Realizing I went all day without needing to take any ibuprofen...it's the first time in a week...I'm very happy to be on the mend :)

Brutus, the eaglet fledged today. He made the short distance between the nest tree and the parental sleeping tree with ease. When he got there, he hopped up and down and flapped his wings in pride. Amazingly, he landed with ease and right side up too, and made it back to the nest with ease and right side up as well.

Lil guy was in the nest jumping up and down and flapping too. I like to think it was in solidarity but I suspect he was telling his older sibling to grab some chow while he was out and about. They still havent been fed yet today.

He is now napping in the nest next to lil guy. Lil guy is resting his head on the Brut and has a wing slung over him. Definate kodiak moment (presuming anyone still knows what that means :))

An early birthday present. It was absolutely perfect.

Cuddling and loving on a cute little chihuahua, then he nipped me on my nose! LOL!

I made an impromptu decision to go to my happy place; Chimney Rock...

The pups and I walked along the river...it's a pretty river that rushes over huge boulders...there were beautiful rainbow trout in the eddy...and the sun setting on the cliffs...breath taking...

Its always time well spent..

Conquering my fear of walking across wooden bridges. Legs are sore from my 3 mile hike/walk. So good to be sore.

Smiling and cracking up..

Blaze is suppose to be studying for a test. I noticed he started chapter two tonight. I look over and some phone game is on in his phone. I gently tap him on his bare leg. He looks over, and I wag my finger at the phone and then point to the book.

He has this "caught in the cookie jar " look.

"I needed a break"
Ahuh, page two of chapter two break!

Procrastination at it's finest.

Watching my son carry stuff to the dumpster. It feels so good to be getting rid of clutter and boxing up things I intend to keep/take with me when I move.

A day after winning the Boston Marathon women’s race, Atsede Baysa gave her trophy to Bobbi Gibb, the first woman to ever finish the marathon, in honor of her bravery and courage 50 years ago.

The Boston Marathon gender barrier fell 50 years ago, on April 19, 1966. That’s when Roberta Gibb, 23, crossed the finish line in 3 hours 21 minutes 40 seconds — in front of more than two-thirds of the male runners that day. To honor her breakthrough, Boston Marathon organizers have named Gibb, who is known as Bobbi, grand marshal of this year’s race.

Two months before the 1966 marathon, Gibb had written race officials to request an entry form.

She received a curt reply: Sorry, we are an A.A.U. event, and A.A.U. regulations forbid women to compete in any race longer than 1.5 miles. Furthermore, “women are physiologically incapable of running 26.2 miles.”

Boston didn’t allow women to run officially until 1972, when Long Island’s Nina Kuscsik became the first official women’s champion.

Gibb said she would keep the trophy for a year, and then bring it to Baysa in her native Ethiopia.

My sons, in less than five minutes time agreeing to a game plan for tomorrow without butting heads like they often do. Gosh peace in the valley for more than a split nanosecond could it really last - today it certainly seems so. :)
