Can you prevent a thread from showing up in your 'Recent Threads' section?

I know that you can add a user to your 'Ignore List' and this prevents their posts from being visible within a thread, and that hitting 'Ignore This Thread' under 'Thread Tools' makes the thread invisible in the forum that the thread is located, but is it possible to prevent that same thread from showing up in the 'Recent Threads' section? Thank you in advance.

i am having a similar issue and every time i reply to a thread it adds that thread to my subscribed threads i never noticed it doing that before is this a new feature? has it always done this? i am clicking "unsubscribe" when i see a new one pop up

i am not very technical so maybe there is a way i am accidentally doing this?

anyone have any insight please let me know

thanks!

I don't think so, but I'm not particularly savvy about that stuff.

It's always been that way.

It's how I've wound up with over 3000 subscribed threads and have to cull it down every few months. I actually like the feature, though.

You can … to a certain degree. Go up to the top of the thread you don't want to see, click THREAD TOOLS and then select IGNORE THIS THREAD.

I believe this keeps it from showing up when you go to the HOME PAGE and click NEW POSTS. But... may still see it in the center HOME PAGE where it shows RECENT THREADS.

You can change the setting under USER CP … to some degree. Sorry, I don't recall the specific options but I believe there's one that basically tells the forum to... SUBSCRIBE ME TO ANY THREAD I COMMENT ON. And then there's another option to send you an email anytime there's a comment to that thread. Take a gander in that area of your USER CONTROL PANEL. :)

If you don't want to automatically be subscribed to threads there is an option for that.

Go to User CP, then Edit Options (under Settings and Options on left hand side of page). The third box down is called "Default Thread Subscribe Mode." Use the drop down box and choose "Do Not Subscribe." Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click "Save Changes."

I have mine set this way and then I just manually subscribe to the few threads that I want notifications for.
