I can understand that but you still have control over how 'much' you put yourself out there. You can put enough information in your profile to catch someone's eye but still not get 'too' personal.

It's a catch 22 because you won't get any signals until you put yourself out there and you're uncomfortable with putting yourself out there so you won't be receiving any signals unless you do that.
