Where do you like to go on dates?

I have certain activities I love to do with a partner or romantic friend

I love pic nics - hamstead Heath at the women's pond to swim in our underwear, or skinny dipping at the local lake here. Or finding a meadow in one of the many parks and people watching with a proper pic nic on the grass with drinks, cheeses, meats, fish etc. Wearing a good Sunday outfit, relaxing and lounging.

Going to science, natural history, anthropology or art museums and galleries. I love going to a lecture at them about something recently discovered or just sitting under a butterfly case and chatting about our mutual childhood homes or when we discovered we had a crush on someone for the first time.

B flick theatres for a monster movie or a sci fi matinee. Going out for sushi after or a burger and beer.

A bed picnic in my bed. Spending the afternoon reading to each other, talking lots, sex and making tea.

Strolling the shops on antique row - looking at wacky furniture, weird shops with bizarre gifts, novelty items, not buying anything, just sitting on shop furniture and having a chat or playing wth toys in the shops

Granville island market - picking out foods neither ne of us have tried and trying them, going to the pub for a beer and fish and chips, going to the children's massive store and buying some cheap toys and playing with them on the grass by the sea

Cooking with each other, to make fabulous meal - maybe take it to a beach or to eat while watching an outdoor film they do in the summer in the city with the film on the side of a building while you sit in the park

Go digging for fossils at a local fossil bed.

Go to the railway pub for a science story night, or to a pub quiz.

Get a cheap $25 each sale ticket to fly to another city for an over night exploration of their food, music, museums and scenery.

How about you? What are your favourite places and things to do on a date - either with a partner you love or someone you enjoy and getting to know?

Depends on the time of day, if it's an early day date picnic somewhere along the way of back road drives
Evening I will make dinner reservations at a spot that my date enjoys followed by a movie or jazz club

Sometimes the best dates go unplanned...

I love going on drives. Can be back roads or city streets. There usually is no outside interference. No phone calls, texts, unfriendly customer service , etc.

The sights spark conversations. You sing along to the music. Quality time. Hand holding, blushing.

And, Sometimes, a meal at an unfamiliar place turns into something special.

The entire time turns into a special one of a kind experience.

- A low-lit restaurant

- Coffee shops that serve food and are kind of off the grid

- Balcony dates are also the best. We can help prepare a meal together then enjoy wine, food, and the sunset with one another

- Surprise trip dates to another city...after we know one another well enough that I know you aren't kidnapping me :|

While I do occasionally love getting dressed up to go out for dinner and drinks, I typically most enjoy dates that are inexpensive.

Going for long drives and discovering towns or hole-in-the-wall places that are new to both of us. Maybe even getting lost at some point along the way.

A trip to the farmer’s market for dinner fixings and then back to someone’s house for wine and conversation while we cook together.

Packing a lunch and grabbing the fishing poles for a day of fishing at the reservoir.

Bringing a camera to take pictures while we explore local historical places and/or cemeteries together.

Museums, outdoor concerts, festivals.

Last night I had one of the loveliest dates that I’ve had in a while. My date and I packed some blankets and snacks and went to see America’s oldest Singing Christmas Tree. We found a secluded place away from the crowd to lay our blanket in the grass. The only light came from the tree, and the music was just beautiful. It was chilly, so we had an excellent excuse to snuggle up together. Totally my cup of tea.

I don't care too much for visiting museums or libraries or visiting historical sites. I don't actually consider places like these as date-type kinds of activities.

Some of the most memorable dates I have been on, included: Riding horses on the beach, staying in a remote location near the beach or up in the mountains and cooking food together, spending time together away from the busy clamor of ordinary life.

I really like putting together a little basket of food to eat and getting stuff to drink that my former dates have enjoyed.

For what it's worth, I date only people I've come to know in up close and personal ways (locally).

Oh, and taking in concerts or visiting local art galleries or local vintage/antique shops are definitely some favorite activities I like for dating encounters of a lovely kind.

Fair enough. Most people don't. I have trouble finding people who find sharing that romantic. I'm a brain based person so sharing learning to me is very intimate and will only do with people I'm very serious about. ;)

Most people like remote romantic beaches, candle lit baths and walks in the moonlight. I'm a bit "meh" about those things.

That's why romance really is very individual! :D

I enjoy visiting museums, particularly natural history museums, because I've been studying nature all of my life, and I'm always up for learning something new. I also enjoy seeing films or checking out an art opening, I like meeting authors and listening to them read their work. I like to be outdoors, I love a stroll through a park or in the woods; better yet, I enjoy hunting for fossils, and find it most satisfying to find a better specimen of one I already have or a new one to add to my collection. My prize find was a paleo point, while it wasn't a fossil, it was found while hunting for them. Photography has been a hobby of mine since my mom gave me her old brownie.

These are all things I do on my own, and to share any of things with someone, as a date, would be very special for me. I would probably have a huge smile on my face, the entire time.

Well IF Santa brings me the 3 things I asked for, I'd love to take a date to Chicago and show them the town! It's very romantic this time of year!

When my wife and I first dated.......

We took the kid and went camping and fishing
We went out and danced all night in West Hollywood
Saw the movie Frida (my first non- mainstream movie)
Went to the Beverly Wilshire hotel and after private time, sat on the balcony and read poetry for hours
Went to a movie premier twice (she worked at Newline Cinema then)
Flew to Scotsdale, stayed at a beautiful resort and then went to the zoo.
Went to the Indian Reservation near Palm Springs, and then had dinner at a casino where I taught her to play blackjack.

Funny, we only dated 2-3 months before I moved in with her...we did a lot!!

I suppose we'll have to set more dates now that i moved to Sacto last week,my winter job.She came with me and bought new stuff for my apartment..looks all Christmassy. We went and saw the Christmas tree lighting at the state capital and she kept trying to slap me because I was doing my best to get on the evening news..don't ask *snort*

I'm a night person so most of our dating is done dining out, catching a movie, having coffee at an all nighter...sometimes I late night hunt and four-wheeling it through the fresh mountain snow and building an outdoor fire and drinking hot cocoa is my idea date with or without someone by my side.

Yeah,we have done mostly everything together that others have posted...i don't enjoy zoo's for some reason *shrugs*

I still love going to gay bars and dancing, seeing new faces...going for late night swims..i also like visting ghost towns and old cemeteries...making love on a tombstone..but of course that would be after we had a few drinks.

It's tough to go on a date when you have a small child.

Our dates usually consist of going to the dance club or to a quiet dinner, just to talk. We did have a walk on the beach once, which was nice till you step on seaweed!

Chad 07-04-2016 07:57 AM

Date

It depends on the date's interests. If it is up to me I like to go for a nice dinner and out to a live performance like a play, symphony, opera, or even the ballet.

If it is not too hot I like a picnic in the park and a boat ride.

I like taking a date for a long ride to see a pretty park or landscape.

I love museums and art galleries so those would be great date spots.

Zimmeh 07-04-2016 11:49 AM

I love going to the movies, miniature golf or just sitting at home.

dark_crystal 07-04-2016 04:30 PM

Dinner and a movie, or drinks and conversation. Dancing, concerts, lectures, museums.

Nothing athletic or outdoors.

Most of the time, don't bring your mom or your ex, but sometimes you can.

Glenn 07-05-2016 09:34 AM

There's nothing like an exciting first date to get to know each other better. Here are a few suggestions :|
Ghost hunting
Race Tracks
Casinos
Wade in a huge wave park, and go down the big slide together.
Horse Back Riding on hilly or mountainous terrain
Sky Diving
Bob-Sledding

easygoingfemme 07-05-2016 10:03 AM

Small town exploring- hand holding strolling window shopping.
Mini golf/bowling/ type easy activities for chatting and playing
Warm but not too warm days: a hike, paddle boating, bike riding, drive in movie theater, a picnic.
Winter time: Staying inside with a good board or card game, a drive to look at christmas lights, cooking together, snow tubing.
Always, but not always good "first dates" (cause you can't really talk like I like to) Theater, live plays, movies, live music...

Sweet Bliss 07-05-2016 10:09 AM

Right now I would enjoy a movie in an ice cold theater with giant tub of buttered popcorn, giant diet soda, and a friend.

flapdoodle 07-05-2016 11:30 AM

dancing, a lot can be said for how one moves
