I don’t usually enjoy the process of writing haiku. I’m someone who’d find it tight having to wish somebody a good day using only twenty-five words. Consequently haiku feels too restrictive. I can’t express myself. There’s no room to maneuver. I imagine that’s the idea, yet the limits feel excessive for me. Claustrophobic even. But it’s just the thing to teach me to be succinct. I need to learn to speak in tight neat packages of brevity. So I figured I’d write a haiku about that.
What can I say when words are so tightly wrapped there’s no space for a sigh |
Its brilliance blinded Butterflies teased my insides Because...defense breached |
Spring in Atlanta:
Love and pollen in the air, A gush of plant sperm. |
Talking could be bad Mercury in retrograde Silence equals peace? |
Brisk, long, scenic walk Now home with a tired dog Just in time, rain starts |
Red wine, just one glass Swirled around, bursting on tongue Senses now heightened |
He looked like a mop Little suds, snips, cookie treat Now looks like a dog |
