Went to see Black Swan, not sure if I liked it or not.

THOR
*squeal* this could have possibly been posted in the guilty pleasures thread *b |
We saw When in Rome, The Expendables, and Tangled and we have Shrek 4 lined up and ready to go probably tomorrow. Tangled was excellent, if not a bit predictable, When in Rome was sweet, and The Expendables was like a dirty, gritty, low(er) budget Reds (not bad, just darker).

Three-and-a-half stars
So, about five years after reading Steve Martin's Shopgirl, I got around to the film version.
I really enjoyed the novella--what's not to love about Martin, anyhow? But, I was scared, especially when I read several negative reviews, that the film would disappoint me. My verdict: yes, the novella is better, but the film does capture the overall sense of the literary piece. I think the novella wins because of its density--the source being the narrator's voice, which only seldom surfaces in the film. (Oh yeah, one of the criticisms was that Martin's narrative voice compromised his character's portrayal. I disagree; in fact more of those interjections--in a play, perhaps--would be advantageous). |
Shrek 4 was adorable, as expected!

We watched Easy A tonight. Fantastic! I loved nearly everything about this movie and thought some of the themes were very relevant to today's issues. It reminded me a tad of 10 Things I Hate About You, which I also loved.
|
We watched The Other Guys and Scott Pilgrim vs The World.
The Other Guys was okay. There were some really funny lines, but overall only mediocre. Scott Pilgrim, however, ROCKED. We loved it. (We being me and a 15 y/o boy, so take that for what it's worth.) It was cool the way it would cut back and forth between people and video gaming. I also love the guy that was Scott Pilgrim, he was the guy in Juno. And then his roommate was McCauley Caulkins little brother. So handsome, not at all like his brother. Oh and I saw The Tourist the other day. It was really good too. And Angelina Jolie looked better than I've seen her look since Tomb Raider. A |

We LOVED Scott Pilgrim vs. The World!!!! We saw it a while back and both of us enjoyed it quite a bit. I loved the graphic comic book styling and pretty much everything else too. *grin* |

This is the best time for movies. Late in the year, most of the Academy Award hopeful are released.:trampoline: |
I've heard that the King's Speech was a great movie!

We watched SALT and The Town last night. Both quite good and I was impressed with Affleck as a director.
Two on the upcoming must see list True Grit and Hereafter! |
