Stuck Song

1. What do you do when there is a song stuck?

2. Which songs get stuck for you?

3. Why do you think they won't leave?????

These are the things which plague my mind.. :detective: ..there now you know....lol

wolfbittenpoet 10-16-2010 09:28 AM

I pass it on because I am evil like that. Particularly since songs in my head are either obscure folk songs or It's A Small World.

:overreaction:That's one of THOSE songs for me, Wolfbitten!:overreaction:

I like to play "Telephone Man" because it will override almost anything.

Anyone ever have the problem where the two songs play in your head?

I went to my apartment on a Monday at one
A-singin' do lolly, lolly shicky bum, shicky bum
Started movin' in it on a Tuesday at two
A-singin' do lolly, lolly shicky do, shicky do
Wednesday at three I called the phone company, singin':
"Hey baby, put a phone in for me"
Thursday at four he came a-knockin' at my door, singin':

"Hey, baby, I'm your telephone man
You just show me where you want it and I'll put it where I can
I can put it in the bedroom, I can put it in the hall
I can put it in the bathroom, I can hang it on the wall
You can have it with a buzz, you can have it with a ring
And if you really want it you can have a ding-a-ling
Because-a hey baby, I'm your telephone man"

Can you believe that? And then he says:

"Now when other fellas call ya tell 'em how it all began"

Well...can you imagine?

My heart began a-thumpin' and my mind began to fly
And I knew I wasn't dealin' with no ordinary guy
So while he was a-talking I was thinkin' up my plan
Then my fingers did the walkin' on the telephone man

Singin' hey lolly, lolly
Hey lolly, lolly
Hey lolly, lolly
Get it any way you can
Right? Ha ha ha, so...

I got it in the bedroom, and I got it in the hall
And I got it in the bathroom, and he hung it on the wall
I got it with a buzz, and I got it with a ring
And when he told me what my number was I got a ding-a-ling

A-singin' hey lolly, lolly
Hey lolly, lolly
Hey lolly, lolly
Just-a doin' my thing

Ha, ha...I've never done anything like this before!

AND

It's a Small World? :vigil:

The_Lady_Snow 10-16-2010 10:10 AM

My default override is "Smelly Cat" or one of many songs I know in Hebrew, Lakota or Cree.

My sister listening constantly to her cartoons makes it hard to get away from those songs that always get stuck in My head like:

We call them ear-worms, and it's not just songs. Sometimes it's a word or phrase. A friend once had the name 'Alexander Solznhitzyn' (sp?) for months.

My longest, most durable ear-worm? Johnny Cash singing 'Burning Ring of Fire'.

Tag. You're it.

WolfyOne 10-16-2010 11:35 AM

I'm the pass it on kind of person
Why not share and see if it sticks with another <eg>

Some years back, I shared the Band Aid theme song with my co workers on their telephones, lol
At least I wasn't alone with it in my head all day or humming it

And, thanks to FB and Mafia Wars, If I Had A Hammer plays in my head for days
Some days I try to share it with my FB friends that play Mafia Wars

I'm a firm believer that sharing means caring so I do :)

Mine is Isabella Rosallini and a friends name that is also Italian that rolls off my tongue, I like saying it over and over, so I get that part.

Certain words set me off on songs that then I can't get them out of my head...and I think I'm going out of my head over youuuuuuuu, over you. hahahah I usually put on other music.

It depends on the song. Those that I love are happily mutilated by me singing bits and pieces of them and those that I hate are passed on. Passing it forward, one might say. :eyebat:

Organic has one now that makes me want to take a cleaver to it. The song, not him.....though, when he won't stop sharing it.....*glazed look*

Passing It Forward

This just happened to me recently. I visited YouTube and could not get "Boom Boom Pow" outta of my head. Especially Fergie's part of the song;

I like that boom boom pow
Them chicken jackin' my style
They try copy my swagger
I'm on that next shit now
I'm so three thousand and eight
You so two thousand and late
I got that boom boom boom
That future boom boom boom
Let me get it now

Boom boom boom (Gotta get that) [x4]

Boom boom boom (Yeah) [x2]
Boom boom boom [x2]

Ha! This is one of the songs I love to have in my head. I'll happily take it from you. :)

I've been guilty of being a passer-on-er...

Why should I be the only one listening to it?

But to keep with the poll..

answer #1. Depending on how annoying the song is..there's a possibility of tears.

answer #2. It always seems to be the most annoying things possible. No one else ever likes the song either. :|

answer #3. If there is a Satan..It's his personal favorite form of torture for human beings....Bastard. :|

Outlaw 10-16-2010 06:05 PM

Fun game unless you're receiving

I'm all about Playing it first THEN passing it on...

Lately, it's been the song Time by Hootie and the Blow Fish with the lyrics "Time, why you punish me? Like a wave crashing into the shore, You wash away my dreams."

Until now...

Since having this discussion, Fishinabaggie (whose personal song demon is Pearl Jam's Jeremy) created a new monster in Glen Campbell's Wichita Lineman with the lyrics "I am a Lineman For The County!".....which is now etching a permanent groove in my brain.

Thank you, thanks very much!

Rook 10-16-2010 08:45 PM

I tend to play it first , when someone innocently asks what I'm up to at 8 am, I pass it on.....No sense in Me being the only one Tortured.
Usually the reponse I get is "u fuckin prick, I hate you, now i'm going to hum that shit all day, rotten bastard!!!"..or some such similar variation of that..
{I'm quoting this morning when I shared the 2 songs stuck in my head
"Lime in the Coconut" ...&..."Pink Elephants on Parade"...}

Ms. Tabitha 10-17-2010 11:23 PM

I'm a passer-on-er

I saw an officer I worked with dancing to
"Peanut Butter Jelly"
:danceparty:

Being the kind and giving person I am I feel I need to share this with ALL of you :gimmehug:

ahhhh, I feel MUCH better now, thank you :formalbow:
