We plan to run out of town, run away from everything and everyone...away from it all and remain in hiding until Cyber Monday blows over.... lolol

nycfem 11-06-2016 04:05 PM

Awesome vegan restaurant with my boo and a mutual friend of ours. Gonna be hella relaxing.

Gemme 11-06-2016 04:13 PM

Since my family is all over the place, I'll be having a quiet day coloring and cooking. I am considering a Cornish hen, mashed potatoes, something healthy and green, jellied cranberry sauce and pie. I want pie this year. Not pumpkin, though. Maybe apple or cherry.

Kätzchen 11-06-2016 04:17 PM

It depends on the weather and work schedules (my mom and youngest brother). We tentatively plan to rendezvous in a central location and spend it with my eldest son, if possible.

If that doesn't come to pass, then most likely I will spend the holiday with close family friends.

MsTinkerbelly 11-06-2016 04:32 PM

This will be the last time having my sister near for Thanksgiving, so we are having it here.

Turkey
Ham
Dressing
Mashed potatoes and gravy
Fresh green beans
Vegetable salad
Olive and pickle tray
Sweet potato casserole
Hot rolls
Pumpkin pie and Carmel cheesecake
Coffee
Soda
Beer and wine

This year there will only be 10 of us... There used to be 30-40, with much laughter and love. I miss them.

Orema 11-06-2016 04:45 PM

I've been invited to a friend's and will enjoy the day watching holiday films and eating a good meal with her family. She enjoys nice wines, so I'll take her a bottle of something she likes. I'm looking forward to it.

easygoingfemme 11-06-2016 04:49 PM

We keep it low key here. Dinner with small immediate family- my parents, my brother and his family. No idea what we'll be having. We usually potluck and I'm usually in charge of veggies so I'll make some sort of fall veggie dishes.

Venus007 11-06-2016 06:23 PM

I am so excited... my best friend is coming to stay for a few days and there will be fun, food, booze, and general lazing about and goofing around.
As to the menu I haven't thought beyond the wine and the turkey

Blade 11-06-2016 08:04 PM

Not sure, would like to ho to Charleston, but dont see that happening

Probably eat with my family

JDeere 11-06-2016 09:02 PM

Don't know and don't really give a shit.

kittygrrl 11-07-2016 02:05 PM

Not sure what we are going to do..i know i'm cooking dinner lol..i tried to suggest to spouse that maybe he could cook Sunday dinner since he has done no cooking since we married (his excuse is I don't like his cooking, NOT!) So I have a bet with him that if Hillary wins he cooks once a week..lol..i can't believe he actually fell for that!!..

Thanksgiving menu is still being developed but it's just comfort food loaded to the max! I will post it once I have an idea..The spouse is definitely in charge of wine and pop..and maybe a special surprise(to me) dessert (we'll see).

No specific plans as yet. Prior years have been sealing up the house with us in it, watching movies, and pretending the rest of the world doesn't exist until some time after the first of the year (except for me going to work).

Always good food at my house. My honey is a fantastic cook.

Jesse 11-07-2016 07:44 PM

I'm thinking roasted quail, a couple of Paleo sides, and baked coconut custard.

Zimmeh 11-07-2016 10:32 PM

I will be working, so I can have Christmas weekend off. I will pick up some desserts to bring in with me.

candy_coated_bitch 11-07-2016 11:12 PM

I'll be having Thanksgiving with my aunt and uncle, cousins, sister, parents, and hopefully my gf. They usually make an effort to have some vegetarian items.

clay 11-08-2016 07:57 AM

This year is going to be something totally new to me......will post after Thanksgiving though. It WILL be an incredibly wonderful time with some really kind, loving folks...I can hardly wait!! to be amidst this beautiful family...:)

My life will be so very blessed & my cup surely will runneth over....:sunglass:

Martina 11-08-2016 09:25 AM

I am making a two week road trip out of it. First a three day drive from Florida to Traverse City, Michigan. Brrrr. Then back down to Ann Arbor for a couple of days. Then over to central Illinois and then town to Texas for the actual holiday. Finally a thirteen hour trip back to Florida.

I could have made a couple more stops in Ohio and Kentucky, but I was afraid the trip would just about kill me. As it is I'll get back just in time to move from one house to another so renters can move into the one I am staying in now and then take off for two weeks to California for Christmas. This is so not like me. And I am not healthy. But I think it will be a good thing. I am looking forward to it. I need a change.

Edited to add: Re food, I have no idea. I am a guest. I will probably provide some wine and beer. Good beer. ;)

pajama 11-12-2016 07:34 PM

I've been invited to a couple of friends, but I'll probably just work in the yard and start putting up outdoor decorations.

kittygrrl 11-17-2016 09:16 AM

Adding a harvest salad, mixed baby greens, diced apple, pear, gorgonzola cheese, roasted butternut squash, toasted pecans, dried cranberries, and cornbread croutons with a Raspberry Vinaigrette j/s

Two days of the year we close the store early. Yes, we are open 365 days of the year. The days we close early are Thanksgiving and Christmas. Usually we are open from 8 AM til 3 PM, but it is always hard to get out the door at closing because of the stragglers. It is always Bevi and I on those 2 days (our employees get a paid break) so we can greet and thank the customers who have supported our business all year long. There may or may not be some special coffee for close friends /customers on those days. When we close up, there are always offers to join others for their holiday feasts but the last 2 years we have found just going home and sitting by the Glenwood was much more relaxing.

Medusa 11-17-2016 12:01 PM

I'm doing something completely different this year than Ive ever done!

Foregoing the insanity of blood family and ran away :)

On Thanksgiving day, I'll be eating turkey and giving LOTS of thanks for all of the good things that have happened this year and for the joy in my life.

~SweetCheeks~ 11-17-2016 02:38 PM

We are cooking dinner here for the first time together and with our family in our new place. Should be fun.

Chad 11-19-2016 12:56 PM

Thanksgiving

Looks like I am cooking a turkey. Ugg.

Mel C. 11-19-2016 01:07 PM

Part of the day will be with family (blood relatives). I'm hoping a good part of the day is also available to work on holiday decorating. I could use a little bright n shiny right about now.

Okay, I am trying to wrap my mind around this. I bought a small turkey, stuffing, green beans, cranberry sauce, and a Sara Lee apple pie. Mom will be here to help me. I am really good at cooking meat so mom will help with the rest.

I will concentrate on all the things that I am thankful for.
I hope all my friends here find something to be thankful for.

Having the essentials for life & living is so much to be thankful for.

My chosen family...I am ever so thankful for.

My friends who are like family are what I am most thankful for.

Being able to get up again another morning is amazing to me.

Okiebug61 11-20-2016 04:12 PM

Red is off all week from school so she has a menu planned that is a awesome. I know we are cooking the Turkey here and then the sides at my aunt Lou's and uncle Bob's house. I have to work Friday and Saturday so no long weekend for me. However I am so looking forward to the wonderful meal and fun time with my family. I am sure we will have others show up that need a place to hang out which always makes the day even better.

Love my family.

Peace!

NitroChrys_Butch 11-20-2016 09:10 PM

Spending the day at My parents and with My wonderful family ...we are up to 36 now..... My mother insist on making 98% of the food... the rest of us pitch in with snack-y things... desserts and salads for later when someone feels the urge to make a sandwich.... football and family ... doesn't get much better ...

Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving to everyone...

dark_crystal 11-21-2016 08:47 AM

We are having my parents over, and any friends without other plans.

I'm on the phone with Luby's

*Anya* 11-21-2016 09:07 AM

I have been thinking about how inward I have been for quite a while.

Depression can do that to you.

My LA daughter is having dinner with her dad and his third family. My other daughter is on the other side of the country with her family.

My mom is having dinner with my brothers and their families.

Boo hoo for me.

I am volunteering for a local soup kitchen that serves people that get their one hot meal a day.

No heroics, just time to look outside myself to people that are really suffering in this world.

For me, homelessness would be the worst. So many people in this country are.

I am fortunate.

Happy Thanksgiving.

starryeyes 11-21-2016 09:58 AM

Doing dinner with my family, and then taking the dogs in our RV to go camping on the Colorado River for a few days :)

TL1 11-21-2016 12:05 PM

Going to have dinner with family and some friends who may make an appearance. They have a tendency to break out games also. Both indoors and out. (Depending on weather)
