~ Robert Fulghum |

Looking through one of My cross-stitch books this morning, I found all kinds of little sayings and quotes that resonated with Me alot today and wanted to share some of them with all of you:
~ It is not how much we have but how much we ENJOY that makes happiness ~ A mother holds her children's hands for awhile, but their hearts forever ~ Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless ~ My idea of housework is to sweep the room with a glance ~ Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for awhile and leave footprints in our hearts, and we are never the same ~ Everyone is kneaded out of the same dough, but not baked in the same oven ~ The only difference between a good day and a bad day is your attitude ~ We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give ~ We can't direct the wind, but we can adjust our sails ~ The tragedy of life is not that it ends so soon, but that we wait so long to begin it* ~ The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is the little extra ~ Contentment isn't getting what we want, but being satisfied with what we have* ~ Whether you think you can or you think you can't, your right* ~ If you don't learn from your mistakes, there's no sense in making them ~ Do not follow where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail ~ The most wasted day of all is that in which we have not laughed** |

Women wish to be loved not because they are pretty, or good, or well bred, or graceful, or intelligent, but because they are themselves.

The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee The lake, it is said, never gives up her dead When the skies of November turn gloomy. With a load of iron ore - 26,000 tons more Than the Edmund Fitzgerald weighed empty That good ship and true was a bone to be chewed When the gales of November came early The ship was the pride of the American side Coming back from some mill in Wisconsin As the big freighters go it was bigger than most With a crew and the Captain well seasoned. Concluding some terms with a couple of steel firms When they left fully loaded for Cleveland And later that night when the ships bell rang Could it be the North Wind they'd been feeling. The wind in the wires made a tattletale sound And a wave broke over the railing And every man knew, as the Captain did, too, T'was the witch of November come stealing. The dawn came late and the breakfast had to wait When the gales of November came slashing When afternoon came it was freezing rain In the face of a hurricane West Wind When supper time came the old cook came on deck Saying fellows it's too rough to feed ya At 7PM a main hatchway caved in He said fellas it's been good to know ya. The Captain wired in he had water coming in And the good ship and crew was in peril And later that night when his lights went out of sight Came the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. Does anyone know where the love of God goes When the waves turn the minutes to hours The searchers all say they'd have made Whitefish Bay If they'd put fifteen more miles behind her. They might have split up or they might have capsized They may have broke deep and took water And all that remains is the faces and the names Of the wives and the sons and the daughters. Lake Huron rolls, Superior sings In the ruins of her ice water mansion Old Michigan steams like a young man's dreams, The islands and bays are for sportsmen. And farther below Lake Ontario Takes in what Lake Erie can send her And the iron boats go as the mariners all know With the gales of November remembered. In a musty old hall in Detroit they prayed In the Maritime Sailors' Cathedral The church bell chimed, 'til it rang 29 times For each man on the Edmund Fitzgerald. The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee Superior, they say, never gives up her dead When the gales of November come early. Life needs mystery or else everything else flattens into a routine
so familiar you wonder if you will ever get out of the rut. We need the sweet pain of anticipation to tell us we are really alive. Dave Kindred |
We are so often caught up in our destination that we forget
to appreciate the journey, especially the goodness of the people we meet on the way. Appreciation is a wonderful feeling; don't overlook it. unattributed |
"How far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving, and tolerant of the weak and strong. Because someday in your life you will have been all of these."
|
"If a man insisted always on being serious, and never allowed himself a bit of fun and relaxation, he would go mad or become unstable without knowing it."

The other day a man asked me what I thought was the best time of life. "Why," I answered without a thought, "now." ~David Grayson
