I have to agree. I lost 30 lbs doing the Wii Fit, Biggest Loser, and Gold's Gym Zumba, all for the Wii. Then, like you, I let myself slack off and gain weight back. I'm finally back at it, doing the Wii and going to the gym. I'm already another 10lbs back down, plus making some healthier choices related to meals.

Well hello Ranger :)

Hey the Wii Fit is great... and a lot of people use it when they are stuck indoors! Some of those routines will kick your workout into high gear ~ like the Biggest Loser one! Hey, anything that gets your body moving is a plus! On those days I don't feel like exercising, I grab my iPod, crank my music and start dancing in my living room!

No matter what program you are using, you will find lots of helpful advice, words of encouragement, receipes, workout tips AND LOTS of support! We are glad you are here!

GOOD LUCK getting your journey going again!

What was also tough is when I go to Burning Man. I'm there for two weeks and all I want to do is eat bacon and drink (except when I'm on duty of course), but I ride my bicycle and walk a lot too.

I hated feeling sluggish shortly after I quit eating right and working out, but slowly I have been feeling a bit better and more energetic too.

Ugh, don't you just hate it when you let yourself slack off! Well, luckily each & every day is a fresh start :) GOOD FOR YOU for making healthier choices & getting your fitness routine going again!

I tip my hat to you and Ranger I can't exercise at home. I need to go to a gym. Otherwise I will never do it. I do not have the self discipline that you two have. :cheerleader:

I can't really say a whole lot about the bacon, since I have factored bacon into my new diet...lol

I wish I did have better will power. If so I'd probably be a lot slimmer and healthier by now...lol I am trying though. It helps that both of my parents are on a get-healthy kick now, so we try to motivate one another. :)

Well, last night I bit the bullet and started trying on clothes for the Reunion in two weeks. I was pretty bummed 2 weeks ago, when I bought a killer corset off eBay, only to find out the damn thing didn't fit. Anyway, I tried it on again, and although it doesn't fit the way I want it to... I could actually wear the damn thing! I got excited and started pulling out old clothes that I haven't been able to wear, and smiled as each & every piece actually fit!

So, although my original plan didn't work out, I now have a lot more options of clothes to wear from my own closet :) Hey, the scale might not be showing big losses right now... but if my clothes are getting baggier, than I'm a happy girl!

As for now, I'm just watching what I eat and trying my best to get in exercise whenever I can. I really wanted to start trying to exercise first thing in the morning... but the snooze button has been my longtime friend ;)

I think that is super fabulous!! :cheer: I love when I go into my closet and those "tight" clothes fit, and can even be baggy!!

I am happy for you. You provide wonderful suppport, and have been my cheerleader more than once. I am truly delighted for you!! :happyjump:

Since ive been dealing with this sinus infection I have had zero energy, but am on some meds and finaly today I got my antibiotics ive been wainting for for the last two days...the one the doc gave me was a bad reactor with my advair so I needed somethig else. The bigest plus is my blood sugar is down to 105 for the last couple of days its been 190 and 150 in the mornings.I havent slept much in a fue days and wasnt eating right but not doing a lot of wrong stuff either, now im back on the diet to the numbers and do plan to not change things.Being sick and stressed cant pick up the numbers ive been told.
Yesterday I did manage to go out and get a bit of exersise shooting basket ball hoops for 20 minits..I pushed it a bit longer than I had wind to use but when I get this crap it usely ends up in my chest so I thought some moveing around would help..it did...but I was pooped afterwards
Im glad to see how many of u are doing so well, keepup the good work folks..I get more ideas everytime I read some of the post.

Yeah, it really does help when other members in the household are all focused on the same goal. My willpower can be easily persuaded when people around me are eating bad... only difference is, they don't have a problem, I DO!

Even though D says she wants to lose weight, she isn't focused on any plan. Luckily, she has me to help at least make healthy modifications to our dinners or meals we have together... so in fact she is losing without even thinking about it. Well, if she can stay away from eating mexican food 4 days a week ;)

First workout in a week. I got super sick after my last ShaBAM! class, thank goodness it wasn't the class but a intestinal virus that is still kicking my butt. I wish I could say my trainer went easy on me but for the most part she didn't. We stayed away from core exercises and worked on upper body. Tonight I am going to try and hit one of the cardio classes and see how I feel. I am not sure if my *guts* can handle it but I will go and give it my best.

Congrat's to everyone of you for keeping moving forward and taking control of your health one step at a time...

awwww THANK YOU so much for your kind words... you've made my day! Yes, the baggy clothes are a lil' more motivation & proof that I am making positive changes in the right direction... even if I do throw the scale across the room for not being on my side all the time ;)

Having y'all to keep me in check, to share this journey with, has made the world of difference for me. I NEED folks to keep me motivated... and helping others stay motivated holds myself accountable for what I'm doing, too. I know I have a long way to go... but together we can do it!

Being sick sure can put a damper on not only our moods but our motivation. Hell, when I don't feel good I don't want to get out of bed.... let alone workout or cook a healthy meal. I'm glad that you are starting to feel better and are able to get some fresh air in those lungs.

Don't beat yourself up my friend... you are doing great! Hey, your blood sugar numbers are already getting better :)

ShaBAM! class... oh my god, that sounds like a workout in itself! What is it like?! I'm sorry that some virus made you so sick... but hopefully you will be back up to 100% before you know it! They have so many great cardio classes at my gym... I've always just been a lil' intimated to join in. Those Zumba women are freakin' off the hook ;)

Good luck tonight!!!

I am not even going to tell you all what WE have been eating--Though I think it would be super funny to list things that E has eaten while implying that I have been LittleMissDietQueen.

Still, each day I begin with my coffee and total cereal, cottage cheese and fruit.

*There's been a lot of upheaval in our lives recently, including a new job for me and leaving one where I love the people like whoa--So I am trying to be kind to myself, I cannot go to a negative space--There's literally no time.

This weekend, I did do better shopping so we were set up to have the things we needed in the house, actual vegetables and lunch foods. Onward, and all that.

*Also, I have maintained that 10 lb loss that I did over the course of the last 3 months which is what I love about WW--Even if I veer off of plan, I still don't gain back every single lost pound (just 2). Love that!

<3

They are! My Zumba's are over. I was very intimidated when I first went. It was an outdoor, parking lot, money raising event. I went into the middle of the crowd until I learned *what the heck* that was like the third class. Then it was over in two more weeks.

ShaBam! :| I wonder if that has a copyright? I'd like to make some deco flash dance like T shirts and sell them to some crazy exersize class. Leg warmers too, why not. Love that name ShaBam!! maybe I'll change my screen name. Obsessing about it now. Thanks Kim. Glad to hear you are doing better.

justkim 09-28-2011 02:55 PM

I belong to Gold's Gym and love the classes they have to offer... ShaBam is like Zumba but not with the Latin flare which to me is what I love about Zumba. Another class I take is the cardio sculpt... love that one too! Check in your local area to see what classes are available...

Keep up the good work everyone!

I am assuming what helps with sleep is the melatonin. If it doesn't help as much as you need, you can always get a bottle of the supplement at a pharmacy, vitamin shop, or probably even grocery store. Look for one that is extended release, so that it will keep you sleeping the whole night through.

One thing I am taking for sleep is called Tart Cherry. It is a concentrate and you take a tablespoon or two a night. It also has melatonin in it.

I've been taking the supplements for a few days now and I do have to admit that I appear to be getting to sleep faster. I still wake up in the middle of the night and when Ebon changes pitch/volume/etc but it's more like 2-3 times now versus 6 or more before.

So, thankfully, it does seem to be making a difference. Maybe when my supply runs out, I'll look into melatonin supplements.

Gemme!! Thank you for being kind and sharing a healing thought with me. I did try New Skin and it did help the split. I was grateful. The pharmacist recommended that to me. However, the skin on my heel continues to flake, peel and crack. When the skin does grow back over, it is like a bubble. Not solidly connected to the skin underneath it (if that makes sense). The doc asked me NOT to treat it for the next two weeks until I see him again. I am not looking forward to that at all. It hurts.

I seriously thought I would be able to go in to see him. He would go "oh you have ____" and voila magic cream and I would skip (kinda) to my car all happy and stuff. Yeah No.

I did not go to the gym last night. I was very grateful I did not. I had a patient at 7 and standing on my foot for 1.5 hours while I worked on her, hurt like the dickens. I can only imagine if I had gone to the gym and irritated it more.

I will officially stop whining as of....NOW

So, it kind of makes a fluid-less blister? Interesting. I had a toenail do that a few times. My pinkie toenail got ripped off a couple of times (won't go into those stories) and when it grew back, there was a pocket of air in between the bed and the nail, which eventually led to that nail falling off, but there was a whole new nail underneath then. Weird, I admit.

I have a 7 day free membership to Snap Fitness so I think I will take advantage of that starting Friday or Saturday. Then I may just go with Planet Fitness Black Card Membership. I get one free day to check it out then $5.00 starts it all and $20 month gets me unlimited guest passes, tanning, massage chairs, and access to all PF locations in the U.S. No commitments.

Check again to be sure. Ebon and I got that member with PF and there's a one year contract with that one, unless they've changed the parameters recently. The white membership for $10/mo has no commitment but you can only go to the one location that you sign up at and don't get the tanning and massage chair bennies.

Having said that, we do enjoy the gym. It's low key and no pressure mentality were just what we needed when we signed up. It still is; we just haven't been in four forevers.

Hi Gemme. I am an uncured insomniac. We sort of talked about this in another thread (sleep study) I also suffer from
migraines. They always look at sleep when you have migraines. I had listed on my patient info sheet for the current Neurologist I am seeing....melatonin supplements.
The neurologist said to me* Sleep makes melatonin, melatonin does not make sleep, nor does it put you into a better head space or increase your sex drive. Throw it away.*

Not trusting her 3 walls that were covered with degrees and
medical certifications, I came home and looked that piece of information up on the internet....OMG:| She was telling me the truth. I bet I read that in the check out line of a grocery store while being sleep deprived (melatonin will let you sleep, buy some!!)

I know some who can't sleep without melatonin--Whether it's causing sleepiness, or just part of their nightly routine, I don't know. :)

Not losing but not gaining. Fiber has calories so I have to eat less to account for that!

I did, however, get on the floor this morning to do exercises I have not done in years. I used to do 75 sit-ups a night and thought I would be lucky to do 5 but easily did 25. Went ahead and did the rest of all the back exercises I used to do.

Hugs all,
