Weird Eating Habits

Weird food combinations you eat and others cringe at when they see you eating it.
I know I'm not the only one out there, so tell me what you like.

I'll start by sharing a food I've eaten since childhood
Scrambled eggs and maple syrup
My friend's that have seen me eat this, cringe at the sight
I say, don't knock it until you've tried it

It's my mom's fault. All her children eat scrambled eggs like that
In fact, one of my brother's has his children eating them, too
I'm thinking it was passed down from generation to generation in my family

WolfyOne 07-01-2011 08:02 PM

11 hours posted and I'm starting to think I may be the only one willing to tell others I eat a weird combo at breakfast some mornings.

Is there no one else willing to share?

dixie 07-01-2011 08:06 PM

Hmm...weird food combinations huh? Let's see...

My favorite sandwich just has a lot of Duke's mayo, 4-5 pieces of cheese, and a handful of crushed up plain Lay's chips...oh, and on plain white bread.

Also, once in a while I have a bad habit of putting a dill pickle on top of a brownie. (Don't ask. I have no idea where that came from lol)

Thanks Dixie, I don't feel so alone now in my eating habits

Oh and I won't ask, lol

My dill pickles have to be kosher and the only thing I would put them on is a hot dog or eat them right out of the jar

The only thing I think american cheese is good for is grilled cheese sandwiches and never on my burgers

JustJo 07-01-2011 08:19 PM

I love cole slaw on hotdogs....tons of salsa on my scrambled eggs...and whipped cream on yogurt....but none of those is weird. :cheesy:

If I had to pick one out, I'd say the whipped cream on yogurt is one I never heard anyone mention until now, Jo.

That actually sounds like something I'd be willing to try since I like my grits on the sweet side with lots of butter.

Back to my childhood, my mom's theory was to make food sweet and her children would eat......well, it worked for a few things, lol

I've had cream of rice cereal with slices banana in it, but trying to picture plain rice and banana, I'd have to add butter, milk, and sugar, so I can call it hot cereal

Cringing at the thought, but not knocking it

swan 07-01-2011 09:57 PM

My favorite shammich is creamy peanut butter, concord grape jelly, with a few thin slices of sharp cheddar cheese, all on wheat bread.

One of my favorite dinners is macaroni and tomatoes. You make some plain old elbow mac, cook it off, toss in a can of stewed tomatoes, heat it through and sprinkle it with shredded cheddar.

TxBelle 07-02-2011 02:28 PM

Smooth peanut butter, grape jam, and mayo. On wheat bread, with a cold glass of milk.... Yum!

*Anya* 07-02-2011 02:48 PM

Echos of Elvis!

I love peanut butter, banana & butter sandwiches on white bread with the crusts cut off, yum. Unfortunately my ass loves them too, so they are a rare treat as the fat & cholesterol count is off the charts.

MissPriss 07-02-2011 04:19 PM

french fries with pepper mustard and ketchup
sandwich with just mustard and bread
olives, cheese and italian dressing
buttermilk

Blade 07-02-2011 04:49 PM

I don't eat any steak sauce on my steak, but I do put steak sauce on my baked potato. When someone sees it for the first time they usually go, what the hell is that?

QueenofSmirks 07-02-2011 04:55 PM

I've put grape jelly on my nachos; and my new favorite is putting both ranch dressing and sesame ginger dressing on my salad and mixing them together :)

I do the same, but then sour cream on the very rare steak.

deb_U_taunt 07-02-2011 05:01 PM

My partner loves PB and marshmellow fluff. I think its nasty, but his family all loves it.

Dominique 07-02-2011 05:14 PM

Meat is not one of my favorite foods. Somehow, I aquired a taste for Braunschweiger.....I like it with ketsup (heinz of course) and red onions on pumpernickle bread.

I'm very picky about the braunschweiger I eat, and don't eat it very often. I know it's heart attack on bread.

When we were kids, I remember my brother making this twisted up face and saying to me *Do you know what that is??* Just the way he was looking at me and my treasured
braunschweiger I knew I didn't want to know. I still don't!

I'm a big sauce person, so I dip and coat and smear most of my food in one sauce or another. I've found that A-1 with Worcestershire sauce is the most versatile thing to use. I put it on potatoes, almost all meats and even some veggies.

It could be quite bad, but really it's not. There are foods that are muuuuch worse. It's a form of liverwurst and is a spreadable liver sausage.

swan 07-03-2011 10:44 AM

I almost forgot. I like to put a few tablespoons of small curd cottage cheese on my baked spuds instead of sour cream. It is the NOM.

The_Lady_Snow 07-03-2011 10:49 AM

Spaghetti with cottage cheese :)

I am so not knocking it, but did make a face until I realized my mom used to replace ricotta cheese with cottage cheese in some of her recipes.
I'm guessing it melts into the spaghetti.

Chancie 07-03-2011 03:56 PM

I think it must be an East European dish, and

I was often served noodles with farmer cheese when I was a little girl.

Yum.

Exactly! I have acknowledged, even as a kid I was a picky eater to the point of strange. My father would often put cottage cheese into my pasta dishes so I'd get protein. He knew I loved cottage cheese (see strange kid) MMMM.

Abigail Crabby 07-03-2011 05:16 PM

I no longer eat these......they are a heart attack on bread lol

My Mom had me hooked on these as a kid.

Cheeze Whiz and Peanut Butter on Sour Dough.

Had to be Sour Dough or the sandwhich just wasn't right.

Now that's weird.

The_Lady_Snow 07-03-2011 05:49 PM

If I eat out, and order a burger and fries, I must have 6 fries on top of my burger then I close it up with the bun.

But you don't do that if you eat in?:|

What about if you eat in the car?:|

moxie 07-03-2011 05:53 PM

When I was a kid I would eat ketchup sandwiches on rye bread.

Now I don't like ketchup or rye bread much.

Well in the car if I drive I have the boy fix it the way I like it, other than that I'm not as into the burger if it does not have the aligned bed of 6 fries.

LaneyDoll 07-03-2011 08:08 PM

I used to like Wendy's fries dipped in a Frosty. But it is not the same since the fries changed.

I love, love, love Rice Krispies on top of vanilla ice cream.

:sparklyheart:
