Butch label disappearing?

Do you think the "butch" identity/label is disappearing?

I haven't seen a lot of younger people identifying as "butch", for whatever reason. Do you think that since we have all these new identities that labels like butch are being forgotten?

I've been looking around on the internet, and I seem to be finding a lot of older people 30/40+ use the identity, but very few under 30. There still are a few younger people who do, but it's 1-2 people out of 50, and that's pushing it I find.

From what I've heard … from femmes on the West Coast... specifically the PNW area... they answer to that question is a resounding … yup!

Yes yes and yes

So my GP doctor has me under gender neutral in my record. When I saw that I did a double take. That has never come up in my conversations with her! Me being gender neutral so I have no clue how that got there. But I do see that used a lot in the younger generation.

I do think it's disappearing ~ maybe the youth find the ID confining. >Till their btwn. the sheets ~ no peeking lolol they hide .Sometimes the masculine & femme can be scarey . not moi ~I was born a femme .

When all is said and done, there does and will continue to exist
Butch/femme...the masculine woman and the femme woman.
No matter what labels are concocted the Yang & the yin
will continue, it is all about energy...so, no matter how many
attempt to erase us, the Butches, non gender conforming woman
will continue, period.

And, by the way, have you heard of the concept of supply and demand?
So, go ahead and believe that femmes will seek other than Butch women,
you just go ahead and think that...smiling.

Yes, Butches are still and will always be here. We all stand on the
shoulders of our ancestors an African saying goes, and so do we,
and so do I, and so do you.

ps addressing only this so called erasing/disappearing
of butch women strange belief.

i do think butches will always be here, thank goodness. It’s the label as well as femme that is fading.

Young couples that are clearly what we call Butch-femme do not ID as such.

Let's give it say 10, 15 years...in the mean time I and my
friends, and our femmes/femme subs will continue to proudly
call ourselves what the energy already describes...Butch and femme.

Greco...no need to pound that into the ground.

I have not been one to assign myself to a label nor to my partner. In return, my partner was not one to assign a label either.

The ingredients between the two of us were personal. Our *soup* was unique in that we shared our ingredients together with no labels.

Be it a butch label or any other label that is fading and/or lost: our own personal ingredients can be a *label* that we are unique and appealing.

A label is not relative nor required.

Labels

While many of the Gen X, Millennials, Xennials (Gen Y), and the upcoming Gen Z (iGen), etc. may claim gender neutrality, I think that as long as identification continues, there will be a butch/femme dynamic happening in one way or another - whether overt or hidden and undeclared.
