Clay, I'm so glad your home. Now it's the next steps. I'll never forget the sound of those winds and the pounding rain. We have earned our Cat 3 Merit badge for sure!

I was without power at my house for 44 hours. My refrigerator was a mess. My ice maker stopped and caused what ice I had to flood the shelves inside. Ok, I'll take that because I still have my roof!

Today I drove outside of my little neighborhood, the things I saw 😓

I'm glad all of us are ok.

I’m bumping this thread today for folks living in states lining the eastern coast of the US or even folks who live on the coasts of the Gulf of Mexico. Hurricane season — last we knew from NOAA before current admin of the US dismantled the weather agency — foretold a very dangerous season ahead for hurricane strikeS, tornadoes and other hazardous weather events (fires).

Please know that we care about your safety going forward. If you are experiencing hazardous weather, please check in here so we know your status and if you’re safe or not.

May peace and safety be yours during these highly tumultuous times. :vigil:

Same here, except when I got lucky and had to go out to an appointment and it was sunshiney.

Yesterday in Charleston, South Carolina …

Massive rain and lightning strikes during their morning commute.

Scary, scary, stuff.

Climate change is real. Please take good care and remember to vote for people who will uphold regulatory policies to make the world better. :vigil:

Severe Weather Check-in

Another sunny cool day with rain on the way (love it). 70F for the next few days then up a bit. Goes to hot. Weather is like a yo-yo.

There has been stormy weather in my metro area: the orange flavored dementia team tried to send the National guard to terrorize us, but because we keep things weird, they just don’t get their way. We have ways of communicating clearly certain words they don’t like to hear. No, is a word we have no problems using. :)

We have rain for the next few days.

Trees are showing their gorgeous shades of orange, gold, and reds. So pretty.

Cool nights, kind of warm days. Intermittent rain with billowing pillow clouds racing across the skies.

I’ve been hearing about severe weather events across the country: massive winter snow storms, and out here— massive rain events, stuff we used to get quite often on a daily basis, but it’s been anything but wet since the late 1990s. Something changed during the early 2000s and now environmental disasters are practically happening on a repeated basis with no regard for any one season. Each season has its own unique weather systems which pack a serious ‘punch’.

We’ve got serious water problem hazards, for sure. Last time we had a recent similar event, trees fell into homes causing devastating damage. We’ve had lots of serious scarring burns through out nearby counties. Too much rain and trees fall, land slides, and roads in bad repair become worse than they already are.

I’m hoping some form of milder weather with sunshine arrives soon.

Severe Weather Check-in!

Well it has finally happened. It has been snowing all night and hasn't stopped yet. It is really cold and windy and tons of snow still falling. I guess a white Xmas is in store for us after all. They have a lot up north and apparently it has been snowing for days. Things are shutting down for lack of mobile abilities. Many highways are closed and in some places public transit is a no go. Well, winter is here Canada so we are back to normal.

Kätzchen 12-10-2025 08:34 PM

We still have over 10 days more of serious rains affecting Washington and Oregon. They have it worse than we do, just north of here.

Please stay safe: :vigil:
