I saw this on Sunday
I was not aware that it was a religious movie but they didn't throw it in the audience's face too much. It was tolerable and cute. I saw this movie as well I absolutely love Adam and Drew, so this was true fun for me. Formulaic, sure. But still funny and still thoroughly enjoyable. |
I watched The Fault in Our Stars
My work family rented it and I have oodles of down time... Wasn't really surprising; I grasped the premise from the previews. Sometimes my brain craves things that are meant for younger audiences. This reminded me of Perks of Being a Wallflower which I loved... |
Heaven is For Real
This one could have gone sideways and gotten preachy preachy but it didn't feel that way to me. They did a good job with it. Trust Me It was listed as a comedy. I would say dramody is a better listing. I picked it expecting funny bits but they were far and few. I liked the lead character and a couple supporting characters but I felt a bit hoodwinked that I didn't get the movie it was portrayed as in the listing. Overall, it was okay, but don't pick it if you want an actual comedy. They Came Together Do. Not. Watch. This. Movie. It's so bad, I wanted to cry because it has some really good actors in it. I'm going to hit the theatre tomorrow and see The Judge. I'm so excited! Great story. Great actors. Did I mention that I'm excited to see this? |
While I was in London, a group went to see Pride. I didn't think it was showing in the States, but saw some Facebook friends had seen it as well. Good movie!

Gone Girl
With his wife's disappearance having become the focus of an intense media circus, a man sees the spotlight turned on him when it's suspected that he may not be innocent. Director: David Fincher Writers: Gillian Flynn (screenplay), Gillian Flynn (novel) Stars: Ben Affleck, Rosamund Pike, Neil Patrick Harris Read the book and I thought it was terrific and I also thought the movie was very well done. |
The Best Offer.....
The film tells a story of love and deceit,in the world of high-end art auctions and antiques. The story revolves around Virgil Oldman (Geoffrey Rush), an elderly and esteemed, but somewhat eccentric, managing director of an auction house. Oldman is hired by a reclusive young heiress, Claire Ibbetson (Sylvia Hoeks), to auction off the large collection of art and antiques left to her by her parents. For some reason, Claire always refuses to be seen in person.
I figured out this movie in about 2 seconds but I'd suggest giving it a try. It does move slow just to be forewarned! |
A million ways to Die in the West..
It was a little annoying at first but it got much better....
|
I've gotta soft spot for Tilda....
And at the theater.... |
Million Dollar Arm
Super good story. Well done. Dig it. See it. Worth your time. |
So, so, soooooooo good. A must see! Today! Go now. and Also, very good. and I saw this this morning with breakfast. Interesting note: Billy Bob Thornton was in 2 out of these 3 movies. |
Whitey Bolger
United States of America v James J Bolger
I like any movies or books about the Mafia or Underworld, but I have to say I was a bit disappointed that they didn't have more interviews with Bolger himself. Otherwise I would say check it out :movieguy: |
Starred Up (2013)
A troubled and explosively violent teenager is transferred to adult prison where he finally meets his match - a man who also happens to be his father. Director: David Mackenzie Writer: Jonathan Asser Stars: Jack O'Connell, Ben Mendelsohn, Rupert Friend http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2567712/ Very intense but extremely well done. |
I thoroughly enjoyed them all!
I saw these two today.
I saw this yesterday. I am developing a sincere interest in Shailene Woodley. She's phenomenal. I can't wait for the rest of the Divergent series as well as White Bird in a Blizzard. |
I saw this one today and really liked it.
I saw these yesterday: This one was good too. This one was bizarre but the ending was interesting. Pretty gruesome but I did like it. |
Fury
October 17, 2014 (USA) April, 1945. As the Allies make their final push in the European Theatre, a battle-hardened army sergeant named Wardaddy commands a Sherman tank and her five-man crew on a deadly mission behind enemy lines. Out-numbered, out-gunned, and with a rookie soldier thrust into their platoon, Wardaddy and his men face overwhelming odds in their heroic attempts to strike at the heart of Nazi Germany. Director: David Ayer Writer: David Ayer Stars: Brad Pitt, Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2713180/ We really liked this movie. Excellent WWII movie. Brad Pitt has turned into a really fine actor. |
Went to go see the new Nicholas Sparks movie "The Best of Me". Good grief. It was great, however, I had wished it would of lingered a bit more on the more emotional/passionate parts. Overall, it was a great movie though, bring tissues, its a must have.

Recently saw Welcome to New York starring Gerard Depardieu and directed by Abel Ferrara. Though there's a pointed disclaimer at the start of the film, it's about the troubles of former IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn who comes across as a despicable pig.
It was almost obscene, most certainly vulgar and violent, but none the less fascinating. It's the best work I've seen by Depardieu in years (!) and I will most likely watch this again. Here's a review of the film by Scott Foundas at Variety |
Thor , the dark side.

I saw this on Monday.
Excellent! I *heart* Denzel and liked how they portrayed his internal struggle. The Sia and Eminem song at closing credits is good too. I did not like how much the trailer shows. I feel you can show enough in 90 seconds or less to pique someone's interest without showing half the movie. I saw this on Sunday. Love! |
Hunted: The War on Gays in Russia.
Documentary on HBO. Scary shit. Institutionalized homophobia. Violent attacks on gays have increased tremendously. Roving packs of vigilantes hunt gays, attack and film the attacks. They then post them online. Russia passed a law last summer that a all positive and neutral references to non-traditional relationships is illegal. The Russian parliament passed it unanimously. One vigilante said it all: Russia is hell for homosexuals. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/1...n_5930100.html |
