Concerts
I love concerts. :)
So what is the last concert you attended? the first concert? the best concert? and of course, the worst concert? Last: been a bit and now a few years ago, Eric Clapton and Robert Cray opened. It was an older crowd and it was weird to be in nose bleed section with kids and no pot smell. First: this is going to date me, Led Zeppelin, the first concert at the King Dome in Seattle. The acoustics were sooo very bad. BUT I saw Zeppelin. Best: the first Lollapalooza tour, (love Fishbone) and it was at the Enumclaw Fairgrounds and a big muddy mosh pit. Worse: toss up between a very stoned Peter Frampton who rambled or a very stoned Chaka Khan who was cussing at the lighting crew (okay, this was also fun) |
Last: Muse a few yrs ago in Denver
First: I think I was 10yrs old...Porter Wagner& Dolly ...yeah, I loved that his jacket lit up :) Best: Seeing Reba in Ames, Iowa on my 16th bday ...;) Worst: hmmm not sure there is one yet, love all the concerts I've been to *tip hat* |

in my teens and twenties, i went quite often. loved it. i haven't been in a long long time. i enjoy music so much.
last concert: i honestly can't remember. may have been reba. the first concert: air supply LOL the best concert: i've lost count of the times i've seen reba. but now def leppard was awe-yeah too! the worst concert: zz top, ... atmosphere. i didn't care too much for the whiskey bottles breaking on the floor and such lol. the lighting show was great! |
great thread! I love music and don't get to enough concerts admittedly....
First concert I ever saw: The Cure! Best concert I ever saw: The Red Hot Chili Peppers....and the Foo Fighters opened....I was the only one there without a tattoo  Last concert I saw: I believe it was Def Leppard...lol It was a free concert and I have loved them since I was a teenager :) Next concert I'm seeing: Teddy is taking me to see Little Big Town in NYC for Valentines Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) And...as a classical music lover, I'd LOVE someday to see Carl Orff's Carmina Burana performed live....I was an odd teenager and I've loved it since then :) AND....as a not so closeted Taylor Swift fan....I'd love to see her also....and Lady Antebellum :) |
Air Supply will be at one of the casinos here next month. :)

really? air supply is still kickin'? lol i went as a teenager with a friend. we had great seats. i miss her, my friend. memories.
are they great or what! love'em ... Lady Antebellum. |
Last: Don't know if it counts, but Trans Siberian Orchestra a couple of Christmases ago. This is the group with the strobes, flashing lights, and spotlights set to Christmas music.
It was really well done, but they have warning signs for epileptics and migraine sufferers at the entrance for a reason. It was what the brain must look like during a seizure :(. It's probably not something I need to do again. First: Linda Ronstadt at Blossom Music Center with my brother. He's a lot older than I am, and rather than take a date, he took me (age 12). We had a great time. Best:Chicago and the Beach Boys, Fiddler's Green, Denver. This was post-Dennis Wilson and Terry Kath, but sounded exactly like my childhood memory. It was also a beautiful site. Worst:: without a doubt, Molly Hatchet at some club, Dayton, Ohio. This is a Southern Rock group, very loosely compared with Lynyrd Skynyrd. I like Skynyrd, but the genre itself isn't my favorite-I was with an ex-boyfriend. The club was hot and crowded and I could not see. This is why, if I can be outside for a concert, I much prefer it. So far, my daughter has seen Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift. I was gladly in the parent's room for Justin, but now wish I'd seen Taylor Swift with her (she was with a friend). |

Amendment: The last concert I saw was Melissa Ferrick....twice in fact.... I don't know how I blanked on that.....

concerts.
I too love to go to concerts!!!! Its just about one of my favorite things on the planet. As I have gotten older I have gone to more concerts; its my vice. Its what I splurge on.
Last concert: Madonna on the 1st of this month. It was great!!! Of course, Id have been just as happy if she'd sat on stage and read the St. Louis phone book. I love her so!!! First concert: The New Kids On The Block. Don't hate. Love me some Donnie Wahlberg. Best concert: Lenny Kravitz earlier this year. The Black and White America Tour. So good. Can't even explain. Great seats!!! Worst concert: Probably Hootie and the Blowfish in Sedona, Arizona. I was fighting with my partner and that is what made it so bad. The show was awesome and Sedona is a MUST SEE for those who have never been there!!! Next concert: Hopefully Pink in February 2013!!! Thanks for the interest!!! Happy concert-ing!!! Jules with numbers |
First - The Osmonds when I was in 7th grade
Last - Karla Davis, last fall Worst - David Cassidy also when I was in 7th grade Best - Legacy Fest in Wichita, KS in 2000...simply amazing!!! |
I agree, Sedona is beautiful. Its a favorite vice of mine, too.
OHHH and thank you, I should have added NEXT. :) Next will be Air Supply if I can find someone willing to go. Hell, maybe I will solo it. Quote:

Concerts...
The Last: Lucero
The First: Madonna The Worst: Stevie Nicks The Best: A tie between The Rolling Stones and The Indigo Girls |
The Last: Sugarland... while standing in the wave pool at Mandalay Bay in Vegas
The First: Huey Lewis & the News The Worst: When Mark Chestnutt did his first concert back in our hometown after he made it big. He was so drunk, he forgot words to his songs. Yeah, he got booed off the stage The Best: It is a tie between PINK and Sugarland |
After 287 concerts, this is tough!
The Last: Daughtry on my birthday!
The First: Billy Squier and Nazareth. The Worst: Was actually bored and disappointed in John Mellencamp a few years back. The Best: BonJovi. Rock and freakin' roll. They get better every time, waiting on #9! The second best: Prince, The Purple Rain tour. Waited 28 hours in line for tix to that one! |
Last concert was Air Supply in Sept at the State Fair
First concert was Beach Boys and Chicago opened for them The worst was Lallapalooza in Chicago, it was a cold rainy day, way too long and I took a nap during Ted Nugent. The best would be hard to pin down, I've seen so many. I liked Rod Stewart, Cher, Garth Brooks, The Judds, Wynona by herself, Village People, KC and The Sunshine Band, Blackhawk, Brad Paisley, Hootie and The Blowfish, Barry White, Tim McGraw, Brooks and Dunn, George Strait, Terri Clark, Neal McCoy, Faith Hill, Martina McBride, Keith Urban and my list goes on, but this was off the top of my head. |
Last:
Christian McBride and Inside Straight at the Iron Horse Music Hall at the end of October with Hack. I know he hearts me because he missed the first game of the World Series to take me to that show. *swoon* First: First without parents - Depeche Mode at Saratoga Performing Arts Centre in 1989, the Violator tour. It was pretty awesome. Best: I've seen a LOT of good shows, really really great shows...but hands down the *best* was Bjork at the Royal Opera House in 2002. She was accompanied by the London Symphony Orchestra, Matmos were live DJ/Sound Engineering on stage, Zeena Parkins the electric harpist and a 12 voice choir from Greenland. And amazingly she could have carried the whole opera house with her voice alone, her voice is pristine, so clear and full, its quite amazing. And she wore a now-famous dress created for her by Alexander McQueen that is an ostrich feather skirt and the bodice is covered in 1000s of microscope slides painted red...when she danced she used the dress as a percussion instrument -- you can hear the slides of glass tinkling against one another, it sounds like she's covered in bells. The dress was featured in the recent McQueen retrospective put on by the MET a couple of years ago. I was truly overwhelmed by the show. Watch.. :D Worst: Woodstock 94. For so many reasons..... It was cold. It rained the whole time. I was knee deep in mud for 2.5 days. People were horrible to one another. They were stealing. There were fights. There was violence. There was not a single performance that was good enough to make it worth the hell that it was. *great thread deb_U_taunt. |
First - The Go Gos
Last - Sting Best - Fleet Foxes - such multitalented show men. Worst - Death Cab for Cutie - just stood there and sang. Flat and boring presentation. Next - The Boy and I go to quite a few, but we actually don't have anything scheduled just yet. I'm sure we'll make the Hangout Music Festival in May, but no idea who'll be playing yet. :) |
last concert you attended? Atlanta Symphony Orchestra
the first concert? The Jackson Five the best concert? Elton John and of course, the worst concert? Beastie Boys |
Live music is only second on my list of loves to do behind taking pictures. I love going to a big outdoor concert but I also enjoy a small show at a club just as much. For me...
The Last: The Indigo Girls The First: Grand Funk Railroad Ironically the Best & the Worst were both free shows... The Best: Albert Collins at a street Arts Festival The Worst: Neil Young at a park concert. He was so wasted, he forgot the words, slurred the ones he remembered and fell off of the chair he was sitting on. LoL True story. |
Love love love concerts!
My first was back in the 70's. For My 21st birthday, my mother got me and 3 friends in to see Elvis in Vegas! Needless to say, it was the best concert of my life. My last concert was Cris Williamson, who I would see every year that she was in So Cal. |
The first concert I remember was the U.S. Naval Academy doing the Messiah at Christmas. I was in the seventh grade.
Tomorrow night I'm hearing Shelby Lynn, that country singer. Forgive me if I'm not spelling her name right and I'm too lazy to google it and get it right which I could have done in the time it took to type this excuse. |
So what is the last concert you attended? ----Brandy Carlisle
What was the first concert?---- I was in 8th grade. My Dad got 6 free tickets from a customer of his. It was a jazz concert with several bands and it was very good. I loved jazz ever since then. What was the best concert?----- it's a tie, James Taylor or LADY GAGA ( I know) What was the worst concert?----- Miranda Lambert . She sang okay. I still like her music and before the concert I thought she was a cutie. But after the concert ... not so much. Very redneck ,rough, bordering on trailer park trash in my opinion. And I sensed a bit of homophobia, although she never said anything that couldn't be twisited in a different direction. Just hinted around about it. |
The Last: Jennifer Nettles Private Fundraiser Concert-We got to meet her and had 3rd row tickets. She is awesome
The First: Fleetwood Mac-Slept out overnight to get in line for tickets-Funny thing was Red was working as the ticket manager at the venue. The Best: Carol King- Zoo Amp. She was more than awesome. The VIP winners from the Local Radio stations were on a deck not to far from the stage acting liked they owned the place. They became very loud. She stopped playing her piano turned around and said excuse me but they came to listen to me not you. Before the song was finished the deck was cleared and the VIPS had to go and found a piece of ground to sit on. :-) The Worst: Kiss, they can't sing live worth a flip. Not that they can sing at all but live is worse than recorded. |
I don't go to a lot of concerts as I tend to be disappointed but here's my list: First: Tiffany, while at DisneyWorld Last: can't remember Best: N*sync Worst: a free outdoor rap and gangsta fest....the music was okay, but I definitely lost some hearing that day....and there was a lot of unnecessary fighting |
last concert you attended?
Friday night I got to see Norah Jones. She was amazing and worth putting up with the cold and lack of sleep the next day. This is an actual clip from that concert. the first concert? Styx at the Hollywood Amphitheater in Hollywood, FL. I was 14 and went with my brother in law. I loved them and the concert. the best concert? I am thorn between Natalie Merchant in 1995 or Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill concert. And of course a few of the New World Symphony Orchestra concerts I got to see in South Beach while my then GF played for them. and of course, the worst concert? Madonna's Like a Virgin concert in the Orange Bowl in the 80's. I actually walked out half way through. No natural talent, just a lot of bells and whistles. |
Forgot to mention my worst concert, but, I would have to say that I feel each and every one of them were thrilling, and riveting!
Now, on my bucket list is .....I just have to see the Mother Monster, herself, the anazing, Lady Gaga !!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Best concert...Garth Brooks. I went as a tag-a-long. I had no idea what he sang or who he was. It was amazing, in Los Angeles, no less!
First concert, Rod Stewart and continued for 8 times after that over the years. He did write songs for me, Hot Legs, Blondes Have More Fun, My Heart Can't Tell You No, and of course, Shelly My Love. Some memorable concerts, The Who, Rolling Stones, original Van Halen and Queen with Freddie Mercury. Last concert was Keith Urban, about 5 feet away from him. I'm going to be his next wife..lol Next on my list...Jason Aldean and Carrie Underwood. |
