So I read that turnout among Republicans in early voting has been very high. I don't know what I'll do if the Dems don't take the House. I am not sure I can guarantee my continued sanity.

Barack Obama: Live on CBSN out in Wisconsin (Oct 26th 2018)

The live broadcast on CBS just ended, but what an powerful call to VOTE!

So much at stake out in Wisconsin, as is in every single state of the US.

I did early in person voting today. I always vote in person and usually on actual election day. It's a ritual or a tradition. I do not trust mail in ballots anyway.

But I got a robocall which mentioned early voting. I googled to find out where and headed out.

It felt good to do something after such a horrible hate-filled week. I truly believe Trump's racism gives these people confidence to act.

I hope folk in the USA won't mind me posting a link to today's XKCD webcomic, which is relevant: https://xkcd.com/2067/

(For those that aren't aware, the creator of XKCD, Randall Munroe, is an awesomely intelligent person with a great (and eclectic) sense of humour - and a great sense of social responsibility. Because some of his cartoons contain stuff that's obscure, fans created "Explain XKCD" - todays can be found here: https://www.explainxkcd.com/wiki/ind...7:_Challengers)

I love early voting! Walked in, helped right away, voted and out in about 7 minutes.

I don't live in TX, so I can't vote for him. I love this!

Texas f'ing blows when it come to anything but in person voting. I've friends all over the country who vote early and/or by mail. Texans can't vote by mail unless one of the following applies...
  • be 65 years or older;
  • be disabled;
  • be out of the county on election day and during the period for early voting by personal appearance; or
  • be confined in jail, but otherwise eligible.

Oh yeah... Beto's killin' it! I've never seen anyone work so hard to get elected! Dude's been going nonstop for days... weeks... months!

Rene and I walked with Rollie the Big Dog today to deliver our completed and sealed voter ballots to our neighborhood polling place.

Thinking of wearing my I Voted sticker to work on Monday.

girl_dee 11-03-2018 06:28 AM

Voted!!!!!!!!!

JDeere 11-03-2018 10:47 AM

I voted.

Just had to be super careful since the news story about the voting deals changing votes if you vote a straight ticket.

I do mine individually.

Down to the wire and we have been phone banking and canvassing here like crazy. Below is a link that some may find interesting that keeps the poll information up to date. Some of these are neck and neck. Get out and vote!!

Yes and that is why some people opt to vote by absentee. I wish we had voting days off from work. At least 1/2 day off to vote would be show how important it is.

I am so glad to see lots of people voting!

I had an unexpected day off today so after I voted this morning I headed over to the campaign headquarters for a really good Dem candidate who is vying to unseat a really bad Republican incumbent in the NY State Senate. I was impressed with the diversity of the HUGE volunteer army filing in and out of his headquarters. I phone banked a bit, but DAMN this bronchitis is pernicious. It was all I could do to keep from hacking up a lung. I didn't want to try canvassing in the rain, either. I made myself useful driving people around instead. It was awesome. I'm reasonably certain the post-election gathering I opted not to attend will turn into a victory party any minute now, but my energy was flagging and I've had more than my fill of humans for the day. I'm getting cozy at home and watching the newsfeed.

We should make it easier, but unless you are truly sick or out of town, I can't imagine why you'd risk it. 75000 votes invalidated in Florida, and the Senate race may come down to the difference of a few thousand. I think it's a massive mistake to vote absentee. It allows another person to lay hands on your ballot.

I feel the same way. At this point we're so polarized that I suspect too many election officials would play games with my vote and not think twice about it.
