My daughter is moving home to live with me tomorrow...she's been in Michigan. I'm beside myself with joy! So....of COURSE the Austin crew is meeting up at a local Hamburgery to welcome her here Tuesday night, and for the festivities, I have written her a poem (of sorts).....

you sit in the barbershop long enough--you're gonna get your haircut. --sam's dad to sam when sam was 17 and already having a hard time staying away from the booze, women and the law. i believe he's mostly straightened out since HS, he's got a wife now and 3 kids. sam's mom, on the other hand, was less direct--when the cops came to the door one morning at 3 am to report that they'd found the remains of sam's truck that he'd set fire to (intentionally) earlier that evening, she was said to have explain to the the policemen, 'it's not sam, it's the alcohol!' |

I'd say I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I'm not. I excel at not giving a shit. Experience has taught me that interest begets expectation, and expectation beget disappointment, so the key to avoiding disappointment is to avoid interest. A equals B equals C Equals A, or whatever. I also don't have a lot of interest in being a good person or a bad person. From what I can tell, either way, you're screwed. Bad people are punished by society's laws, and good people are punished by Murphy's Law. So you see my dilemma.
