I no longer wish to keep my profile on this site, for personal reasons, am i right that this site does not delete users? so my profile will just sit here?

You can go to the Admin Forums and ask about this. Those are set up to correctly answer questions having to do with this by the actual administration.

I think there is a thread for name change requests - maybe that would help you?
