I was 15-16 and in High School. I had boyfriends and crushes on boys, had no idea what homosexual was. I had heard the words dyke, fairy, fag but just knew they were words people used to make fun of people.

After moving to another state and being completely distraught, a girl at my new school befriended me. As time went by I began to realize that I only wanted to spend time with her. One day she told me she had feelings for me. I had to go home and sit in my room to try and sort out exactly what I was feeling. It hit me that I felt the same way about her. Once I was introduced to other lesbians I felt like I was home. It was 1976-77.
