Yep, it was a shit ton of snow and I shoveled it. I shoveled the shit out of the shit ton of snow.

Say that fast five times.

easygoingfemme 03-16-2018 05:47 AM

I have a bunch of over time at work so I'm going in late so I can take a spin class this morning :):fastcycling:

Gemme 03-16-2018 07:46 PM

More shoveling and ice scraping, but I think that's it until the next storm on Wednesday.

I have not exercised for about a month. It really took a lot out of me being sick. I tried going without an antibiotic only to finally go to my ENT who told me I had a raging sinus infection. A few days on the antibiotic and it was so much better under control. Along with that, work has been stressful.

Today at the gym felt great. I did one hour on the treadmill, about 3 mph, and then half an hour of weight lifting and stretching.

It was a quiet weekend and I caught up on sleep.

Oh, and I'm watching "Wild, wild Country" a doc show on a cult- on Netflix.

candy_coated_bitch 03-18-2018 05:02 PM

I carried groceries upstairs lol

Gemme 03-18-2018 06:36 PM

OMG, J! That sucks. I'm so glad that your doc figured out what it was and you are on the mend now.

I'm also glad you posted because I'm too lazy to look for the thread.

I worked out this morning and had my own personal adventure. I woke late and got to the gym around 8:45. They have one girl who is a normal, average girl in size and weight. She's much friendlier than the others

There were these two ladies who I've seen before. One's there to work out and does her thing and the other is there for conversation and girl time. She's typical NE woman. Late 80s/early 90s hair, sun fried skin, too much jewelry for the gym, wrong clothes for the gym (in this case, she wears bras with a light cami over it) and she doesn't understand personal space or what 'inside voice' means.

I wound up next to the yappy one, trying to practice my ability to tune her out. I knew they'd leave before I finished but they didn't do that until I was nearly finished so it was what it was. I did pretty good though.

Stats: 281 cal, 1.94 mi, 30:00 min

Honestly, I don't feel that I burned more than 200 calories so that elliptical was obviously in need of a calibration. It was okay though. I needed it. My neck and back and all my vertebrae have been getting squinchy lately and my body workload is out of whack due to the snow and shoveling. Even though I try and remember to switch up what side I shovel to/with, I tend to always revert back to my dominant side.

easygoingfemme 03-19-2018 06:02 AM

None yet today but yesterday was all about swing dancing! So fun and a great way to work out.

Tonight will be spin class.

Hello all! Is there anyone here that has had any experience with those “balance board” things that your supposed to twist on? I saw them on Shark Tank and they are selling them in my local Walmart for $45. But I also saw knock offs at Ollie’s for $20. I read reviews online and they say it really works once you practice a bit and get the hang of balancing. This is the thing: I’m big and fat and I’m wondering if I will fall off and hurt myself???!!! We don’t have carpet in our house so if I hit the hard, laminate floor it’s gonna hurt like hell. The reviews say if you don’t have carpet the board will slide all over so they say to put a piece of carpet under it. I don’t want to waste my money but yet I thought it would be an easy exercise I can do. Our house is small so I don’t have room for a treadmill or exercise bike.

cricket26 03-20-2018 06:35 PM

1 hour on the treadmill- 3 miles-7000+ steps-300+ calories

More importantly, it will ruin your floors if you don't put a carpet pad under it. It's plastic and will dig into your flooring and scar it as you twist it into the floor.

I've seen those too and wanted to try it but can't afford to ruin the carpet with pilling or a worn spot or scar the tiling. If you get it, let us know how it went!

Loaded and unloaded a ceiling fan and some fantastic wood I scavenged.

The ceiling fan is just for a few specific parts. I will throw away the rest. It is truely so ugly and would not have it even if boxed and brand new. LOL! It is the four high wattage ceramic sockets and wires I am interested in - fun creators for sure!! :)

The wood is a pallet that has unusual mighty fine pieces. I will disassemble it soon. It is so pristeen, no sanding will be necessary. Yay! I have grown to hate sanding!

Gayandgray 03-21-2018 05:01 PM

My sister says she found an exercise bike online that folds up. It’s a Marcy Upright and it actually looks like a really old school one I had years ago. I’m thinking it might fit in a corner of the spare room.....

easygoingfemme 03-21-2018 07:37 PM

I ran my ass off all day at work and enough people annoyed me that I came home and rowed a 5k to burn it off. That will be all.

Gayandgray 03-22-2018 08:54 AM

I shoveled snow this morning.

I didn't!

Holy crap, it didn't snow.

For once.

I'm so tired of getting walloped.

All I did today was walk a bit. Lazy day.

Gemme 03-25-2018 11:28 AM

Got the gym yesterday!

Elliptical: 294 cal, 2.34 cal, 30 min

I followed that up with a good stretch and then I went down the plaza to the Marshall's as they had a promotional event. I wound up winning a gift card, so that was time well spent!

Today, no gym but I'll be doing house chores and work all day so I'll be getting in plenty of intentional movement.

cricket26 03-25-2018 01:39 PM

walked up and down the stairs for 20 minutes then outside to help with the yard work (its 80 degrees here)

nycfem 03-25-2018 05:50 PM

Like Mrs. Butterworth, I took my own sweet time leaving home today for the gym. I ended up there around 5pm. I did 45 minutes on the treadmill at 3 mph and then 15 minutes of ab exercises on the floor and stretching. I watched "Wild, wild Country" - a great documentary netflix series about a cult. Sometimes I feel like I'm in a cult at the gym. The stretching feels so good that I feel almost hypnotized or mesmerized or something other worldly.

Gemme 03-26-2018 02:33 PM

I have to be careful when I stretch because I can start to drift off.

....zzzzzzzzzzz....

I trudged to the gym this morning and got in a pretty decent workout. I didn't push myself too hard because I knew I had chores waiting for me at home too.

Elliptical: 275 cal, 1.78 mi, 30:00 min

I went to stretch and the back area was packed full of peeps so I took my mat and went into the 30 minute weight training area and had a nice, quiet stretch session.

easygoingfemme 03-28-2018 07:22 AM

I had a very chilly but fun first outside bike ride of the year yesterday after work. I didn't get to go as far as I'd hoped because it turned out that the bike path I chose was under construction and I was blocked halfway through my planned ride by a huge fence so no one could enter the construction zone. I thought about going back to the trail head and doing the route again but the entire ride back was heavy head winds and rain was starting and the temps were going down to about 35. I decided a hot shower was what I really needed after that.

I'm registering for a 220 mile fundraising bike ride for young breast cancer survivors. Good motivation for me to be out there in all weather to train!

Medusa 03-28-2018 07:46 AM

I've been busting my ass the last few days with my Fitbit steps. I'm 4500 steps into my 10k goal for today and hoping I can have another 16k like yesterday.

Muscles are hurting all over the place but it's a good burn!

cricket26 03-28-2018 09:32 PM

1 hour on the treadmill and I watched YouTube (cheaplazyvegan I love rose!)

Gemme 03-29-2018 06:03 AM

It's a strange experience shoveling snow and ice when it's nearly 60 degrees outside but I did it yesterday and will be doing it again today. It doesn't take long to work up a sweat.

cricket26 03-31-2018 11:59 AM

30 minutes of yard work...at the Drs office yesterday and I am 9 lbs over my normal weight and 20 lbs over my goal weight

Greco 03-31-2018 01:13 PM

endings...beginnings...

Started my run this am under a full bright blue Moon
without a definite distance...simply to run and go
until my body told me to turn around and head back.

It was freeing...and I thought about all the endings
I've had in my life, and the beginnings that led to
fullness, groundedness, balance, and Self-compassion.

Where am I going with these lines? Same as with my
running this morning, simply to feel, think and go until
the words tell me it's time to turn and head to where
my Soul intends to go. A 7mi run in the desert under a
full bright and blue Moon can be moving in more ways
than one.

I have been neglecting exercise for weeks now. I am going to get back on the wagon starting tomorrow.

Gemme 04-01-2018 12:14 PM

I got back into weight training this morning. My warmup was on the elliptical.

Stats: 84 cal, .55 mi, 9 min

I ventured into the circuit training room and did 2 sets of 12 reps on each piece of equipment using higher ends of my lifting spectrum so I expect that I'll be a wee bit tender tomorrow.

Good news is that I'll be shoveling snow tomorrow so I won't be able to tell my workout aches from my shoveling snow aches. There's been a storm the first week of April every year I've been here. The good news is that this should be the last one....*crosses fingers*

My workout was followed by some seriously good stretching. I brought my mat back into the circuit room, which was cool and quiet except for the music. Very enjoyable!

I had a funny experience and it's semi-workout related so I'm going to import the story from the smile thread. See below!

I was walking into the store and still had my workout gear on, including my long shirt that says, "Abs are great, but have you tried donuts?". A guy was pulling his car out into the main driving area in front of the store and stopped his car to comment on my shirt and laugh. I've gotten quite a bit of feedback from this shirt and really enjoy the conversations that it initiates. Total smile moment!

JDeere 04-01-2018 04:18 PM

Applied weed and feed then ant killer on the yard with a scotts edgeguard deal. Im soooo out of shape.

RockOn 04-01-2018 08:06 PM

Yesterday and today, I worked hard on burning two stumps. After yesterday's burn, I had to do a lot of prep work (digging and axing) before I set them on fire.

First I cut up about ten pallets. Then dug deep around and under them. I could not have gone so deep and under had I not burned them yesterday. I was able to axe a lot of their roots. The digging and axing wore me out.

Then I strategicaly placed pallet pieces all around each one, poured diesel fuel all over - struck the match and poof, took about a minute for the fire to encompass both. Kept adding more wood as needed.

I keep getting better methods. Good thing, will have a whole lot more ahead.

I am frazzeled!

cinnamongrrl 04-02-2018 05:21 AM

With the nicer weather, I've been more inclined to get out and walk with the dogs...

This led me to realizing how out of shape I am so now I'm implementing other exercise as well.

I've been doing kettle bell workouts mostly, YouTube yoga (Adrienne is my favorite) and Piyo dvds.

I've also made many changes in the food I eat. I'm doing low carb as much as possible. It's really not as hard as I thought it would be. I know it's all combining to make me feel better and its only been a week.

easygoingfemme 04-02-2018 06:13 AM

Yesterday was a good almost 5 miles with some good hills walking my dog- and walking him means practically jogging because he's 100 lbs and excited about *everything*

Today I work 8am-9pm so exercise will be whatever running around I do during the work day.

Greco 04-02-2018 07:27 PM

2mi

2mi walk at the gym track today...a resting period that
is important even when I get impatient with it...tomorrow
another walk of 2mi...I'll tell you that this "resting period" is
frustrating and motivating...when my runs are scheduled I'm
more than content to move into and through the
running...Wed 8mi...that's the plan.
Weight buddy meeting me tomorrow and we'll
do our thing...he chuckles at my weird running/walking
schedule...well, we'll see...2019 is
around the corner...smiling.

Gemme 04-03-2018 10:25 AM

I had to drop my car off at the mechanic's before 8 this morning so I went early and got a good half hour in on the elliptical. My abs and shoulders were/are angry with me from the previous workout and I slept wrong the night before last so my neck and shoulders are super tight. I needed something to warm me up and maybe loosen some muscles. The elliptical's usually good for that and today was no different. I felt good afterwards. Too bad that feeling doesn't last all day. If only there was a new massage shop opening up around here that was offering free massages. I'd totally find a way there, car or no car.

Stats: 289 cal, 2.06 mi, 30:00 min

This was followed up by a fast but thorough stretch session.

cricket26 04-05-2018 08:46 PM

1 hour on the treadmill (today and tuesday)

easygoingfemme 04-06-2018 01:45 PM

I got time in the gym this morning. 45 minutes split between elliptical and rowing machine there. My arms are sore so I know I did good :)

Greco 04-07-2018 06:20 PM

7

warm, warm morning run 7mi...this week 3 times 2mi walks
8mi, 9mi runs alternatively...yes, those rest periods
are working...Tomorrow begins a new sequence of
3mi walks times 3 for the week...then 8, 9, 7mi runs
alternating...weights after the 3mi walks at the
track and a gym friend.

keep on keepin' on, Greco

Gemme 04-07-2018 06:28 PM

Nothing much today but tomorrow....watch out!

Gemme 04-08-2018 08:23 AM

Okay, I made it! It feels like forever but it's only been 5 days. Still, too long.

I've been squinchy lately so I opted to do the elliptical again to work some knots out and loosey my goosey.

Stats: 282 cal, 1.90 mi, 30 min, random program, level 4

Follow that up with a stretch and I feel much better now.
