Linus? I have a question tonight for you:

Sometimes when I am online here, I will be browsing threads and reading and while I am reading, the system logs me out. I don't know if this is a site related issue or maybe it's an issue concerning my notebook or an issue that is constrained to the internet connection or what.

I sometimes will become annoyed when this happens. Especially if I am making a post or what-have-you.

What do you think the issue is that I am having?
If it's my notebook or the internet, then I might be able to do something about it on my end. But I don't know if the issue is technically something on my end or if it's site related.

Any advice you have for me will be met with appreciation!

You won't receive mail notifications if you are online alot. I will have to check our system to make sure mail is moving forward in this regard. You may want to check your spam box to ensure it didn't get flagged as spam.

You can verify that threads are set for email notification by going to the UserCP --> List subscriptions and verifying that it has the word "Instant" beside the check box. If it doesn't and you want it to be instant, select the thread(s) in question, go to the bottom where the drop down menu option is and select "Instant email notification". Then select Go.

What browser are you using? This usually is a cookie or caching issue. My particular browser has allowed me to be connected since I first joined the site and the only time I'm not connected is when I deliberately log out. So this tends to be local to where you are.

Actually, anyone who might know this. I am looking around for more information about working with the gallery. Specifically the albums. I can't find anything like an overview or an FAQ.

I want to find out how to re-order photos within albums for adding and deleting to keep them current, how to choose the cover shot on each, what if I have a pic not in an album and want to move it into or out of. Those kinds of things and other questions I don't even know yet because I am just starting to try it. I need it s-l-o-w-l-y, I'm a bit challenged. :)

Is there a thread or FAQ?

Hrmm... I did a little poking on the back-end (QUIET, Ya PREVERTS!) and hopefully that helped.

We haven't created a thread or FAQ. At the bottom of your gallery you should be able to sort based on date uploaded, however (either ascending or descending in date). I'll have to check into the others later to see if I can provide some simple instructions.

I just checked it and it is working. I've restarted the email server so hopefully it's working for you. If not, when I get home this weekend I'll look into it further to see if there is anything else that I can do to get it working for you.

No. Because the gallery uses some java and flash.

Am I blind or can I not post reps or ratings in the gallery ...

I don't think we've ever had reps in the gallery. As for Ratings, they are now to the right of the picture (the stars). Just choose the value you want.

Ok not reps, but comments.. Sorry about using the wrong word.

I tested this and comments work. What browser (IE, Safari, etc.) were you using? Can you see the comment box?

My question: occasionally, the timing and the "last poster" listed will be wrong on the "new posts" page. For instance, the times will have been from the previous day, and the thread has already marched on from the last person listed. This seems to happen if I use the "back" button, and refreshing fixes it. I just wanted to bring it up to you.

So, on my iPhone, I can view galleries .. See all comments.
But I can't rate or make a comment.
Or am I just being blind.

I'm not sure if its a scripting issue with iPhone or not.

Which Opearting System (Windows or Mac?) and which version of Firefox (9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16?)

Windows OS and Firefox 16.0.2

Did you update the java before heading into chat?

Can you check the plugins for Firefox to see if java is enabled? (should be under Tools --> Add-ons)


Can you try getting into chat in IE?

my apologies if this has been addressed, but i couldn't find anything when I searched:

I'm having this odd issue where one of my photos says it has 7 comments but only 6 are visible. It's not a huge pressing dramatic problem or anything, i just thought it was really odd and wondered what was up with that. Any thoughts?

Hrmmm.. could be a weird glitch. There are no deleted posts and I only see 6 comments. We'll have to watch to see if we see more of this.

Pictures into albums
 

Because I was not thinking things through, I posted reunion pictures to my gallery without placing them in an album. My gallery is feeling a bit out of control. I would like them all in one album, or in the reunion 2012 folder so peeps can still see them but they are not all in my gallery-- or something done with all those pics so I may have my gallery back. And if I have to delete them is there a way to do more then one at a time? I have deleted a few and dang that takes for ever--It would be easier to create a new user name-- hot-not2 lol.

I appreciate what ever you can do to help. It is too many pics to wade through and I hate to delete them all--not to mention what a pain deleting that many pics would be.
