Cigar and Pipe Lounge
 

For those that enjoy the occassional cigar and/or pipe, share finds and ask questions. :)

Hiya Linus! Funny meeting you here. :p

I shop online at Famous Smoke Shop (1-800-672-5544) for some stoagies. I also go to a cigar shop in Delaware because of the tax issues Maryland has or is having now.

Cigars I enjoy smoking are mild to medium strength. Some of my favorites are Avo, Baccarat, Creme de Jamaca, Davidoff, Fuente, Georges Reserve, Griffins, H. Uppmann, Henry Clay, Macanudo, Makers Mark, Nub, Olor, Pardon, R. Gonzalez, Romeo & Juliette, Tatiana, and VSG.

Tins I smoke are A.Fuente Cubanitos, Avo Puritos, CAO (any), Macanudo Ascots, and Baccarat Connies every now and then. I am not a huge fan of the Connies.

The one thing that I do smoke is the Davidoff cigarettes with a filter (the plastic ones you can buy 100 filters for $4. I eventually want to buy a cigarette case to go with these.

I do have a leather cigar case from Rosie for my 40th birthday. I also got a beautiful humidor that holds a couple hundred cigars. Rosie had a brass name plate engraved with my name on it for me.

As for cutters, I have a couple. I love the one called Xikar. I also have sissors, and a Havana punch cutter. For me, I use the Xikar the most.

Lighters...I use basically matches, bics, or Zippos. This past summer, Rosie purchased a beautiful gold type of lighter from Greece for me at a local school arts and crafts show. It was only $4. I looked it up online and about fell over. It was listed at $30. I couldn't believe it. I love that lighter because it has a nice weight to it. Now, I would like to get a table top lighter/burner. Linus when you were with me at Cross Street Tobacco Store the silver one is the one I am talking about. It was $40 by Alec Bradley - sweet. Now that is the bomb of all lighters if you ask me.

I can just talk stoagies all day long. It is a hobby for me as well. ;)

I have to agree about Xikar. I have a cutter and a punch by them (I use the punch most often). I also use, when at home, a Blazer lighter (as some of the younger FTMs in my support group called it, my "crack" lighter).

I have a huge list of cigars I like and only a few I don't like. I run my own cigar blog (http://www.cigarnewbie.com). I know that not everyone likes cigars and such but I have found that a good cigar, a nice drink (cold water and/or whiskey/scotch/bourbon) and a beautiful woman (not necessarily in that order) is a great way to wind down the day.

I agree with you. Nothing beats a good cigar, a good whiskey or some other kind of drink, and a beautiful woman. Heaven pure and simple.

Hrm.. so has anyone ordered from Tex Cigars? They are offering to sponsor my cigar blog and I know of them but have never ordered from them. They want to send me cigars to review and mention them. Works for me. :)

You have heard that the FDA has banned flavoured cigarettes, which may include those nice little cigarillos? :badmood:

I am so tired of the Fed. Gov't wanting to regulate everything. It seems socialist to me. If they want to meddle in something they need to tackle our healthcare system first, instead of sticking their nose in the smokers world. It just seems to me that they want to be in everything. I just see our rights as smokers becoming less and less. And the cigar makers being restricked more and more. :cigar: :censor: :deadhorse: :pipe:

I never heard of Tex Cigars. Heck, free cigars are wonderful. Take 'em up on it! What can it hurt?

Now, I smoke a pipe as well. I have been looking for a tobacco called Holiday. It only comes out in Nov/Dec. Has anyone else smoked this before? It is really a mild, sweet smoke for the holidays.:smileyXmasTree::cigar::pipe:

I've contemplated a pipe (my grandfather smoked one until he passed at age 77). I never realized how many varieties of pipes are out there. I have to admit being interested in the Churchwarden version (strikes me as a thoughtful, relaxing pipe).

What kind of pipe do you have?

I have a Dr. Grabow - Duke(?). Plus I have one from my Grandfather, but I have no idea of what it is. It is so incredibly old. I think it is well over 50 years old. The stem is cracked, and the bowl part is coming apart. I just hate to throw it out, and have superglued it back together, but am terrified to smoke it thinking I will explode the pipe itself. I was just looking at it last night. I think I am going to toss it out, but in due time.

Cross Street had some nice pipes, and the place I go to in DE has some too. :motorbike:

I'll have to see that I get the same hotel (it had smoking rooms) when I go to Toronto and if you'll have time to join me. :)

Nice thing about Canada: Cuban cigars.

Bad thing about Canada: super high tax on said cigars. :P

I am hoping that Cuba opens up, and becomes the next Vegas. Can you imagine what all of our humidors will look like then?! WooHoo! :drool:

I sent Linus to a website called Nine West (I think that was it) for smoking jackets, and robes. Plus they sell club shirts to match the robes and jackets. Just a neat shop. Check it out.

I live in Canada so, when I can afford it, my humidor looks pretty good!
Some of my friends were in Cuba recently - lucky dogs! Although - they're not really into cigars. *sigh*

I would love to go to Cuba one day. I want to go to a cigar factory, and see how they produce the cigars in mass quantity from start to finish. And then to be able to buy them, smoke 'em, and bring a few boxes home. :trampoline:

You know, you can do cigar factory tours in DR and other South American places. And I think there's one (the last one) still in Florida.
