Going thorugh my closet and getting rid of two bags of clothes that make me look like I'm 30 years older than I should be and never wore. (WHY do my mom's friends give me their old work clothes thinking I will like/wear them? It's a sweet thought, but I keep maybe one thing out of twenty) It gives me great joy to be able to upcycle them at the Goodwill down the street. YEAH! :D

Sitting in a living room with several leather people having a discussion on Liberation Theology. Brilliance. I was pleasantly surprised at an informed discussion. It has been way too long since I got to have a discussion with someone who even knew what Liberation Theology is let alone know specifics. :cheer:

Spending the morning drinking coffee and chatting with friends.

Today is my last day off until the next term starts. I am excited that I am making progress towards my degree. Pretty much already know what I am doing once I graduate. Have 3-4 terms left. Yay!

Arwen 01-03-2010 07:22 PM

  • Hearing that a dear friend may be in town in a few weeks.
  • Really good feedback on my forgiveness project
  • Talking to my beloved little brother today
  • Remembering exactly why I set boundaries as firmly as I did
  • Opportunity to hang out with someone on Tuesday
  • Avatar at the Imax theater:dance2:

[QUOTE=amiyesiam;29839]I got my vacation requests back last night at work.
I knew I took a day off just about every week the first 3 months of the year so I would not have to drive so much this winter.
But apparently, in July, when I put the requests in, I decided to take 5 days off in Feb, which means 9 days off in the dead of winter. I am so EXCITED
I also got super bowl weekend off!!!!!!
What brings me joy is 9 days off in less than a month!!!
we will not focus on the fact that I don't remember doing this

Arwen 01-05-2010 11:29 AM

  • Petting a puggle
  • Putting out Cheerios for the squirrel
  • A good start towards my new laptop
  • Going back to see Avatar with friends
  • A clean kitchen and living room
  • Hanging with a friend this afternoon
  • Austin living!

My kitty that i have had for over 10 years who disappeared a month ago and came back yesterday. She is only 6 pounds and very dehydrated but she is eating and resting comfortably. If nothing else good happens this year, at least she is home and safe now....I missed her horribly and I think she will make it.....what a miracle

Gemme 01-05-2010 02:39 PM

* an upcoming check with OT
* a free movie ticket
* an evening off (if I can stay awake)
* not having to get up at the buttcrack of dawn tomorrow
* bossing folks around today and having them actually DO what I tell them to

1) Setting up a grocery delivery for tomorrow evening. I can't wait to have groceries that may last me longer than a few days! (It's really hard to shop for deals and get heavier and bulky items home when you have to take the bus and walk a few blocks). I will be saving $ and be healthier in the long run because I will be bringing my breakfast and lunch to work instead of buying from Starbucks or the little deli in our building.

2) Helping mom plan a party for my Grammy's 90th birthday next month.

3) Being able to focus and concentrate this morning because my talkative co-worker is out of the office in meetings all day. :)

I found joy today:

  • In a smoothie
  • Watching a neighbor's cat greet anyone and everyone
  • In knowing that I am well loved
  • In knowing that I am not repeating past mistakes (I'm making NEW ones, lol)

Gemme 01-18-2010 06:32 PM

This weekend and today I have found joy in these things:

* shredding half a big bag full of paper :crap:
* beginning work on not one, but TWO craft projects
* using reusable bags at the store instead of taking more plastic ones
* taking time for myself
* laughing with my boo
* arguing with my boo (What? It's an Italian thing, I guess.)
* the number on the scale coming in at under 150 (just barely, but it counts, by George!)

* doing some organization in my sleeping space
* plugging one of those Airwicky things in so my bedroom smells like a tropical paradise

* sleeping with my favorite furbuddy when her mom wasn't there
* shopping and finding all kinds of goodies on sale
* catching up on some sleep
* looking at nude pics and not hating the girl (actually I felt kinda bad that she felt that the only way to get ahead in the modeling world was to post these photos on her webpage) or more importantly, not hating myself and breaking down all the things about me that aren't great/lovely/perfect/etc. I just looked. No criticism for her or myself. This is a major improvement, I believe.

Passionately discussing things would be a better description, I think, or giving each other gruff about stuff. Actual arguing sucks big hair greasy donkey balls.

Today, a guest came in that I had spent a LOT of time with on the phone while making her reservation and she:

1. remembered me
2. still liked me (that changes between reservation and check in sometimes)
3. said THANK YOU! (people do NOT do this often enough)
4. loves NCIS as much as I do

I'm very glad that she will be here for several days. I'm going to need her good energy and positive juju to deal with a notoriously difficult complainer tonight and the next couple of nights too.

:ohm:
