NYC Postal Worker Charged With Hate Crime for Threatening, Chasing, and Spitting on Muslim Woman

A New York City postal worker has been charged with a hate crime for harassing a Muslim woman pushing her infant child in a stroller, according to reports.

Dainton Coley allegedly approached two women wearing hijabs on Nostrand Avenue in Bedford Stuyvesant after 8 p.m. Friday, according to the New York Daily News.

Coley, who was wearing a U.S. Postal Service uniform, began cursing at her and making “anti-Muslim comments,” police said.

“You bumbaclot Muslim,” Coley said, firing off a Jamaican expletive, according to police sources. “I’m going to burn your Muslim temple down.”
Coley reportedly spit on the woman pushing the stroller. According to an AP report, Coley chased the two women into a nearby deli, where the situation did not improve:

Coley then followed them around the store, screaming obscenities, and told the woman he was going to burn down her place of worship, authorities said.

Coley was reportedly taken into custody today and charged with aggravated harassment based on race or religion, menacing as a hate crime, and child endangerment.

Soooooo, I'd seen stuff about this movie several times but never took the time to actually watch anything until I watched a snippet of an interview with John Malkovich about "Being John Malkovich" and he mentioned it...This movie is LITERALLY not coming out for 100 years. O.O That's just fascinating to me...sooooo much that could happen...

I'm glad to see he's becoming more reasonable...

Roger and Christine Bessey had been married for 27 years and were the parents of six children when he learned he had AIDS. According to his family, Roger had been living a double life for decades.

Sinead O'Connor threatened to commit suicide in a harrowing letter the singer posted on Facebook Sunday afternoon. In the letter, O'Connor focuses on "a horrific set of betrayals" she accuses her family of perpetrating against her. "I have taken an overdose," she warned. "There is no other way to get respect. I am not at home, I'm at a hotel, somewhere in Ireland, under another name. If I wasn't posting this, my kids and family wouldn't even find out."

*painfully more at link. Full disclosure, I love Sinead O'Connor and have admired all of her work since the late 80's. At the Lillith Fair in Atlanta Ga, she was a surprise guest and my tummy was doing jumping jacks for an entire week. She obviously is in a lot of personal pain and I wish her peace.
