Ketchup

Yes, ketchup. The must-have for every meal..

Okay. How do you like it? What's your favorite brand? Glass bottle or squeezable? Refrigerated or room temp? What do you absolutely HAVE to put it on? What can't you stand to put it on? And what's the strangest thing you've ever seen it used on? G'wan! Spill! :sunglass:

Medusa 03-19-2012 07:01 PM

Heinz only for me!

I don't eat nearly as much ketchup as I used to. Used to put it on everything from green beans to eggs but something switched in my taste buds a few years back and now it's a rarity on potatoes or hamburgers only.

Just as an aside: Old Ketchup left fermenting on a plate in the open air that smells like that really bad vinegar-y grossness will make me gag in an instant!

girl_dee 03-19-2012 07:01 PM

Ketchup, the only thing i like it on is french fries which i rarely eat

Syr calls it vegetable sauce or something like that

ps i hate ketchup bottle farts!

suebee 03-19-2012 07:07 PM

I'm a Heinz gal too. Love them squeezable bottles! When I use a glass bottle I have this little ritual of tapping the bottle until the neck is emptied so it's ready for the next person.

I have ketchup on a lot less than I used to, but the only way I can eat fried eggs is amply annointed with the red stuff. BUT - I now prefer something else on my hamburgers......peanut butter. :seeingstars: Yes! Don't be a hater until you've tried it! :eatinghersheybar: <<< represents a hamburger with PB. :)

Charming Texan 03-19-2012 07:19 PM

Heinz is my brand of choice. I never eat ketchup much. If I do, it is with french fries only.

Did anyone see that burger king commercial for St.Patricks day? They were giving free fries out all weekend with green ketchup. blech. Something like that can ruin it for me. For a long ass time.

dixie 03-19-2012 07:22 PM

Hunt's. Squeezable. Refrigerated. I put it on nearly everything.

always2late 03-19-2012 07:23 PM

I have to confess, I've never really used ketchup, except as an ingredient in some recipes. But, for some odd reason, there is always a bottle of Heinz in my fridge, I guess on the chance I might come across a recipe that calls for it.

Heinz only!!! All others are pale comparisons and failures of a magnificent altitude.

Squeeze it, baby!

Refrigerated, preferrably, but if I am desperate, I'll use those little packets from the fast food restaurant.

Fries!!!! Potatoes!!!! They beg for the stuff.

I hate ketchup/catsup on meatloaf. I think it should be criminal.

Lima beans. It's a tie between that and ketchup and seeing someone put mayonnaise on them.

Don't spill the ketchup!!!

I'm not hating. I'm just judging you harshly.

JustJo 03-19-2012 07:35 PM

<--- Heinz 57 girl....on hamburgers, fried egg sandwiches, and french fries....and is a double whammy for meatloaf (in the recipe and on top :) )

clay 03-19-2012 07:39 PM

<~~~~~~~uses catsup AND DUKE'S mayo mixed up to dip fries in...I eat catsup on hashbrowns and sometimes on a burger. I use mayo on my burger on buns, too. I like to add mayo to my pintos along with a chopped onion..yummo! I also eat MAYO on my hotdogs with chili and wiener...and green onions OR slaw OR Kraut...lol...BUT wait..I digress, it is CATSUP we are discussing. I don't diss on anyone on how they eat it or on what...grins...enjoy your ketchup/catsup on anything you wish....smiles..
PS Heinz OR DelMonte OR Hunt's..makes me no matta....and squeeze bottle.
There was a brand that made purple and green catsup here several years ago..anyone else see them? It left stains of the color you used on your mouth IF you dripped it..lol

Corkey 03-19-2012 07:42 PM

Yes! Mac 'n cheese, but only Kraft in a box kind and dusted with pepper. Homemade is au natural.

Can be used on a burger or in stew, or chowder, now you can't do that with ketchup...

Pickapeppa Sauce is created using a unique blend of tomatoes, onions, sugar, cane vinegar, mangoes, raisins, tamarinds, peppers and spices. These fine ingredients are selected from seven countries around the world, to ensure the best possible quality. This blend is then aged in oak barrels for one full year before bottling to ensure the rich flavor that Pickapeppa’s admirers so love.

He just told me I over explained it:|

You can actually order on line

it is yummy

I had to ask Corkey what PB was (i know peanut butter) but I thought I must be wrong
I can not say that it would go well with PB
but it is very good with chicken and beef

PB on hamburgers and honey on onion rings. And while we're at it - no butter on THIS girls lobster: It's vinegar or nothing!

Now I think I'll have a :tea: and just linger on these thoughts. Mmmmmm!

Corkey 03-19-2012 08:15 PM

Onion rings clearly demand ranch dressing....geesh.

No matter how you spell it, it's ick and doesn't belong in my mouth.

Apocalipstic 03-19-2012 09:22 PM

Heinz.

As a child I slathered whatever weirdness my parents forced me to eat with Heinz.
Odious Brussles sprouts
Vile liver and onions
Disgusting cottage cheese
etc.

Now?
Onion rings
French Fries
Burgers
Tots

I also love 57 Sauce and mayo and condiments in general.

Guy 03-19-2012 09:40 PM

Heinz all the way!!

scootebaby 03-19-2012 09:54 PM

Heinz is what i buy out of habit..of course ive had the same bottle in my fridge since Nov(wonders if it goes bad)...however im not hard core about it

i like it on homemade cheeseburgers

onion rings

french fries from sertain places and made at home

on meatloaf, but i dont make meatloa(the prince doesnt like it)f and finding it how i like it out is hard soooooo alas meatloaf is a far and between indulgence

T4Texas 03-19-2012 10:14 PM

I am not much of a ketchup eater and I think putting it in chili is sacrilgious and would be highly frowned upon here in Texas. Pickapepah is really good tho as a condiment.

sylvie 03-19-2012 10:20 PM

No ketchup for me,
In fact i'm not even one for bottled sauces, period...

Marinade, homemade sauces, or just plain 'ol spices..
Now if my stepmother was here, there isn't anything she doesn't put ketchup on.. In fact, i think it's more ketchup than food most times..

Turtle 03-19-2012 10:50 PM

HEINZ! On lots, although a lot less than I used to.

A few weeks ago, I went to a restaurant with a friend for breakfast....she asked if "they had any ketchup?" Our waiter said, "No." I thought, "WOW! If that's not a statement, I don't know what is." Our waiter followed up with "We have fresh salsa available as an alternative, if you'd like?" My friend accepted and enjoyed that salsa, but not as much as ketchup.
