Music ft. Strings

Do you like and enjoy music featuring stringed instruments?
Do you favor classical music or do you like alternative arrangements spanning across all types of genres?

Feel free to post music you enjoy in this forum thread that features stringed instruments! :stillheart:

My opening post will feature music by artists (or groups) that brings pleasure to my ears, such as:

Radio Head (House of Cards)

Patti Griffin (Rain)

Iron & Wine (Fever Dream)

Ballake Sissoko & Vincent Segal (Chamber music)

Ray LaMontagne (Be Here Now)

Lady Gaga had 2 stringed instruments on stage when she opened her concert (a harp, and violen). It was sooo cool. Foreward thinking if you ask me.

String Quartets

I have developed an appreciation and deep love for strings:
My mother plays the violin and I have several friends who play
stringed instruments (I play the piano and want to take up
a serious interest in the guitar, later this summer...)

Dos Gardenias

Schubert ~~> Death and the Maiden (Quartet in D Minor)

Vivaldi ~~> Concerto for 2 Violins in A Minor

Beethoven ~~> String Quartet in C Minor

The Vitamin Quartet ~~> Slow Like Honey (Fiona Apple)

This made me cry...16 violins used by Jewish Holocaust victims were restored and played together in a concert in Jerusalem in 2008...

Quite possibly the most innovative & brilliant young composer in America; and an incredibly talented violinist.

His music mixes up hip-hop, classical, electronic, spoken word, improvisation...
If you ever have the opportunity to see him, don't miss it.

Daniel Bernard Roumain (DBR)

Great thread! Will listen more and post some favs after this weekend. It's concert weekend for me so mega rehearsals etc. Singing Brahms requiem Sunday night with philly orchestra playing for us. This mornings rehearsal was wonderful! My favorite stringed instrument is the cello... what a lovely hopeful sound.

The tail of my 'star' is burning White-Hot-Blue across the skies...

*Goodness sakes!*

Many of you might like and enjoy music by The Corrs and there's a backstory (or rather, more like a story-within-a-story) about that, but I'll save it for another place in time...

The no. 13 is magical (and my 'lucky' number :cheesy:)
and I am always amazed when I see connections as I map
progress, daily, moment by moment at times, in my life.

That's all I have for the moment right now because I'm private like that;
however it's a consistent lesson (measurement, if you will) in my world that I remain open - let my arms be wide open - so I can fly and leave traces of my essence as I soar across the skies of life...

Here's to my love of String Theory, Stars, the No. 13 & Bonds that Tie:

CST 503: Creative License (String Theory)

What beautiful selections people are leaving for this forum thread!

SoOOoOoOoo,
I'm leaving this video tonight because it is a part of my teaching matrix in COM LAW - Creative License: What an interesting communications course this class has been to me during my final semester in graduate school. This song (and historical issues attendant to it) is one of many examples I have built into my presentation for Monday night's class - the last time our class meets.

I'll catch up with you all soon
and look forward to listening to more
great examples of Music ft. Strings!
