Anyone who did the "postsecret project" I mailed out your packages! :). Can't wait for everyone to enjoy them as much as I have!
Also please PM your address to ahk if you would like for him to send you his card individually. Thanks, everyone, for participating! Can't wait to wrangle it again next year :) |
I got an ART card from Katniss and it is beautiful! That's a shame. I hope that everyone gets her cards. And yes...hobby lobby is homophobic. So sad. I buy toys from there. Rockets! Not anymore.

It's not that I didn't finish, but for whatever reason, both packages that I sent to NYC have not made it to her, but back to my house saying "return to sender" -- Thank you. |
I got my package. What lovely work, everyone!
Congrats on the engagement, Jennifer! |
I got mine!!! They are fabulous and I am ready to do this again!

One week left...
to work on your ATC's.
How is everyone doing? I will walk over to the post office this afternoon and see if I have any mail. Looking forward to seeing everyone's work. Happy creating everyone. |
I'm sitting in the airport on my way to Canada as I sit here typing ..... Have my cards all ready to go ...... Will mail them on Monday! Have a great 4th of July to all my American friends!
Deb |
I am hoping to rejoin this group again. I had to leave last year when I was opening my store. This year, I am moving the store, lock stock and barrel, AND I am getting married. Both things are happening on or before July 14th. Once its all over, I will need some creative outlets. I am aching for some projects!
By the way, the lovely sign you all made for the store.."you are so beautiful" is traveling with me. We havent decided where it will go up but its going up! My customers have even asked me not to forget it! |
AND ........

........ they're OFF!!! WOOT!!!! Mailed my cards this morning! And, then mailed my $10 to assist with postage as somehow my jet-lagged mind FORGOT to tuck it in with the cards. Sending fairy glitter to everyone that is working on their cards ..... enjoy the process! Deb |
i have not gotten mine started yet. Was waiting for my payday that came and went, along with any ability to do so.. i humbly apologize for not being able to do anything sooner.
|
Don't we have until the 11th? You early birds are making the procrastinator nervous LMAO.
I can't wait to see what everyone has done. :) |

Hi everyone,
ugh! I do not like doing this but I have no choice. Life has really gotten in the way of this project for me. I am going to have to bow out at this time. I've got only four cards made thus far and there is so much crazy going on for me right now that I just won't be able to complete the rest in time. Please forgive me and pardon any inconvenience this has caused. I really hate backing out of things I have given my word on doing. Besides, I was having a lot of fun with it. ~Bleu |
Hey, Bleu,
While everyone talks at the beginning about getting them in on time, you were one of three people at most who got the last project in on time! :D I didn't get people's cards for up to three months after the due date (and I'm not just talking a few on the list!). So while I certainly don't advocate for that long a delay, this is a pretty forgiving group when it comes to things being on time. Since you've already made 4 (and a few of us have already made you yours), I hope you will think about staying in the project. Your art is always a pleasure. Would you consider continuing to participate and just taking a few extra weeks? Jennifer Quote:
|
Bleu, if you agree to stay in, I won't feel so bad, because at this point I was ready to say the same thing you did, but I felt really guilty about it. I don't think min ewill be 3 months late, but I do think they might end up being a month to 6 weeks late. Somehow "Life" snuck up on me...and I've done some scrambling to make money for my trip to the reunion...thus working more than 10 hours days and getting to the point of exhaustion. I know it will be worth it in September, but i also feel like I'm letting a group of friends here down. I am sorry, but mine will be late.
|
Bleu, I won't mind if your ACTs are late, either. Things have been really, REALLY stressful for me right now. And while I am pretty certain mine will go out on time for this project--I have a couple other outstanding projects. I owe people letters, and pictures, and journal entries. Life does get in the way sometimes. *shrug.
I'm not sure how others feel. I am fairly patient. I would also encourage you to participate in any way you can. (((Bleu)))) |
Okay, first off, I am a forgiving person. And, I totally understand that life does get in the way. However, I joined this project based on the date of commitment due to my being able to be in Canada to send and receive said project. I trust the Canadian and American postal system; I do not trust the Chinese postal system. Every package that is sent into China is inspected - anything on the ATCs that are deemed inappropriate will result in the entire package being destroyed. Is there a possibility that there could be some consideration given to the situation I am in? Thoughts?
On a side note, yes, I have participated in ONE project several years ago ..... I did received the Altoid tin and I did contact the sender directly to insure there would be nothing untoward on the tin. The tin arrived in China Post packaging as it had been inspected - some of the décor needed to be reattached due to the inspection. Deb |
I'm okay with extending the deadline a bit but I do see where sis is coming from. Not sure where that leaves us. Guess laruss will let us know.
|
Sis, your line of thinking makes a lot of sense. Is there an amount of time that it could be extended that would not conflict (i.e. like two weeks) or would even that be pushing it?

|
Sis, I understand. I will try hard to do them ASAP. Thank you for letting us know this. It does matter to me.
|
sis, I do understand, too. It's really difficult sometimes to accommodate everyone. :( It makes total sense that you signed up for a project and expected it to be done by the deadline. (obviously) For some of us extending the deadline or getting a couple cards late makes no difference, but I totally understand not wanting to receive mail in China.
Hopefully we can figure out something that makes sense for the most people. I have a question, actually: Is it ok to designate each of my cards to a specific person? |
CCB, I wrote on the back of each of my cards who they should go to, I believe.
|
I would like to wait and hear what the latest date would be for sis to receive them in time before she has to leave.
I know that in the last project I was late, I tried to bow out as my life got a bit crazy. I would love everyone to be able to participate but I don't want sis to not get her package either. So, lets see what she says and everyone who can, please get them in on time and for those few who may be late hopefully it will be within her timeline. If that time line doesn't work for a few we can always send the extras to the raffle, unless they are personalized in which case I could send them their few. |
WOW! Lets see how we can accommodate as many people as possible. My thoughts are ..... I leave on August 16th very early in the morning. I would like to think it would be great to have my packet by August 10th - I want to show them to friends here as they saw the ones I sent. I think that would easily allow a two-week delay in the deadline. However, does this fit with Laruss's schedule as I do believe she has another project after this one and may not have time to send out the packets.
Deb PS: I didn't designate who is to get my cards. |

Waiting, not waiting, cut off dates, delays and etc.

To the best of my recollection, and without going back 10 years....In the recent past, and distant past... I know we closed the date, and if you were late , you did not get the project package, and participants did not get your work. Your piece either returned to you and you sent each one to the participants individually, or along those lines. I would suggest that we do it this way again. Otherwise, new wranglers, new participants, and new projects can get pushed back two to three months. We all want to enjoy the " Penpals, Scrapbookers, Postcard Artists and Other Creative Types". 2 cents from one who has been late in the past ;) http://www.stickingtobusiness.com/cf...ling_cents.gif |
Money too
Oh, yes and in the rush to make the deadline,
I have been known..ahem..cough cough...to forget to include the money for mailing costs, then, I get to mail another letter off. :typewriter: http://www.playitagainsportsplacenti...Bill_thumb.bmp |

For me, one of the first considerations were the due dates - they really worked well for me. I wasn't so sure about the actual project but I spent time researching it and thought 'yes I can'. I eventually picked up the supplies (I bought a couple of sheets of watercolour papers, cheap kids watercolours, a fine-tipped black marker, and embellishments) and let them sit there for two weeks. Finally, someone posted that they were mailing theirs so I realized I needed to really focus on the ATCs. Truly, 'I went to town' and I was done in one evening including making a few samples to 'get the hang of it' (my cards are VERY simple). I really like the concept of our wrangled projects ..... it gives those participating a goal, something to look forward to, joy, creative outlet ..... but, it can also become an added pressure as the due date comes around. Thoughts??? Deb |
I have set this Sunday aside to do mine. I will have them in the mail unless everyone decides that the July 11th due date is final. I am sorry for my delay. I need to know if people still want them then and how I get them to people. I will go with whatever people decide. I will not sign up again unless I am setting a date to actually do the project and have the supplies. I'm sorry to everyone who is participating for my lateness.
|
Roll Call!
Perhaps I'm being a bit presumptuous here but would it be possible to have a 'roll call' regarding when participants are able to get their ATCs into the mail? I think this would be helpful information for adjusting the due date.
Deb |
Mine will be out on the 11th. I like to live dangerously like that. :)

Mailing woes...
Thought I would share a couple of thoughts on this project as it was the first one I could participate in. When the project was first mentioned I Googled "ATC" and every site stressed these were to be quick/easy/cheap little cards. I did mine plus a few "trials" in one afternoon and as Sis said the supplies were minimal. I used scrapbook paper, india inks and some embellishments. Nothing fancy. The hardest part for me was slotting the time but once I sat down to it things went quickly. I'm posting this for those who may feel discouraged because it really does go fairly fast but I made mine generic and not addressed to a specific individual.
I do want to warn those in the U.S. about utilizing UPS. If you do (and I do not recommend it) make sure you do not use the first address Laruss sent. UPS will not deliver there. It cost me $19.00 to ship the first time then when I asked to re-route they again charged me $19.00 (even though it was still in Canada) *plus* a $14.00 re-routing fee. Ridiculous!!! I'm not complaining just wanted to throw this out there in case anyone was considering UPS as a courier especially if you are down to the wire. I am really looking forward to all the cards and hope we can keep doing projects like this! Katniss~~ |
Ok, lets give those few stragglers this weekend to finish. Get them in the mail on Monday as it does take much longer to get here because I am in Canada. And you want to send them USPS, so as not to be charged the ridiculous amount that Katniss was charged by UPS.
That way I should have them all by the end of the month and I can get them mailed off and sis will have hers before she leaves, as she is in Canada and should have them within the week. For those in the States it will be about 2 weeks. If you don't have them sent by Monday and you want to pay the extra postage to send by UPS just make sure you get my home address before you send them. This will give you about an extra week, but cost you more. Those who still cannot get them done, I suggest we send the extras to the raffle unless they are personalized in which case I will mail them to you. How does this sound? |
YAY!!! i got my cards done anddd in the mail today!!! With some help from a couple of Wonderful People i was able to figure it out ... i hope what i did was good enough..

My cards will go out either Saturday or Monday via USPS because I'm a big ole cheapo like that. Oh, and I may have gone a bit overboard on things. The way I look at it is that my stuff will balance out the nicer, simpler, more sophisticated cards. :cheesy: |
