Finally Lady Gaga has managed to press all my buttons...

Wow!

atomiczombie 08-29-2011 12:27 PM

This is so beyond awesome I hardly have words. The drag was not only genius, but the look on Biber's face is PRICELESS. And being a huge Queen fan, adding Brian May to all that awesomeness is liked adding a rich chocolate sauce to the tastiest cake on the planet.

I don't usually listen to the type of music Gaga performs, but I started to really like her when she was on Saturday Night Live on the season ending this year when Justin Timberlake hosted. She was hilarious! Here's a taste of her awesomeness from that episode:

She also captured my heart in this performance:

Scorp 08-29-2011 12:29 PM

She looks sorta like Ralph Macchio from the Karate Kid and Dancing With The Stars

Little Monster in the House!

I love her!!! My 11 year old thinks she's AWESOME! We can share this music together and we're glad he thinks she's someone he looks up to, better than some douche bag foot ball jerk!!!

*Anya* 08-29-2011 01:13 PM

This is SO damn hot!!

Lord who would have ever thought she could pull off butch!

I think she is awesome!

deb_U_taunt 08-29-2011 03:29 PM

I love that she stayed in drag all night. She was so adorable. I haven't ever listened to her music before, either. Now, a fan.

Reader 08-29-2011 03:42 PM

I bet Madonna hates her guts.

Leigh 08-29-2011 03:44 PM

No disrecpect to Madonna, who I love too, but ............. Be Jealous material girl :-)

Today I fell is lust with her - what a hot butch! You Rawk Gaga as always :hangloose:

betenoire 08-29-2011 04:01 PM

Why would we automatically presume that Madonna hates Lady Gaga for....what? For being a successful young woman? For being interesting? For being another artist that gay men are obsessed with?

Maybe Madonna is happy for Gaga. Maybe Madonna doesn't give a shit either way.

betenoire 08-29-2011 04:08 PM

Okay, I think I've figured out why the whole "I bet Madonna hates Lady Gaga!" thing irritated me so much.

It's like presuming that successful women can only become and remain successful women by clawing at the eyes of and being placed in strategic opposition to other women. Fuck that.

I agree, but I do think the post was funny! (and I think was Hunter just joking around?)

Ok, I get it. I didn't think the post was serious though. I thought it was just referencing that Lady Gaga is another talented, creative woman. Like a giving props to Gaga kind of thing.

Novelafemme 08-29-2011 04:12 PM

Oh HOLY SHIT! For once I'm sorry I missed out! What an incredible performance and BRIAN MAY?!?! HOLY SHIT!!!

Yeah, could be I'm just hungry. I haven't eaten today because cooking sounds like work and I can't even order a pizza because I don't want to get dressed. ;)

(Also, Lady Gaga is not Butch. Jesus. She dressed in drag, she's not suddenly A Butch. Lordamercy!)

Yeah, bete, quit being mean to the newb.

I agree. She didn't do too bad, though....except when she went to drink the beer...less than smooth.

Maybe if you answered the door naked the food would be free?

I didn't know Hunter was new. Besides, I was being mean to Matthew. :canadian:

Or, I was being nice to Madonna. You decide.

Also: I am not naked. Just I'm wearing Betty Boop pj bottoms and a super ratty old A-Shirt. I guess it's okay for the pizza delivery-person to see me like that.

I know she's not Butch - but her drag performance still has me in lust ;)

I dunno. She's kinda douchebaggy in drag.

If you can't say something nice, get out of the thread!

(and order pizza....you grump!)

Luv 08-29-2011 04:35 PM

Im not a fan but I like her better as a butch

Guy 08-29-2011 04:46 PM

Why was she all hunched over? Looked like an old man. The beer wasn't very cool either

Now now. I think she looked sufficiently foxy. I just think that often drag is pretty boring because people act so douchebaggy when they're doing it.

girl_dee 08-29-2011 05:34 PM

I do love Lady Gaga and her balls! I love her shock effect!

Imho she's hot in drag - the cigs I don't like, but HER, I like!
Smooches,

I was only joking, I never meant to piss anyone off ~ I apologize

Diva 08-29-2011 11:43 PM

Say what You will....but that performance was genius, in my opinion.

Oh, Matthew, it didn't piss me off. :) I was just going to say something like, "Yo, young lad, hold up there!". I was thinking about how if you were old enough to be around in Madonna's hey-day you probably would never say that. She was/is one of a kind!

That's all. Certainly no need to apologize!

Write14u 08-30-2011 08:59 AM

I had mixed reactions to Gaga's drag performance. I like that it mixed things up, but it was in no way "genius." (See: 1984, Annie Lennox. Very similar). So, it wasn't groundbreaking, plus she set a bad example by puffing the cigarette and swilling the beer. I also think she came off looking like a poor man's Ralph Macchio in The Outsiders and talked like she was on Jersey Shore.
The performance was good, I thought, and it's always good to see the reactions.
I like Gaga, but I was very mixed on this.

Diva 08-30-2011 09:21 AM

Annie Lennox is genius quality, too.
It was an 'act'....it was theatre. I'm not a real Gaga fan, but I was impressed.

The_Lady_Snow 08-30-2011 10:03 AM

She's appealing to her younger little Monster crowd, she's a different, quirky, nerdy, and connects with kids that way. She puts a message out which is accept people for who and what they are. A lot of shit has been done before, she's today's sensation not an 80's one.

Very good points, and I agree with you on them. I was just talking with a friend, who pointed out Gaga sends out a much more positive message of acceptance than for instance Katy Perry with "I Kissed a Girl," which made it seem naughty and freaky and not natural.

Katy Perry is a fucking barsexual. It's so annoying of her.

:canoworms:

ETA - although for some reason it didn't offend me when Jill Sobule did it.

Not a fan of the Perry, I hear cats wailing during her songs dunno why.

Madonna was first around when I was like 4 and 5 yrs old so I wasn't old enough to really see her until I got older ~ she is one of a kind though there is no doubt :-)

She is very different, and thats what I love the most about her ~ yes she does things that have been one before this much is true, but she does it in a very different way than Annie and Madge have. She's definately someone who is appealing more to the youth of today, as we all know that even though we still have a LONG way to go to gain acceptance for the LGBTQ community its in many ways so much better today thus Gaga can appeal to the younger crowd ....... I'm very much a fan :)

I still love the song in general, but I guess as time has worn on the video hasn't impressed Me much though I'll always be a Katy Perry fan :D

I asked myself "What the heck is a branding expert?" It ought to refer to a working cowboy heating up irons. Do people actually pay other people to tell them how to be? Gosh!
