I ran 7 miles on the snowy/icy trail and it was 21°.
My phone and water froze.

And I just did day 7 of the 30 day plank challenge.

Gemme 01-08-2017 09:43 AM

I just spent over 2 hours shoveling snow.

That's between 700-800 calories burned and I can feel it in my shoulders and lower back. Oy.

Medusa 01-08-2017 01:41 PM

I've hit 10k steps every day this week!
I'm at 2500 so far today so I'm about to get a move on. Shooting for 10-11k every single day to get my body used to the rhythm again.

Feeling great!

nycfem 01-08-2017 09:44 PM

I went to the gym and did my usual routine of late: 30 min stairmaster (levels 1-4), followed by 30 minutes of weight lifting and floor exercises. I had a teeny tiny bit of asthma because I am not exercising regularly enough but not enough to cause me any problems.

I've been watching this netflix doc series about different episodes of people held as hostages. It's not that well-done, so it makes the exercise a bit harder to not be watching something I'm all that into.

Medusa 01-08-2017 10:10 PM

I just hit 10,200 steps for the day. I went ahead and started a step challenge on Fitbit with a bunch of people to stay motivated this week. Hoping I can hit 10k every day this week too!

I work in a huge building with 5 giant urban high schools in it, so I took my 30 minutes lunch to walk around the building. There's a lot of security so I felt a little self-conscious but didn't have anyone bother me luckily.

Gemme 01-09-2017 09:37 PM

More shoveling plus some sweeping and general movery.

I tell you what - Winter is no joke up here in the mountains. Not only the shoveling, but the roof raking, and hauling firewood, among other things. I guess I'm grateful to be forced into physical activity during these months when it's so easy to hibernate, even though every bit of my body aches. There is something satisfying about getting shit done, knowing I earned that Epsom salt bath.

Each morning (okay, 5-6 mornings/week) I do a 30 minute workout, usually some combo of yoga and Essentrics. Most days I walk a couple miles in addition to my various chores. At least this is my winter routine.

So far today- I've done my workout, a walk, and planning more roof raking later before it snows some more.

nycfem 01-14-2017 09:05 PM

Saturday night work out. 30 minutes stairmaster (levels 1-4), then 30 minutes combined weight lifting, yoga, and floor exercises. It is always very quiet on a Saturday night.

homoe 01-14-2017 09:17 PM

Yes quiet on Friday and Saturdays, but come Sunday they all flock in to burn off those excess calories they consumed..lol

firegal 01-14-2017 09:20 PM

Today i worked on apt ths morn and football the rest of day fit bit is only at 6500 right now and i,m ok with that.

Gemme 01-15-2017 08:21 PM

Not today. Today was mild and relaxing but yesterday, I spent about 5 hours-combined-doing manual labor (sweeping, mopping, etc).

SmoothButch 01-16-2017 05:52 PM

Ran seven miles out on the trail and burned 886 calories.

cinnamongrrl 01-16-2017 06:02 PM

Started my morning with yoga

Did some weight/step training after

And I got a surprise reprieve from an appointment and took the dogs for a 2 hour, very steep hike.

I've been focused on eating better and it's really making a change to my energy :)

nycfem 01-16-2017 10:22 PM

Stairmaster 30 min (Levels 1-4), yesterday and today.

I'm lovin' it :)

candy_coated_bitch 01-16-2017 10:29 PM

I walked to the post office and the coffee shop and back home.

tantalizingfemme 01-17-2017 12:10 PM

I go on the treadmill for an hour every morning before work, but have found myself feeling restless in the late afternoon. I do a lot of hiking after work and on the weekends in the warmer weather but stopped once it got colder because I didn't have warm hiking clothes. So I sucked it up last night and bought a few pairs of insulated hiking pants and a good outdoor jacket. (Thank you REI) So I am hoping that hiking after work three or four times a week and on the weekend will quell this restless feeling. Plus it keeps me ready for summer time. I love being in the exercise groove.

SmoothButch 01-25-2017 12:59 AM

Spent 30 minutes on my biceps and triceps lifting. Tomorrow is another three mile run and eight miles planned for Saturday.

cinnamongrrl 01-25-2017 06:13 AM

It was yesterday..

I took the dogs on a challenging hike. A whole lot of uphill and scrambling over rocks and such. It's hard to scramble with 3 dogs on leashes.

I also carried my poodle all the way down. Idk if that counts. (He's only 14 lbs) he was cold and gave me the look. Poor puddin.

I also cleaned and I say it counts. I need to step up my home workouts (or join a gym) I found an awesome kettle bell set at Aldis so I'd like to try that

cinnamongrrl 01-25-2017 01:23 PM

I did a 30 minute kettle bell workout that I found on YouTube.

Gotta say...I love how it makes me feel. It's a good multi tasking exercise. I'm hooked :)

I'm really glad I got the kettle bell set. Different exercises required different weights. I got the variety pack of 5, 10 and 15lbs. All for $20. I say it's a bargain. Just one at Wal-Mart was $12

Medusa 01-25-2017 03:06 PM

I've hit 10k+ steps every day for the last 4 days. Yesterday it was close to 14k.
Trying to build my endurance back up and hit 15k every day!

JDeere 01-25-2017 06:05 PM

Walking, I do quite a bit of walking at work.

easygoingfemme 01-25-2017 08:21 PM

I walked around a fair amount at work and made sure to visit the residents on the third floor a few times so I was up and down the stairs. That's about all I had time for.

cinnamongrrl 01-25-2017 08:24 PM

I took the dogs for a hike on steep terrain (is there anything else in the Appalachians??) for about an hour and a half before work.

Gemme 01-25-2017 08:27 PM

I spent the vast majority of the day sweeping and cleaning.

cinnamongrrl 01-26-2017 09:41 PM

I over did it yesterday; my thighs feel like lead.

Today was just some nice yoga. It helped me move a little easier too.

firegal 01-26-2017 10:24 PM

my last2 weeks of remodel my mother in law was so off the chart i have loved my last 2 days of 6000 on my fitbit.I feel like it was a Vac-cay!

Exercise

I want to preface this with I started out strengthening my quads for a two year old knee replacement so baby steps. My goal is to ride my bicycle without falling down and to briskly walk and/or climb stairs with ease. Maybe even go dancing. :)

I go to PT three times a week. I do leg crunches, leg lifts, and ride the stationery bicycle. I ride the bike 1.5 miles each time so far that is 4.5 miles a week. My goal next week is 10 miles. I get some cardiovascular exercise but want to increase it every week.

Riding the bike and exercise in general makes me happy and I feel much better overall.

Today 10 minutes of leg crunches, 30 leg lifts, and seven minutes on the bike.

cinnamongrrl 01-27-2017 07:53 PM

Today was yoga followed by weights for the upper body. Then I did a standing ab workout I found on YouTube. It snuck in some leg work and cardio. I did ok once I was warmed up.

Then later I did a little uphill hiking with the dogs.

Also cleaning intermittently throughout the day.

I feel pretty good about all that.

tantalizingfemme 01-28-2017 05:29 PM

Great day for a hike! 4 miles on the treadmill this morning followed by a 6 mile hike along a river.
