So we have been getting a metal roof put on our house. The roofer was here with his guys when the insurance adjuster came to the house across the street. He went over to work with the adjuster to show him the hail damage done. The woman who owns the house was outside waiting for them to finish up and as I sit in front of my house I hear him tell her there is damage to one side but not so much to the other side of the roof so technically he can only pay her for half of the roof. After he left, I yelled over to her, "Why did that insurance commercial run through my head 'how do they expect you to drive half a car?'" LOL!! Amazing how the media sticks in our minds. Isn't it??

Had quite the sweet tooth when I was wee, I'm the only one, right? While at the store a few weeks ago, I looked for a Marathon bar which was one of my favorites. Was crushed! No Marathon bar in sight! No wax lips, no candy cigarettes. Say WHAT? No candy cigarettes? So many of us in second grade looked so glamorous innocently puffing away on those sugary sticks of Winston, Marlboro and Camel. Have memories of us on the monkey bars with them sticking out of our pieholes hanging upside down, acting all....second grade and stuff.

Wonder how many of us smoked real cigs from having exposure to the fake, sugary ones. *Not me.

My post was going to be about forgotten candies from our youth, but I went off on a tangent about candy cigarettes.

So while talking to my sister today she informed me that she had a rooster that has showed up on her property and just been hanging around. She noticed him out by her tomato plant the other day and he was pecking away. She thought maybe there were bugs near it and he was getting those. However, today when she went out to pick her tomato it was completely gone! She said near the end of last week she thought she had three tomatoes on the plants but when she went to them they were gone as well so she thought she had just picked them earlier taken them in and ate them. She said that he apparently took those too!! A neighbor came to visit and she asked him if he wanted a rooster. She told him about the tomatoes and he laughed and said, "Well you know what I will do with him.....I will fatten him up and then have dinner!" He then looked at her and asked, "Are you attached to him?" She didn't answer and he replied, "Yeessss. Yoooouuu are" and laughed. So when she told me this I asked, "Well have you named him yet?" She said, "I am trying not to do that". I later recounted this story to our other sister and when I got to the part of "I am trying not to do that" she exclaimed, "Pluck". I burst out laughing and said, "Oooooo I have to tell her this" so I quickly grabbed my cell and called her. She said, "Yeah with my luck everyone will think I said Cluck and we all know a rooster crows". LOL!!

When I first saw this, I laughed and grimaced. Simultaneously. Not quite sure about "this will be you if you don't study"

I was raised to get a college degree, you were nothing without it, you would be nothing without it. As the years go by, I see millions of graduates neck deep in student debt, not finding work that matches their level of education, and losing hope.

Quite aware this is satire and silliness, but if I were a parent of a young girl, I would push taking trade classes, fixing things.

Not sure if you are anywhere near New Hampshire but if you are you can come visit our store if you are needing a candy smoke fix. We hemmed and hawed about selling them but I knew they didn't make me a smoker.........so we brought them in. Turns out they sell very well for us. Can't seem to find the bubblegum ones anymore so we strictly have the candy ones. As for the wax lips (and Dracula fangs) we can only get them around Halloween. More good sellers!
