Gemme 12-01-2019 06:13 PM

I brought a cabinet into the house and moved stuff around in the garage to make room for the car since there's snow tonight. My baby is safe and sound and was only moderately snowy when I put her in the garage. I worked and have done my house chores for now so I'm watching my back episodes of The Rookie.

GeorgiaMa'am 12-01-2019 07:10 PM

I managed to wash my hair this evening. That's the only really useful thing I did today. Even so, I was too tired to blow it out, so I'll have to flat iron it in the morning.

charley 12-01-2019 07:55 PM

the end of the Black Friday sale

all done, yeah me!

I must say that the Ninja Foodi Pressure Cooker with Tendercrisp was kinda heavy! It will replace my Crock Pot, and I will be able to BBQ a chicken in it! What fun!

Will have the rest of the week to open boxes, get the other stuff packed and ready to donate, and make new space on my counter, and elsewhere.

Also, treated myself to a Greek feast platter to celebrate - absolutely delicious. I always celebrate spending money and buying things by going out and feasting.

GeorgiaMa'am 12-08-2019 06:38 PM

I got _all_ my Christmas shopping done! Yay!

RockOn 12-08-2019 10:04 PM

GeorgiaMa'am, that is an enormous accomplishment!

Lots! Kept 2 burn barrels going. I am cutting logs into thin slices. Also, dumped some used motor oil on a stump ... I was working this stump in April 2018 ... then my back went out (several ruptured discs) ... so I had to quit. I am doing great now. No surgery. Pain is not worth mentioning anymore. I can do anything I want but I am super careful about lifting heavy objects. I make sure I make my core is rock hard before the lift. Magic!! LOL! Actually lots more core building P.T. at home regularly has helped a lot.

By tomorrow evening, I expect that stump will be ready to cover with dirt and forget! YAY! :) I only have two more in the backyard to get rid of ... all the ones in the woods can rot. Stumps are a burden. The work is too hard if you don't have a stump grinder.

Happy tonight! Much progress this weekend!
:)

I got my craft project finished and mailed, picked up some food at the vet's, picked up a package at the office, got my first holiday card of the season in the mail and I may still have a couple house chores to do before I crash.

Kätzchen 12-14-2019 09:20 PM

I went shopping: bought a few groceries, bought a couple of silk scarves and a beautiful pair of earrings; and then I stopped to get a manicure/pedicure at the spa. I decided to just go with a natural manicure, instead of doing the gel overlays on my real nails. My nails feel better now, thank heavens.

Oh, and I bought a beautiful ring for myself today too. It's handmade, and it's Italian enameled artwork (in Ivory or Aqua) depicting a turtle swimming among the coral reef (it has crystals, too, it's very sparkly and pretty). It is a Sterling Silver ring. I got it for my middle finger on my left hand. I had to get it sized to fit, though. It should be back by NYE.

Here's what the proceeds from Sea Turtle Ring goes toward: "At Belle Étoile, we are constantly inspired by the beauty of nature and we are committed to helping protect this beauty for generations to come. Through the sale of the Sea Turtle Collection, Belle Étoile is supporting the work of the Sea Turtle Conservancy, helping sea turtles all over the world. Thank you for your support." Here is what it looks like: Belle Etoile Jewelry

And...., I had my therapy visit today, somewhere in between all that shopping. I'm so glad my therapist can see me on Saturday's now.

Yesterday I worked the Santa Crew and later I went to Town Square to watch, How The Grinch Stole Christmas, under the stars !

I'm making my own Holiday happiness, no matter what!

Good for you! Me too!

Quite a few years ago, I realized that my family was not ever going to create the kind of MGM-Hollywood Christmas I wanted. So I started my own traditions, and some of them have lasted* and some have not**. But I have plenty of Christmasy-ness - and my family of choice - to spend them with now. Today, for example, I am hanging up Christmas cards and wrapping gifts with elaborate trimmings (no bags here - unless of course someone doesn't deserve extra fancy wrapping).

(*Examples of traditions that have lasted: baking cookies; giving randomly to some person who needs it; giving to charities; sending Holiday cards.

** Examples of traditions that have not lasted (and good riddance!): baking a huge, multi-course traditional meal for my biological family who will plow through the whole thing in 20 minutes and not appreciate it; and giving everyone in my biological family "extra", funny white elephant gifts, trying to jolly them into the Spirit of Christmas.

A three hour nap! Boy, doing nothing really wore me out!

Now IF only I was having some company to appreciate it.......:giggle:

JDeere 01-04-2020 06:06 PM

Ummmm ive only done 2 things on my list so the rest to go.

GeorgiaMa'am 01-04-2020 06:29 PM

I gave a friend some really hard news that I've been avoiding for three months. He actually took it pretty well - but we'll see how he holds up after the news sinks in. He's the nervous sort.

Bèsame* 01-04-2020 09:33 PM

today 2 loaves of zucchini bread were made, pretty tasty

LOL not much
I cleaned off the top of the dead microwave

I finished mowing the yard

I am about to fold laundry and finish another load.

I've been awake since 4 a.m. so you can see I haven't done much today

Gemme 06-28-2020 06:57 PM

Other than charging my phone, washing my hair, making some burgers and finishing season 2 of The Order, not a damn thing. Days off rock.

Orema 07-08-2020 07:42 PM

– finished my income tax return
– finished purging the filing cabinet
– started the car since I haven’t driven in a week or so
– bought a black & white laser printer, I am over color printers

FireSignFemme 07-09-2020 09:30 PM

Nervously watched the high wind and rain whip around the tree canopy a few yards from my windows — the squirrel nest hung in there!

Looked online for bird boxes and read about them — the kind you put out in the winter not for nesting but for roosting in cold weather.

A bunch of birds at one time, even different species, will sit on the little ladder inside.

The entrance hole is at the bottom of the front panel, so their body heat will rise and stay inside.

In the spring, you switch the front panel so the hole is at the top, letting the hot air out, and they use it for nesting. When I order one, I'll affix it somehow to the wall of the balcony.

Everything else I did today pales next to my self-tutorial on bird boxes and storm watching.

C0LLETTE 07-11-2020 06:11 PM

When I post a one line response " about what I accomplished today " I'm not being falsely modest . There are so many days when I accomplish nothing or next to. And I've no intention of apologizing for it.

Hi, Someone asked me for the link to my research. It was just Amazon. If you search for "bird roost box," all this stuff will come up and you can web-hop around the different makers. Good luck bird lovers! Ginger

kittygrrl 07-12-2020 10:57 AM

nothing so far...making pancakes to oldie but goodie

Gemme 07-12-2020 11:21 AM

I rolled out of bed--eventually after 2 false starts--and took care of the fur babies. Then I made myself some food and perused stuff online. I also played some Spider Solitaire and was mostly successful in finishing each game under 4 minutes, which is my personal marker as to whether it was 'successful' or not. I weighed myself and put my hair up in a ponytail.

Currently, I'm working through my email notifications here and am contemplating having dessert after brunch. Eventually, I'll make my way to actual work and house chores but for the time being, I'm happy doing a whole lot of not much.

Orema 07-19-2020 04:18 AM

Accomplished last week ....

Finished purging-reorganizing my office. It looks nice and feels even better. The only thing left to do is remove the clothes rack for the closet she was going to extend when I was partnered.

Got the carbon monoxide detector hooked up.

Unpacked all my boxes from work.

Gemme 07-19-2020 03:06 PM

Not a darn thing, other than getting a boatload of sleep. I woke a little after 8 and decided to go back to bed. Big mistake. I woke with my neck, upper back and shoulder blade area out of whack so now I can't do much of anything without it hurting.

Bèsame* 07-19-2020 03:32 PM

After today I can say I accomplished 22 days of continuous work. Whew. I survived. Actually, I'm impressed with that. So many steps. I also noticed some guns abuilding in my arms!

I think mind over matter today got to me though. My eyes were so heavy. Decisions...carry on with the list of things I have to do or take a nap??

Iced coffee. That will do it everytime. Accomplished 4 out of the 7 on my list. Tomorrow is another day. Besides those last 3 things will be quite enjoyable.

I'm sure saving the $$ though. A change in venue is in the works. I'm going to vacation land to live. Noooo, not Margaritaville, lol.

FireSignFemme 07-19-2020 04:16 PM

Fixed computer, phone, internet! I did need my son's help via text but it's getting better. I'm now familiar enough with all its parts and pieces/various components that he didn't need to come over and do it for me, or even come over and via show and tell guide me through it. Sometimes it ticks me off him making me learn this stuff through trial and error but he's right I do need to learn to troubleshoot better, so I can then practice, practice, practice.

RockOn 07-19-2020 05:38 PM

slept in until 6:30, fed pups, filled their water bowls with lots of ice and let them play outside while I watched youtube baby monkey videos (their videos make me laugh a lot - they are so cute) ... then I mowed lawns, pulled up a huge bush roots and all with tow strap tied to truck, used chainsaw to cut a 40 ft log into 3 ft pieces (burn it later) the pups were sleeping in the shade watching me work ... we came in, I had to cool off... that is when I discovered my new 2 week old 15k btu window a.c. for the bedroom was not putting out the normal 65 degrees. I think it foolish to run the central a.c. and cool the whole house that cold. Anyway, I was irritably hot, ended up with skin torn off 3 knuckles when I gave it a good smack ... this caused it to almost fall out the window ... I was inside when I hit it and was fortunate to catch it .... very heavy, brought on a lot of swearing, grunting and farting to pull it back to safety.... it is fine now, freezing us like usual, Jennifer and Jeffrey are covered up with a blanket ... it was just a funky setting I was unaware of ... they hid that info from me in the owner's manual ... duhhh

GeorgiaMa'am 07-20-2020 05:59 PM

After work, I made appointments with the doctor and with the DMV. Seems everyone requires an appointment these days . . .

Kenna 07-20-2020 08:38 PM

A lot. But I'm too tired to list it all.
Main thing was driving my roomie to the Dr for his follow up.
2nd thing was to find a Publix to buy goat milk yogurt for my old furbaby.
After letting my Tundra idle at each location I needed to stop at, it needed a special cool down under the shade with the hood up for a while.

But with an appointment, it will probably be the fastest you'll ever be in the DMV.

As for myself, I've accomplished barely anything at all other than cooking up 4 delicious burgers and washing some dishes. I made myself house presentable as well. Nothing as fancy as public presentable but good enough to walk in front of the open window blinds.

Blade 07-26-2020 09:02 PM

Cleared out space around my recumbent bike with some help. And cleaned out a box 😆 and I took a shower, that is a major project with my healing knee. I put together a sprayer and filled it up for use. That's about it. I really didn't do much but it felt good to feel like doing something

easygoingfemme 07-27-2020 04:39 AM

Yesterday's accomplishments:

Made really good omelettes with broccoli from our garden in them.
Harvested a bunch of our greens that were on their second round so I pulled them and re-seeded for the next round.
Built up a fence to go around our beans and cantaloupe because a groundhog discovered them and went to town.
Cooked ahead for the week: Baked haddock, chicken covered in rosemary and thyme from the garden, veggie loaded quiche, and shrimp curry.
Took out the trash.

Today is going to be over 90 degrees and I work in a swamp so I'm glad I got all of that done yesterday because today will be about staying upright until I don't have to anymore.

Gemme 07-28-2020 10:04 PM

I accomplished not getting any kind of heat sickness, which is great. I'm very happy with that accomplishment today.

Bèsame* 07-30-2020 04:19 PM

With all this handwashing and sanitizing, my nails are definitely taking a beating! Brittle. Peeling. I've tried nail hardeners, that starts to peel off within 36 hours. Short, filed..nope still peeling.

Today I got my manicuring skills out. It's been about 20 years since I dabbled in acrylics. Well, let's just say left hand, very well executed! The right hand, I'll have to hone in on more practice. Lol. Let's see if this is the solution I need.

Psst...the polish makes them look much better.

Kätzchen 08-09-2020 01:33 PM

* Slept in and had a lazy late morning breakfast and yummy cup of herbal tea.

* Trimmed and colored my hair.

* Later on today, catch up on some household chores, wash and dry some laundry, maybe go for a late afternoon drive.

* Mostly, I have taken good care of me. Best plan ever, if you ask me.

Gayandgray 08-09-2020 04:14 PM

Got the grass cut and all weed wacking done, cooked chicken & dumplings for dinner, bathed 3 of the 4 dogs, now watching 90 day fiancé, I’m ashamed to say I’m ADDICTED to this show!

GeorgiaMa'am 08-09-2020 06:38 PM

Changed the cat litter, called my sister and my mom, watched baseball. It was a very laid-back day.

Kätzchen 08-17-2020 09:16 PM

I worked today: it was a long day, but the weather was beautiful, even though it was terribly warm.

And that is an accomplishment, being able to work and spend the better part of my day at work.

My work is like my home. It's my home away from home.

Just today, I saw someone I haven't seen since last February or was it in mid March? Mask or no mask couldn't disguise the joy in our voices or in the laughter we shared.
