Beer "Whats your Taste"

When summer comes along my taste for beer gears up. I love beer and basically any kind of beer. Being in Oklahoma we have to go to the liquor store to get real beer and then wait for it to cool down.

I've been drinking PBR lately and I am liking it more an more. I'm usually into the dark stouts such as Guinness because it has nitrogen that creates smaller bubbles and you don't get full as quickly.

My top 5 would be as follows!

Dark Stouts
Bock Beers
Pilsner Beers
Ale Beers
Lager Beers

I don't much care for wheat beers because of the sweetness. I'll have a few every once in awhile but I can not drink them while at the lake all day.

So what are the colds ones you like to partake in?

Blade 06-09-2012 02:56 PM

WOW can't believe we didn't already have this thread....headed to a cookout will be back to post....and naaa I won't be drinking any beer at the cookout

princessbelle 06-09-2012 03:17 PM

Not a beer drinker...

EXCEPT...

When i'm on vacation...i absolutely LOVE and HAVE to have Michelob in the bottle. At least once or it's just not a real vacation.

Something about Micky and vacations. ;)

Princess 06-09-2012 03:25 PM

Generally speaking I am not a beer drinker. That being said, it changes in the summer months :) There is something about being at a barbeque, or camp fire...and having a nice cold bottle... My favorites are Leinenkugels Summer Shandy, Shock Top and Fat Tire! Yum.

aishah 06-09-2012 03:31 PM

i don't drink beer - i'm more of a liquor and occasionally wine femme - but i do like hard cider and hard lemonade :) woodchucks are my more recent obsession.

Blade 06-09-2012 08:57 PM

I absolutely love beer. Especially in the summer, there is nothing that compares to an ice cold beer. I use to keep a cooler full of ice and beer on the porch all summer long. The thing is in summer I sweat like a mule so I can drink about as much beer as I want to and not get a buzz. I don't care for the buzz anyway but I love the taste of beer. My pick of the litter is Coors Lite and Michelob Lite.

Sadly I have become allergic to something in the beer, maybe hops or something I don't know what so I don't drink beer anymore.

miss entycing 06-09-2012 09:07 PM

love love love.

Lowenbrau
Heineken
Corona
Fat Tire
Sam Adams Pale Ale is pretty yummy too.
:)

but sadly, nothing compares to Jack.. straight up, and chilled well.
:sunglass:

How do you like your Tecate's or any other Mexican Beer. I prefer mine fully dressed, gotta have the lime meat and salt.

A Beer Drinkers Dream

This is one of my favorite places to go. Sadly it's almost impossible to get one of these easily.

With the Thunder making the NBA finals I imagine the reservations on these tables are long gone.

My favorite commercial beer is Fuller's ESB. When I was in London some years ago, I looked for a Fuller's pub, to no avail. But I take it on draught here in the States whenever I can find it.

I brew my own beer- I brew ales and stouts/porters. I've got a CO2 system (or in the case of stout, nitrogen), but I also bottle some of each batch to give away. I don't brew lagers- fermentation for ales occurs at room temperature, but lager fermentation must be refrigerated- I'm not buying a refrigerator for that (or giving up room in mine to fit 5 gallons of fermenting beer!). Luckily, my own taste is for ales, so it works out. I've got a batch of porter on hand- my next batch will be a red ale.

Oh, and I just checked- there are gluten-free beer kits! I'll put that on the brew list. :)

Chancie 06-10-2012 08:51 AM

Even here, where it's local, people are surprised when I order Naragansett. We often sit on my front steps and share one after a few hours of gardening. I prefer light beer in general.

Yee Haw! When's the party. Sounds great. I have wanted to make my own beer but I simply do not have the time.

I never thought I'd have this much to say about beer.

Narragansett’s family of classic American lagers and ales are brewed by guys who take pride in the beers they make, and joy in the beers they drink.

The lager and light beers are brewed in Rochester, NY at a brewery that’s been producing award-winning beers for more than 125 years. The fest, porter, bock and summer are craft-brewed in Providence, RI and Pawcatuck, CT.

Our brewmasters use the finest and purest ingredients to ensure that what ends up in your glass is Narragansett at its very best—flavorful, drinkable, and refreshing.

My picks are Amber Bock, fat tire, modelo especial, some red ones are okay if all else fails give me bud or Coors. Sometimes I like to drink it with spicy v8..

I don't care much for sweet beers. I'll drink one every once in a while but cant' hang out all day with the sweet beers. Stouts are my favorite, I love the bold tastes.

Bud Light in a bottle. 20 years and I haven't found a beer I enjoy more. :)

I know a lot of people who are die hard bud light drinkers. Like I said before I can handle them every once in a while. I hear that Sierra Nevada Pale will win your tastes "Buds" over and you'll never go back. This is just a rumor of course :-).

I love beer!!!

I have an app on my phone to keep up with what I have tasted. I am really enjoying the local brew culture here, and am starting to brew my own at home. I got up the nerve to enter a contest, but it got cancelled due to lack of contestants. This fall I am planning on brewing some seasonal beers to watch football and enjoy with meals.

I used to drink pbr, usually at dive bars, outside enjoying a festival or a concert. It gives me a headache now. The budweiser beers are all to sweet tasting for me, so when it comes to a light commercial beer, I love a cold miller light in a can submerged in a ice bath.

This will be my next local purchase.

I am also a fan of growlers and reusing!!!

Wow fantastic find. Sorry PBR gives you a headache. It's become one of my favorite summer beers. Please let us know how you home brew turns out and what you name them.

Pilsner Beers
Ale Beers
Lager Beers
Bock Beers

Usually prefer a bock or a lager but will drink the ale and pilsner beer if they aren't available.

UofMfan 06-10-2012 10:44 AM

I don't normally drink beer. I am more of a scotch, red wine person, but when I do I prefer XX (Dos Equis) or Corona. As for the lighter beers I love Amstel Light.

I am also a fan of the local brews here. The weather is too cold here to enjoy beer as much as I did when I was in South Florida.

pajama 06-10-2012 10:52 AM

Like many, I don't usually drink beer. In fact prior to this summer I would maybe have a beer a year. For many, many years. But I have found that I really like beer when camping. Of the beers I drink I like - Killian's Red, Amber Bock, Amstel Light, Corona Lite (but only if I have the limes), and Yling Yling lager.

Okiebug61 06-10-2012 10:53 AM

Warm up with Stout!

It is believed by many that a Stout beer is best in a cold climate or during the winter. The heavy chewy taste help the drinker sip slower and savor the wonderful flavor of the dark stout. I can't see snuggling up with your other half in front of the fireplace sipping stout but then again who says we can't mix things up a bit.

Yes Yes Yes! I love all things red! Killian's Red is one of my favorites when out at a local pub. I love the robust flavor and the aroma.

Stouts go really well with cold seafood, such as, raw oysters, crab, shrimp cocktail, and clams. There are many out there brewed with warm climates and food in mind. I love a good milk stout.
