John Coltrane and Charlie Parker are the kings of saxophone jazz (true that), but Cannonball could bebop and hard bop with the best of them on his worst day, and I'd take him over Coltrane and Bird any day. Unlike 'Trane and Parker, Cannonball would incorporate gospel and soul music in his tunes. I like that a lot.
