grumpy people

Grumpy People May Be More Evolved

Being intolerant and short-tempered could be a sign of evolutionary superiority.

Researchers at Harvard gave chimpanzees and bonobos, two species of apes that are among the closest living relatives to humans, a variety of reward-based tasks. Chimpanzees, who can be quite grumpy, especially as they age, consistently outperformed the bonobos, who maintain a childlike playfulness throughout their lives.

Victoria Wobble, the project's leader, believes the chimps' ability to put aside their sociability is one of the reasons they are more intelligent and civilized than their genetically similar great ape cousins. She also thinks the evolutionary development of chimpanzees and bonobos could provide insight into our own species.

As for our buddy Oscar, we're pretty sure the well-known grouch is more intelligent than the average green Muppet, but he clearly loses evolutionary points for his squalid living conditions.

SEE? I have said this for years when people tell me I am grumpy LOL

Fuck grumpyness. Someone make me a coffee.

Just_G 02-02-2010 12:03 PM

Imagine that....I think I am from the bonobos group!! :riding2: However, I have just enough intelligence to get by in my every day life!

I am so very rarely grumpy or in a bad mood! But I am not exactly the sharpest crayon in the box sometimes either! :winky: (I am so just kidding!)

I'm not gonna argue with that. :readfineprint:

labete 02-03-2010 09:34 AM

I'd rather play with the bonobos. :nyahnyah:

Grumpiness is too distracting for me, and keeps me from being able to focus on my work. On the other hand, so does a lot of socializing, and it will lead to me being grumpy when I'm trying to get things done. It doesn't make me smarter; it just makes people more likely to leave me alone and stop distracting me.

MrSunshine 02-03-2010 11:09 AM

I wouldn't really say more evolved as of late, I've just been a real grumpy ole prick.

You have three pups, two kitties, one caulk covered Daddy, a bratboy, a couple dust bunnies who all think you are a genius everyday. If the court at hand doesn't support their Queen :whoop:, come on home! We got your back... front.. sides.. around the middle, along the edges and everything in between... :love1::bedfuck::grindevil:

Loving my grumpy girl with all my heart :rrose::jester::awww:

Sachita 02-03-2010 12:36 PM

See I knew I was superior and the wrong adjective was bitch. lol But I tell people straight out, without hesitation, I am a no nonsense woman. Most of the time I'm ok but if I wake up a little grumpy or bitchy thats just how I roll. I'm evolving. lol

But honestly I think some people are just very complex and compartmentalized. Over time they have learned that its senseless to waste energy on some people, nonconstructive and a useless waste of energy. So they throw up some walls with a sign "Stay the fuck away" or "Enter at your own risk". They are just very selective where they use their energy.

Awesome. So the next time someone calls me grumpy, I'll hand them a printed copy of this post and follow it with a "kissmyassthankyouverymuchgoodbyenow".

If they are worth the energy it takes to hand them the paper, sure.

I don't do much grumpy, it wastes to much energy. Now if I run out of Duke's Mayo I get a little grumpy

Abigail Crabby 02-03-2010 02:05 PM

I don't do grumpy even if I am out of chocolate....

I deal with :mob: all day long - so I know grumpy lol

NJFemmie 02-03-2010 02:09 PM

Truthfully, I'm not grumpy that often - but I do have my days.
(I'm a little cranky today, but that's just because of lack of sleep....)

Meh.

There are some things in life that shouldn't be fucked with...

Buying Kraft Mayo in the industrial tub IS NOT acceptable.

If the grocery is out of Duke's, Hellman's is permitted as an emergency mayo only...

Sheesh... there ARE condiment standards...
