Ugh... The holidays *are* tough. We can do this, Rockin. I'm guessin' the thread will really pick up over the next couple of months. :) But we *can* do it.

I'm about to have to start visiting the gym we've been paying for the last couple of months. I know myself well enough to know I will not get out in the cold for cardio, so I'm going to have to learn to love the treadmill. I will do it though; it's worth it!

Well good morning all my healthy peeps!

I'm back from the Reunion, and FINALLY at a point where I feel rested. I'm not gonna lie.... I completely overdid it this weekend. Ate a bunch of crap, drank too much, didn't exercise a bit (unless you count dancing my butt off) and I know damn well I didn't get enough water consumption. I haven't stepped on the scale as of today... I will wait until Thursday which is my normal day to weigh.

Yesterday I started trying my best to get back in the swing of things. I was so deligent for the first 4 months on WW online (losing 28 pounds)... and know that once I get back into my routine of journaling I will do so much better. Sometimes it's tough to find that motivation to get it going again... and luckily for me, I have y'all! It's just like riding a bike ~ now it's time for me to get my ass back on it :)

I'm glad to see so many folks accomplishing goals and making some good headway on their journeys. Keep up the great work y'all.

**ps, with the holidays coming up, maybe we can start posting some healthy receipes for the traditional comfort food that is oh so bad for us. So, if y'all have any ideas, let's start sharing*

Dancing does count as an exercise and it was a lot of fun...Maybe for the next reunion, we can have a daily walk scheduled around the River Market district..

Have a great day,

Zimmy

Great idea!

I don't know how good I'm gonna be at this part though. I'm stubborn. There are some things that make Thanksgiving feel like Thanksgiving......and Christmas feel like Christmas (no offense to those who celebrate other holidays).....for me.

I think moderation is going to be critical for me in all of this. I will try. And I will be open to trying some of what is posted here. And we will *definitely* prepare our favorites with better health in mind. But pumpkin pie???? How will I ever resist??????? :(

Pumpkin pie... that's what I am talking about! I'm thinking even if I switch to the sugar free or lite cool whip it will help. Yep, moderation just might be the key.

This year, I'm cooking for my family. I have decided ahead of time, that I'm gonna throw a big ol' salad into the mix and/or a fruit tray. That way, I can load up on that kind of stuff first, and then add the other stuff.

Like so many of us, I struggle with sugar. If I have even one cookie, or even one of those snack size halloween candy treats, it's all over. My sugar cravings start all over again. They are terrible! Fortunately, for me, Halloween isn't too bad as I don't like chocolate. But Thanksgiving and Christmas, cookies and pies. I struggle. Last year I had none, not even one. I knew it would be all over. However, I did make two sweet potato
pies with marshmallow topping. It was better than pumpkin pie and coolwhip or ICE CREAM and somehow, I made it through. Another really tempting thing for me, is all that bread...then I want butter.....I have to say no to it all, because I am like a *JUNKIE* give me some, and I can't stop, I'm on a binge. It's awful. So no thank you, teeth clenched for emphasis, because my relatives are food pushers. I try to avoid them as much as possible during the holidays, but there comes a point where I have to make an apperance.

Just a side bar, when I worked in the Hotel business, and I worked shifts, I always used I'm working, or I worked graveyard last night to be able to beg out, without the guilt trip. A couple times of me falling asleep on the couch during festivities, they stopped nagging me. LOL. Oh, I miss those days! :goodluck: to all of us. Sugar is not our friend.

My pumpkin pie revenge this year was tart sized pumpkin pie. Instead of making a big pie I made two sizes of tarts... I cannot remember the points off the top of my head, however (looking inside deep cavern aka brain) each tart (rounded up) was worth two points. (???) The crust was where the points lived.

So, if you love it, and I do.... try making it different.

Candace works all the damn time... so she hardly ever posts. I saw she was online earlier, but she could be just checking from her phone. They didn't get back to Austin till almost midnight last night.

Yes, we will figure out a way to incorporate more healthy food/exercise so we don't overdo it next year. **ie, meaning ME*

little_ms_sunshyne 10-18-2011 09:26 AM

You mean US! I wont mention how many tiramisus I devoured!

Good Morning Thinker.Yes the hollidays are going to be tough.I usely do a lot of bakeing for the holidays..its just not the same if I dont..kinda of a long standing family thing.Somehow im changeing how its done but to stay on the food plan as much as possable,Foxys idea of tarts insted of pies my do the trick, last year was my big aha moment with food I will not have it happen again to mess up what I have achived. When I think back to the last day of the holidays when I was suposed to be throwing away the last of the sweets I was siting on the trunk of my car stuffing the last of the pecan pie in my face like it was going to be the last pie ever isnt a good way to end the hollidays(well it depends on how you look at it) for me anyway. There use to be a house full hear but now only me and my son, when I really look at this I feel sad that my family isnt hear any more.I will be ok,we all will.

Odd story kinda unrelated to weight loss but still....

I went to a San Pedro (holy cactus with psychotropic qualities) ceremony with a beautiful shaman from Peru. It was a 10 hour ceremony. But.... when drinking the horrible (and I mean horrible) concoction my prayer of intent was for love. On the way home the next day my GF (ex now) and I stopped for coffee and I got a sweet. I then got sick. It took me a few times to realize that sugar now made me sick. I was cured of my addiction to sugar (unfortunately not high processed white flour food ugh) and have not had a real craving since. I have eaten sweets, but I always pay for it. Sugar is so not my friend. The reaction is IMMEDIATE.

Anyway, just sharing a story that makes me happy. :canadian:

I like the recipe sharing idea. When I joined WW after my babies were born, was the old school WW, which I really liked a lot-the weighing and measuring and it really worked for me. Tried the points, just could not get into it. If you give me an inch (foodwise) I will take a mile!

Anyway, I do have some great recipes from those days which I shall dig out. I used to always make a pumpkin pie-sans crust and bread pudding that were WW. I will see what I can find.

PS: up to 60 sit-ups now. Still doing stairs, etc. Control feels awesome.

SelfMadeMan 10-18-2011 11:50 AM

I'd definitely be down for recipe swaps! My favorite are healthy crock pot recipes... soooo easy! I've got some great ones I'll share - should we share them right here, or start a thread for it? Or is there one already?

Corkey 10-18-2011 11:57 AM

There are lots of recipe threads, one for a cook book even.
