Last night our sister city on the other side of the river was catching the worst lightning storm ever of over an hour it rumbled and lightning popped hard right along with hard blowing wind. Then it got real quiet for a while, that's when I thought ....take cover nados coming... but then we got the rain, and more rain that when on for ever it seamed like. I felt sorry for anyone who had already put out the trash to be picked up in the morning, probably got blown away any way.
Today its just muggy and cloudy with the temps live able. who knows about tomorrow. |

UPDATE for TS Hermine
The winds are now at 70mph with this storm, & she is supposed to become a Cat. 1 hurricane in next few hours. She is 150 miles from Tampa...BUT she is unleashing her fury...
Couple of tornadoes are occurring a few miles from me, as well as waterspouts offshore. My county has torrential rains, squalls are picking up, and since we are on the eastern side, or dirty side, will get a lot of this potential activity of tornadoes & waterspouts, flooding, & nasty ass rains in next 24 hrs. At the moment, she is due to hit land around 8pm tonight, up in the area called the big bend, or, panhandle....as a Cat 1. hurricane. Please check in folks, so we know you are all ok...I will as much as I can...hopefully we won't lose power here... Stay safe all my Fla. buds....:praying: |
One definite love I have for Texas is the storms... they are truly badass!!! I grew up on CA where we have no seasons. The thunder and lightening storms in here in the south are awe inspiring!
|
Winds & gusts with heavy rain off & on..in bands, or squalls. Still under tornado watch til 1100pm.
Hermine is about 40 miles south of Apalachicola....will most likely make landfall there in next two to three hours or so... I know a few of our peeps are in that area & west of there, so please....stay safe & check in when you can!! The next 24 to 36 hours will be some nasty remnants of weather for us... |
Still raining where I'm at but the wind slowed down some not a lot but some. And power outage.

Cedar Key Storm Surge
|
A band of severe weather is making its way North, from Sarasota, here. 50MPH winds, tornado watch til later this AM. I have been awake since 300am, and up since 500am....thunder & lightning moving in here...had a reprieve from rains for a little bit. Going to be a wet & stormy day....
Is just now getting light enough out to see.....Cedar Key took a major hit as did St. Marks.... Stay safe Fla peeps....as well as Ga & SC peeps!! |
We are clear here...just overcast with some drizzles. Sounds like that band has moved on up coast line.
I am tired...didn't sleep real well last night....had ears tuned to hearing any possible tornado approaching... The local pics are just horrible...up around Cedar Key & Steinhatchee got hit really bad, and up around Panama City Beach. We had the squalls, or bands, that would come, leave, return, etc... I will take this drizzly stuff any day! |
