Still seems to fit

I wrote this a while back and as I stumbled across it once again I find that it still fits as to how I feel. Hope you enjoy:

What my advert would look like if I were a car.

One older model car, slightly used....... well had the shit kicked out of it a few times. You can find a dent or 4 in the body. A bump here and there.

Had more then one owner in its lifetime. Would have loved to have been able to say one owner vehicle. I think that would be unrealistic in this day and age. Had a few overhauls through the years. It has had a few crashes hitting the wall of love. Thankfully I have found a good mechanic to put me back together on these rare occasions.

The heart of the car has been damaged, cracked at times. I'd like to think that is what makes the car what it is. As far as the engine goes it has spunk at times, prefers the slower pace rather then the drag racing it once did when it was a newer model.

Is reliable, will start each and every morning. Sometimes if it's really cold outside (resides in Canada) it takes a try or two to turn over, but it eventually does start.

You will hear a creak or two from it. I chalk that up to hitting the wall of love and some stunt driving in earlier years. If you wash it and rub it in certain areas you can get a shine to come out. If you look at it at different angles you might even see it glow once in a while.

The interior: I've been told the interior is what sells this old car. Leather seats, heated, soft in some places and hard in other places. Always has a new car smell we all like. Clean, never had a smoker in it until a week ago. Will put a stop to that shortly.

I'm a unique car, not a automatic or standard car. 8 cylinder, does have the power to take off and go. Prefers Sunday Country driving compared to the hustle, stop and go of city driving.

After the last crash into the wall of love I thought about a new paint job. Hide the dents and bumps. Reconsidered as that could be construed as false advertisement. I've always believed what you see is what you get. No surprises. I think I'll keep it the way I am for now.

I've had a few people test drive me. Kick the tires, do a once around. Some even got in and took me for a test drive. Took me out on the highway/interstate, full throttle to see my performance, how I handled myself. there were a couple of people I thought might decide to keep me but in the end they needed more time to decide. It's a big decision to buy a car, become a responsible car owner.

If you look at the successful " drivers" they make quick decisions and stand by them. If they contemplate changing the decision they take their time and think it through. The rest of the "drivers" take their time in making decisions, their afraid of the speed of the car, scared of crashing. Over analyze everything. When they second guess their decision that took them forever to make they change it quickly without any thought process. That my dear friends is the wrong way to go about life.

The drivers that decided to give me a test run in the beginning knew where they were going. Knew what they wanted or at least had an idea as to what they wanted. At some point during the "run" they weren't sure where they were going or what they wanted. Did they want a sedan or a sport car.Did they want comfortability or a car made for speed. It was push on the gas and step on the brakes. What I call jerking, stop and go motion. they would signal a right turn but change and turn left instead.I was confused, all I could do was follow as best i could. You as the driver controlled how fast we went, what direction you wanted to take us is.

I'm thinking of putting a bumper sticker that reads handle with care, fragile. I've never put bumper stickers on before. thought that was the fun of owning a car. To find out how it runs, how it handles under certain conditions through the every day use. No fun knowing ahead of time what a car can do or what every gadget is. A little mystery or surprise is good I think.

I'm taking the for sale sign off the windshield. It's been a long journey, a few pot holes, detours, bridges closed. there have been some long stretches of open road adventures, smooth pavement. There have been some lonely years where I wasn't used, locked up in the garage until the next potential owner came along and test drove me. I think it is best to sit idle in my remaining years and let the newer model cars take over the roads of tomorrow

My supervisor's first grand child is here today ... a day early.

He has a healthy grand daughter, a little over 7 pounds. I was pulling for a boy but it really didn't matter. Yesterday he was so excited, acting terribly goofy. *laughing* I get the same way when I am excited about something.

I am very happy the baby is here and all is well with Mommie and baby girl.
