About Sinclair Sexsmith Sinclair Sexsmith enjoys whiskey, topping, the serial comma, political activism, and has been known to get on her knees in order to fix the strappy sandals of a queer femme. Mr. Sexsmith’s online writing and photography projects such as Queer Eye Candy and Top Hot Butches explore queer sexuality, gender theory, butch/femme identity, and interpersonal relationships. She was named 2008’s #1 Top Sex Blogger for Sugarbutch Chronicles: The Sex, Gender, and Relationship Adventures of a Kinky Queer Butch Top at sugarbutch.net,and received both the Best Lesbian Gender Bender Blog and the Best Lesbian Sex/Erotica Blog awards from The Lesbian Lifestyle in 2009. Her writing can be found in various anthologies, including the Best Lesbian Erotica series and in Visible: A Femmethology volume two. Ride in the NYC Pride March
All motorcycles and all genders are welcome to join the NYC Sirens Women's MC leading the NYC Pride March down 5th Av. on Sunday June 27th. As always, the march kicks off at 12:00 noon.

We need Marshals
You can help lead the New York City LGBT Pride March. Be a marshal and walk with the motorcycles that lead the march down 5th Avenue on Sunday, April 27th.
The Sirens Women’s Motorcycle Club has been leading the motorcycles at the front of the New York City LGBT Pride March every year since 1987. We’re expecting a record number of motorcycles from all over the country this year so we will need fifteen to twenty marshals to make it all work. Please arrive at 41st St. between 5th and Madison Avenues by 10:30 A.M. You may be called upon to: *Walk along with the motorcycles *Keep viewers out of the path of the bikes *Assist anyone whose bike stalls *Pass out water from the support van to thirsty bikers *Assist communication from the front of the march to the back of the bikes *Take turns carrying the Sirens banner *Join the festivities at our end-of-march celebration To volunteer please email the Sirens at SirensNYC@hotmail.com and put 'Pride Marshal' in the subject line. |

Lesbian Sex Mafia will be represented - if you want to meet up with us we'll be at the Lion on the left in front of the library. We'll be wearing lsm t-shirts and we have a banner so you should be able to spot us. March starts at 5pm, but I'll be at the lion by around 4:30. About the March: The Dyke March is a protest march, not a parade -- we don't ask for a permit, because we have the right to protest. We recognize that we must organize amongst ourselves to fight for our rights, our safety, and for visibility. Thousands of dykes take over the streets every year in celebration of LBTQ women and to protest against ongoing discrimination, harassment, and anti-LBTQ violence in schools, on the job, in our families, and on the streets. In Austin, Texas, in 2002, a group of artists, activists, and academics led by performance studies scholar Omi Osun Joni L. Jones formed the Austin Project (tAP), which meets annually in order to provide a space for women of color and their allies to build relationships based on trust, creativity, and commitment to social justice by working together to write and perform work in the jazz aesthetic. Inspired by this experience, this book is both an anthology of new writing and a sourcebook for those who would like to use creative writing and performance to energize their artistic, scholarly, and activist practices. Theoretical and historical essays by Omi Osun Joni L. Jones describe and define the African American tradition of art-making known as the jazz aesthetic, and explain how her own work in this tradition inspired her to start tAP. |

Economic violence causes us to struggle to feed our families. Sexual violence in our homes and on our streets causes us to feel shame. Political violence silences the power of our voices to make decisions in society. Military violence divides nations of women who want peace. We say no more! We want respect, equity, compassion, peace, security and healing for ourselves, our children, our communities and our world. Wall Street is violence against women. Corporations get nearly 70% of their profit from women workers who earn $2 a day. In the U.S., women make as low as $0.52 for every dollar a man makes. Women of color are 70% of the global poor. More than 15 million of our children live in poverty in the U.S., the richest nation in the world. Women remain strong! We raise our voices to promote a fair and just economic system! Women’s bodies & voices are under attack. Individuals disrespect our bodies with street harassment, rape, and other forms of physical & sexual violence. 1 in 6 American women has been a victim of attempted or completed rape. The courts, cops and lawyers continue to blame us for this violence. Media corporations make billions with music and films that disgrace our bodies, minds and spirits. And now, state governments in the U.S. have created restrictions on voting which shut out the voices of women of color at the polls. Women remain strong! The panelists will be Laura's friend Felix Cavaliere (who coproduced Christmas and the Beads of Sweat), Herb Bernstein (arranger of More Than a New Discovery, her first album), and Sheila Weller (author of Girls Like Us). Michele is, if you didn't already know, the author of the Nyro bio Soul Picnic: The Music and Passion of Laura Nyro.
