...
critter hugs and play time with a sweet pup that seems happier after his much needed shave ...
my tight knit circle of friends that never let me stray very far...
the quiet of a peaceful house ...
getting buzzed by a momma hummingbird ...
head buts and gentle kisses from my Joey kitty who decided to luv on mee instead of chase the chickens ...
and IT'S FRIDAY !
