Fat*Girl Finds - Brands, Stores, and Labels for US!
So I just got a pair of boots that actually fit my wide calves and I was so excited about them that I thought it might be good to post an entire thread with detailed descriptions about items we find that will fit us.
We need the brand, the store you found it, links if you have them, and reviews! POST HERE! |
First Fabulous Find!
Found these boots at DSW shoe warehouse:
http://www.dsw.com/shoe/wanted+eiffe...?prodId=208727 Brand: Wanted Price: $59 at DSW Fit: FABULOUS These are a super sleek OVER THE KNEE boot by Wanted. There is a lycra stretchy panel on the back that allows for a custom fit on wide calfs. These are actually a knock off of a MUCH more expensive Stuart Weisman boot that runs about $600! They look great, are super comfortable, and are a decent quality of leather. Imagine my glee in finding over the knee boots that actually FIT that aren't over $200 a pair. Highly recommended. |
Torrid.com They have a great assortment of clothing and shoes... I like the fact that they have it all! Did I mention their clearance section? Check that out for some great prices and cute items... |
Here are another pair of boots that I just received:
http://www.roamans.com/clothing/Wide...roductTypeId=1 Brand: Step up Comfort Price: $59 on sale Place: Ordered from Roaman's Deets: These boots actually fit as well. Hit right below the knee and have a generous calf area but are cheaply made and pretty lightweight. Wouldn't recommend for heavy wear, looks like they wouldn't hold up well. Still, if you are desperate, these are a decent alternative. Definitely wouldnt pay more than $59 if they weren't on sale. Not sure if I'll keep these or send them back. |
My favorite store is Avenue! Of course, there isn't one here - but whenever I go to Fl. I make a habit of hitting up the clearance. You can buy online too, but the stores are so much better. There are few in NY, just none near me. :(

If you are ever in Brooklyn, NY you MUST visit the amazing vintage store Re/Dress- everything size 14 and up:

I love the Avenue and Roamans, too. And, I'm a great fan of CJ Banks. Their clothing is well-made and cut to fit my curves. A comparable size at Macy's, for example, is usually too slim in the hips and bust. They have some good sales--just picked up a bunch of stuff for 40% off everything in the store, including sale items. I'm also only 5' tall, and I can usually find petite sizes in the pants, either in the store on on line. Jeans too.
I should do a commercial for them. |
Thanks for the boot link :)
I've always affectionally referred to my legs as tree trunks :seeingstars: I love JJill and Chicos too! |

There is a store in Canada that I used to shop at (in a different lifetime): http://www.1-plus.com/additionelle.htm

Personally, I love Eshakti. Everything I've gotten from there has fit me so well, and they send coupons and such frequently. They go up to a size 26, and will also do custom sizing.

one of the blogs I follow on tumblr pointed me to Domino Dollhouse. I've never ordered from here yet, but their dresses are oh so very tempting.

Torrid is my most favorite, but I also love Avenue, Fashion Bug, Dots, Catos, and Deb. I'm a big clearance rack shopper, and all these stores have great ones! Gonna go check out the dollhouse one everyone suggests! Looking for a great dress for my next trip ;)
