5th Anniversary: Wood?
 

Ok. Since I know K isn't a regular on here I can ask this. So this November K and I will celebrate 5 years together. It's been an amazing 5 years and I want to get her something unique and special but made out of wood.

I've contemplated a journal with a wood cover but all the ones I find are blank pages (she likes lined ones). I thought perhaps a little ring box.. with a ring but K doesn't like traditional engagement rings. Which then has me searching for unique but simple rings with swallows.

Sigh.

So, I need some ideas. I've got a few months but I want it to be a special day to celebrate all that we've gone through and all that we're going to go through in life.

If ya have a suggestion, let me know.

I like the idea of a wooden "treasure box" pre-loaded with things that are special to you and her. I have kept a treasure box since Jackhammer's and my first date -replete with ticket stubs, dried roses, love notes, souvenier trinkets, napkins, etc....and a check for $12.00 (dirty story behind that one! LOL). Things that are super sentimental. Heck, you could even fill it with small things like a new journal, some cool stamps, new kinds of tea for her to try, body products, vintage hankies, etc.

Not really. :cheesy: More into TV marathons of cheesy sci fi and such.

I did get a mini-idea: an old frame with one of our first pictures together in it and a 2nd one -- newer/modern frame -- with the ring in the center.

There are wooden rings....

Also other wooden jewelry.

If she would like that type of thing.

Hrmmm.. I'll have to see. She's more into sterling silver and has eclectic tastes (not bling but more subtle stuff).

A wooden clock with an inscription or poem on the back?

Awesome ideas! I'm keeping a little notepad with them to see which one really sings to me at some point (when I've slept longer than 4 hours!)

Although I do like those. She loves anything with a swallow in it. She wants to get a tattoo of 3 on her shoulder to represent herself and her two siblings.

You could always have a box created such as something similar to these, but personalized for you and K. Do the wine thing and then reuse box for something different or if you don't drink, have it tailored towards another direction. if you like, holler and I will give you the woman that makes these. she states she can create any design.

Shamelessly admitting that I'm TOTALLY watching this thread.... totally forgot 5th anniversary is wood. Mine's tomorrow but we're celebrating more fancy-like next month.... curious what other wood suggestions get made!
